Global Catalog Placement?
I'm planning the AD across muliple locations and some of them are linked
together with WAN connection. So, are there any concerns if I make ll of the
DC also be a GC? Any advices or resources are very welcome. Tag: MCSE Practice Exams no charge Tag: 99159

2000-2003
I need one more exam for my MCSE in W2K. The problem is,
I am so tied up at work and have not been able to even
study. I should have taken my last design exam and
received my MCSE almost a year ago.
Does anyone know when Microsoft is going end the W2K
testing, and only offer the 2003/XP testing?
Thanks, ck. Tag: MCSE Practice Exams no charge Tag: 99142

MCSE - Advice Please
I have a good understanding on Windows 2000, and am looking at doing an
MCSE.
Is it better to go for 2000 or 2003 ?
I have 3 options:
Self Study - Book's and PC's
Boot Camp
CBT Study from one of the training companies...
What do you think is the best way to go ?
How long does it take, I can give 8 - 10 hrs per week...
Any advice on the best way to do this ?
Thanks Tag: MCSE Practice Exams no charge Tag: 99133

70-215 Study stuff
Looking for help! I'm going for the 70-215 test and I have already taken
it once and failed. I thought I was ready for the exam but there was
question on the exam that I read nothing about. I have studied from the
Core4 books and I even got cd's from Serebra to study from. Is there
another book that I should study?

OT Network problem sort of
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Any thoughts on this, not really a problem but sure is bugging me.
Very simple network. 2 machines directly connected NIC to NIC with a
crossover cable.
Both machines are WIN 2000 Pro SP4 with
TCP/IP (NetBIOS over TCP/IP is enabled)
File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft networks
Client for Microsoft Networks
1 machine has a USB DSL Modem (PC1)
PC1 also as PPPoE protocol install to support the USB Modem (PPPoE is only
bound the USB Modem)
PC1 has an Epson C60 Printer installed on LPT1
PC1 is sharing the Epson Printer as EPSON
PC1 has ICS enabled to share the broadband connection
ICS works, no problems at all
PC2 obtains a address from ICS, no problem
PC2 is able to ping PC1 with both IP address and name
PC2 can reach share on PC1 with both IP address and name
PC2 CANNOT map to a shared printer on PC1 using computer name, but can using
IP address
PC1 can see the printer in explorer, but if the printer is right clicked and
"connect to" is chosen the following error results: Could not connect to
the printer. You either entered a printer name that was incorrect or the
specified printer is no longer connected to the server. Click help for more
information.
The same error message in Add Printer Wizard, except that in the Printer
Information Box before clicking next to accept the printer selected Error:
The Printer name is invalid. (Printer name is "EPSON" best I can tell no
illegal characters)

OT Resizing partitions
This is off topic but was wondering if anyone has any suggestions. I used
the Dell install program when I set up my AD server. Unfortunately it only
partitioned my 32gb mirrored pair with a 4gb Partition. Needless to say I am
running low on space now.
I am curious to know if anyone has used something like PowerQuest Volume
Manager to
resize there boot/sysvol drive. My other option is to create a partition
from the unused space and move all of my AD files to the new partition. Any
suggestions would be greatly Appreciated
