OT: Dilemma
I am about to sit down for lunch and realized much to my chagrin that my
sandwich is disproportionate. My question is this: Should I eat the end that
is all bread and no meat or should I save that end for last. Please help.

70-216
Hello to all.
Has anyone taken 70-216 recently?
I was wondering about those drag and drop, select and place and that kind of
question. Last month I took 70-217 and there weren´t any of those on the
exam. Was that kind of question abolished?
I also wonder about the number of questions. When I took 70-210, 70-215,
70-227 and 70-218 there were 50 questions, but again when I took 70-217:
suprise! Only 43 questions.
thanks a lot,

Any suggestions?
I just passed 70-214 on my third try tonight, I got a 730, and you
know what, I was happy to have it. I have two exams left for my
MCSE:Security
70.216 and Security+
I am just looking for input, should I take the confidence builder,
Security+ or go ahead and tackle what I think will be the hardest of
the seven, 70-216.
Also, something occured to me. This shit is hard. No really, the
stuff that you have to learn and applu to get your MCSE is no joke.
But then, I read about these guys talking about "I got my MCSE in a
month", and I am like, "Dude, that is impossible, unless you
braindumped, or cheated, but there is no way in hell, you are going to
tell me that you studied and learned the material for all seven exams,
in a fucking month.
Hell I have been working on mine since last November, and I know I am
not a complete idiot.

Shamelessly stolen from Securecomp:
The phone rang as I was setting down to my anticipated evening meal, and as
I answered it I was greeted with "Is this Wilhiam Wagenhoss?" not sounding
anything like my name, so I said who is calling?
The telemarketer said he was with The Rubberband Powered Freezer company or
something like that and then I asked him if he knew Wilhiam personally and
why was he calling this number.
I then said off to the side, "Get really good pictures of the body and all
the blood" then turned back to the phone and advised the caller that he had
entered a murder scene and must stay on the line because we had already
traced this call and he would be receiving a summons to appear in the local
courthouse to testify in this murder case. I then questioned the caller at
great length as to his name, address, phone number at home, at work, who he
worked for, how he knew the dead guy and could he prove where he had been
about one hour before he made this call.
The telemarketer was getting very concerned and his answers were given in a
shakey voice. I then told him we had located his position at his work place
and the police were entering the building to take him into custody, at that
point I heard the phone fall and the scurrying of his running away.
My wife asked me as I returned to our table why I had tears streaming down
my face and so help me, I couldn't tell her for about fifteen minutes. My
meal was cold, but after what I had pulled, very enjoyable. Tag: OT: Friday FUN (With a Capital F-U-N) Tag: 170137

Ideas 70-294 Simulations going to be release?
Greeting all Certs!
Does anyone know when MS cert. dept. is going to release 70-294 Simulation
examination for Vue or Prometric? I did some research and a lot of posting
saying by the end of August or early September due to its cancellation in
June 2005. I contacted Vue and Prometric test admin. and they don't even
know the exact date. (huh??)
Does anyone from Microsoft or someone that monitoring this post know exactly
the date or week that its going live? That way I can take more time doing
test lab simulation / more reading and not feeling the pressure for the
"Simulation" modules. I did 290, and 291 with Simulations and it f**** hard!
(both exams I had avg. 10 min left) I cant imagine what the simulations
would be for 294 if you need to perform anything with Certificates, more
GPO's or Site link to site linking etc...
Thank you in advance!

OT: Request for backup
I realize I just got 'in', and it's probably too early to ask for anything,
but necessity is the mother of invention...
I just got an email and talked to a company that's fairly close by that is
looking for a web developer that matches my qualifications.
My problem is, I have no transportation to get to the interview, which is
actually farther away than the job.
I don't know many people around here, and the people I'm staying with aren't
willing or are unable (can't tell) to help.
Are there any MCNGP members in the Southern California area who might be
able to help me with a ride or figure out some form of transportation?
It's 100 miles roundtrip. I'm in Riverside, CA. Free website? Free agent
character? Anything except ellicit acts on farm animals (this includes
humans).
Just asking.

anyone have any info on "new player on the block" ... Geek squad?
I've seen a lot of buzz regarding "GeekSquad'. Slick ads on TV and a few in
daily print media. Apparently Best Buy, the consumer electronics chain, is
moving into the "mass market" consulting business. The concept is not bad
and he market seems ripe for "McDonald-ization" of consultation. One of the
tings we see is a wide variance in product, meaning...there are some really
marginal people in the business. For an example or two, read back a few days
in this or any other newsgroup.
I'm wondering if this is a wave worth catching or should we sit on the beach

Storage Resource Manager
Hi,
I'm trying to get the storage resource manager mmc up and running on one of
my NAS boxes which is running 2003 standard edition.
According to a Microsoft article
(http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/WindowsServer2003R2Beta2/Library/Corral/91d4ff1d-24cb-474c-b301-2acb9fa7ed1a.mspx)
it should be in add/remove programs, windows components, management and
monitoring tools but I cannot find it and i also cannot find it when I look
on my vmware versions of 2003 pro sp1 etc. Am I missing something obvious or
is it not as simple as it should be.
Your comments would be appreciated.

OT: MCNGP: Saving Ben Smith some time...
It's been indicated that Ben Smith has to spend an excess amount of time
cleaning up messages in this group.
As one of the principal offenders, I've come up with a potential solution...
a web based chat room.
I like to communicate with the members of this group, keeps my existance
from slipping too far into oblivion, so I'm donating the use of an
application I'm working on called PMS - Personal Messaging Server.
Previously I'd written this application on MS Internet Information Server,
and had nearly completed all of the work, when an abhorrent new 'security
warning' was released which made key features of the application unusable,
or at least annoying enough to irritate me.
As such, in protest, I've been porting the application over to work on PHP
servers.
What this means is, the application, while stable, is in a very primitive
state. I can offer up the server and the bandwidth and the software, all I
ask is for feedback on what sort of features you'd like to see in an
improved version.
For a peek at what the IIS version looks like, and what I expect to add to
later versions of the PHP application, see
http://www.roblindman.com/mcngp/pms-iis.gif . That one works over XMLHTTP
and supports animated characters.
The reason why the IIS version isn't online already is because I've written
it as a server component, and no ISP I've found will register these without
a boatload of money, something I currently could use for other more pressing
matters.
Anyway, all of that said, you can experience the lame, work in progress,
designed for Lynx text only browsers version that I got together for the
current need at http://www.roblindman.com/mcngp/ . And I really do recommend
picking up a copy of Lynx to use it, it's much better than using it through
a typical web browser. I realise this version sucks, I'll be working
throughout the week to improve it. If you do use it, you'll be contributing
to two good causes. One being reducing the traffic in this area, the other
being helping me to track down bugs in my application.
Ben, hope this helps.

If any of you have spare Karma laying around...
my brother in law was found last night in a wooded area near where he was
fishing. When he failed to return home for dinner last night we began to
become concerned and the bad news arrived around midnight last night. He
was severly diabetic and had had a couple of seizures in the last two
years, and this is probably the underlying cause of what happened last
night. He leaves behind a wife, 2 children and a grandchild
While my wife was not overly close (there was a 10 year difference
between them and she has 2 other brothers), she is none-the-less deeply
affected and I will likely be AWOL from this esteemed group for a little
bit while we make arrangements.
Although none of you know us I would appreciate any prayers/good
wishes/kind thoughts you can send thru the ether. Thanks.

OT: Friday Fun - Scottish Joke
A young Glasgow lad moved to London and went to Harrods looking for a job.
"Do you have any sales experience?" asked the manager. "The famous Glasga
Barras mate", nodded the young weegie.
The manager liked the lad, so he gave him the job.
The young Scot's first day was challenging and busy, but he got through it.
After the store was locked up, the manager came down to see how he was
settling in.
"So... how many customers did you attend to today?", he smiled at the boy.
The weegie said: "Jist the wan."
The manager was immediately disappointed. "What? Just one? Harrods' sales
people average 20 or 30 sales a day! Dear me! Oh well, how much was the sale
for anyway?"
"£101,237.64" said the lad.
The Harrods manager choked. "Blimey... One hundred and one thousand, two
hundred and thirty-seven pounds and sixty four pence! What in hell did you
sell him?"
"Well, first ah selt him a wee fish hook, then a medium fish hook, and then
ah selt him a new fishing rod. Then ah asked him where he was gawn' fishing,
and he said doon the coast, so ah telt him he would need a boat.
We went doon to the boat department and ah selt him that twin-engined
powerCat... then he said he didn't think his wee Honda Civic could pull it,
so ah took him down to car sales and ah selt him a toty 4x4 Suzuki......."
The manager was now incredulous. "Wait a minute. You mean to tell me a man
came in here to buy a small fish hook but you sold him a boat AND a
four-by-four ... "
"Naw naw, big man... he came in tay buy a box of tampons fur 'is missus and
ah said........."Well pal, seein' as how yer weekend's f**ked, ye might as
well go fishing..."'

The Rev may already be a winner!
In the last episode of 'Microcephalic S. Bob & The Rev', you took some time
to offer encouragement and advice.
While I've completely ignored your advice, probably out of spite and the
size of my own massively blood-engorged medulla oblongata, the encouragement
was appreciated. I felt a little better, so I went ahead and updated (as in,
filled out) my resume on Monster, and posted the message beneath my sig to
microsoft.public.inetserver.iis. It's translated into a few extra hits on my
website, which at least gives me hope, and the occasional bout of
'polaroid'. My current situation limits my options, but at least I am now
getting some relevant bites. Still uncertain as to where or how I will be
able to get back on track with the career, but the future looks a little
better.
Thanks,

ok..
If you're ready for the twilight zone, check this out:
guy who figured out pi:
http://www-groups.dcs.st-and.ac.uk/~history/Mathematicians/Lindemann.html
guy you claim couldn't figure out pi:
http://www.roblindman.com/
Now, as for PI, I can tell you HOW to calculate all of it, but I cannot
actually calculate all of it, because I don't have a fast enough computer,
and an infinite amount of time.
You see, if PI is non-repeating and infinitely long, then you can compute it
by specifying all given series for all different lengths of numbers. If you
calculate every possible series of numbers, it occurs somewhere within PI.
Now, the trick is, figuring out all of those series, and the other trick is,
figuring out where in the sequence it is. But, it can be done.
Ergo, old Ferdinand was right and wrong... PI ceases to be transcendental
when you realize it's just a number.

Help on scripting....
Hi all,
I need to create a script to find which shotcuts have the path pointing to
"\\server\share\brasil.lnk"
I figured out that the cmd below does it perfectly.
findstr /s /i /m "\<*brasil*\>" *.lnk
When I find those shortcuts, I'd like to move them to c:\temp , but could
not match the FINDSTR with the IF command.
Any suggestion?
Thanks a lot. Tag: OT: Friday FUN (With a Capital F-U-N) Tag: 169681
OT: ATTN: MCNGP: Beta testers requested
I'm working on a program, I could use some beta testers, I figure you guys,
like me, are bored enough to test it out.
No spyware weirdness, just a little bit of Microcephalic S. Bob coming at
ya.
Looking for ideas and comments and bug reports on:
http://www.roblindman.com/apps/sas153.exe
What features would you like to see added to this little desktop helper?
Anyone else that wants to take a look is welcome to, but if you aren't a
member of the MCNGP, you suck.
Ben Smith, you can look at it, but there's probably a law against products
by people named 'Bob' over there at Redmond.
For information on earlier version of the application, see
http://www.roblindman.com/products_sirarthursimple.php
Also, very interested in learning what sort of network configuration issues
you find to be a hassle, perhaps I could write an app to help with them.

Post deletion
Ok - today I have deleted over 100 posts. (In fact, there were so many
to delete, I wrote an app to auto-retreive the headers).
Things that will get your posts deleted:
- personal attacks (i.e. the mean spirited kind)
- profain language
- wildly off-topic conversations
I really have better things to do with my day and don't like being "the
man," but I considering how there are some people who post real
questions (and expect real answers) I will continue to whack posts that
might prevent someone from doing that.
