I normally don't cross-post, but for this I felt it was necessary. Mainly
because I'm being lazy and I didn't want to have to go into my sent items
and forward it to the other groups. Besides, you don't mind do you? Didn't

Anyways, on to what I'm posting about. Two main reasons: 1) To let everyone,
that hasn't heard about CertGuard, know what we are about, and 2) to let
everyone know about the New forum that I just started within CertGuard.
CertGuard, if you don't already know, is trying to keep the value of your IT
Certifications at a point where they still have some value. For quite some
time now (at least 5 years), br@indump companies and cheaters that use those
braindumps have been devaluing the IT Industry by entering our field of work
with no regard of the hard work that MOST of you put into studying for and
EARNING your certifications.
I started CertGuard just a few months ago when I decided that enough is
enough. When I realized that there are people out there that will perform
outrageous tasks to get someone else certified, I went ballistic and started
contacting everyone I knew about this. Without going into detail about it,
I'll just say that I've made quite a few new contacts and that we are taking
care of business. Your Certifications are looking somewhat better (not that
anyone would really know, right?).

MCSE related forum
Can anyone recommend an MCSE related forum? I was using examnotes for a
while, but evidently they're br@indumpers. Actually a few forums i used
to go to some of the practice questions on there were a little 2 close
to the real thing for my taste. as soon as i get a chance, im gonna
report them to MS so hopefully theyll get taken down. so if anyone can
recommend a couple certification forums/sites for me i'd really
appreciate it.
Ive been having the hardest time finding proper study materials and
resources. its like you have to be extra cautious on what you read and
what practice tests you use. out of the 7 cert exams ive taken, 3 of
them (ccna, 70-270, 70-217)have had almost word for word answers that
ive seen on either different cert sites or exam sim. im trying my
hardest not to be immoral and cheat, because i want to earn my certs,

network problems?
I have 2 pcs at home, I installed server 2003 on pc1 with IP address:
192.168.0.5, the domain name is aero.com and windows xp on pc2 with ip
address: 192.168.0.7, I used a d-link router to link them together.
my questions are: 1.when I tried to ping the pc each other, why it doesn't
work?
2. I tried to join pc2 to the domain aero.com,
it showed me " can't find the domain"
my understanding is they are on the same network, should be able to ping

Normaliz.dll not found when trying to start explorer.exe... it was time for
the quarterly reinstall, anyway, but...
That does it for running beta on production machines for a while (except
virtualized, of course).
one might say that you should never use beta software in production
environment, but I haven't had much problems since NT5 got to beta 2, so
these kind of flaws are surprising, anyway.
- are MS betas getting more unstable these days?
- hasn't MS got as good testers anymore?
- has MS employed too many Java people as architects?
- are MS developers playing too much with process (scrum, xp, what have you)
to get the job done preoperly?
- are all the fantastic MS developers converting into mediocre process
reenginering people?
- am I just expecting too much?

OT: How I'm Going To Change The World
I was really disappointed the other day to see 'Flowers For Algernon'
leaving the group. After making such a great contribution here, and only
having to post one message to do so... that's a person I'm truly going to
miss.
Progress on InterNeil 2.0, the NNTP posting program everyone seems
interested in talking to, has been going well, with the computer
successfully creating posts under it's OTHMAN moniker in a variety of
groups. It was interesting to see the reaction it got here, especially when
it's existance was reinforced by the apparent involvement of a third
party -- creating the illusion of realism. I haven't quite got it down yet,
it needs a few routines for scanning posts and identifying the people it
communicates with, but 'microsoft.public.nntp.test' and
'microsoft.public.msagent' are as good a places as any to continue with
development. Quite an interesting bit of social engineering, and expect to
hear more from it, and other NNTP posting programs, in the future.
I've decided that the way to solve the world's problems is to write about
them in newsgroups. I'll point to bad things that have happened in the past
as justification for my current wrong behavior, and let everyone know that
if they don't agree with my point of view, I'll beat them up or shoot them.
That always seems to work for the terrorists. And if it's good enough for
the terrorists, it's good enough for me.

Ok people, here's the plan...

Man was that a boring session....
It was kinda funny though. They were going on about how Vista has a new
feature that automatically detects when you add an external monitor to a
laptop, and switches too it. So when they plug in the projector to the
laptop...what do they get...a blank screen....I guess that shows you
shouldn't be using a beta product in a production environment....
Then of course there windows xp computer seemed to freeze up a couple times.
On the plus side, they were handing out the goodie bags first thing in the

70-293 question: correct subnetting formula
Hi everybody!
I'm preparing 70-293 on MS press Self Paced training Kit first version.
At Chapter 2 it says that to find out how many sbunetted networks are
available you just need to calculate 2^y-2 (where y is the n° of the
subnetted bits).
My question is: isn't this obsolete? From what I studied in 70-291 it's
since mid 90's that this rule as been overcome by the 2^y!
Any help?
