    - MSCE vrs MCP If I understand correctly, a MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional) specializes in one module that makes up the MCSE or passed one of the modules such as Networking. Is this correct? I've set up a Windows 2000 environment with 20 workstations involving DHCP, AD, and DNS. I've recently setup and configured a Windows 2003 environment with 7 workstations involving NAT, DHCP, AD, and DNS. I have the hands on experience, but lack the certifications.     - 70-219 Hello: I readed several posts about 70-219. I have no very clear how it is. I notice it is scenario based, but I do not know how many questions/scenarios it have.     - MCSE status Hello all, I've been out of work the last 2 years due to an accident I was in and haven't been in touch the certification scene lately. My question is I became a MCSE in Windows NT 4.0 back in July of 1998 and was cusious if I'm still an MCSE or has the NT4 MCSEs' been retired? Also I am getting ready to enter the job market again soon, Lord willing and recently passed W2K Pro and Svr exams. Since I was or still maybe an MCSE, am I suppose to recieve a welcome kit from Microsoft since passing the first W2K test?     - You have to think like Microsoft I've been installing/maintaining Microsoft server/client environments 6+ years. Although I'm just starting to take the tests for the MCSE, I thought I could take the tests with minimal studying. I failed the 70-270 test the first time (The Exam Cram 2 book is worthless and I hate that they don't tell you what your score was, but that is a different post all together), passed the test the second time. The key, besides understanding the material, is that you need to think like Microsoft. I found myself answering the questions with answers that weren't options. Like in the 70-216 sample question I have a scenario where the 2 of the 3 network segments can't get IP addresses through the router. Being a Cisco guy, I say, heck configure the router with DHCP relay and then they will get the info from the DHCP just fine. That's not an option in the answers, Microsoft wants you to use Microsoft, so you install the relay agent on each of the segments that is not getting their DHCP and yada, yada, yada. Know the material, hands on, reading (because hands on doesn't always give you Microsoft's preferred way) and THINK like Microsoft! That's just my opinion. Tag: MCSE 2003 Tag: 91355

    - net use and dos printing across domains I've got an archaic piece of dos software that does not print correctly from win2000 or winXP. To resolve the problem I use the following command: net use lpt1: \\computername\printername /persistent:yes This works perfectly, except when attempting to access resources in another domain. To access the domain, I would normally have to provide a username and password; however, net use only asks for a password. Obviously this gets me nowhere, regardless of the password provided.     - Drive Capacity Has anyone ever seen the case where the disk capacity doesn't match the disk usage? We have a 9GB drive. It says the Free space is down to 23 MB. When I highlight all of the files and do a properties, it says it is 5 GB. We apparently have 4GB of space just not showing up. I found myself daydreaming halfway through the case studies, there was SO much information. so far I've only designed the AD network (single domain) that I use at home which consists of 2 servers and 2 workstations. I have windows XP HOME with service pack 1 What I need to know is can I format my harddrive that will clean all the mess off and still load my same xp home disk or do Ihave to buy another disk. since when I installed xp home I was in another state.
