I've realised that the MCDST is an elective for the MCSA, so if I finish 70-291 I'll have my MCSA, however, it doesn't appear to be an elective for MCSE. Is this correct? Also, ISA 2004 is an elective for the MCSA, but doesn't seem to be for the MCSE. Decided this year that after ten years in the same job, I'd like a move, and that certificates would help me. Of course, I'm also up for self-improvement and all that. Passed three MCP's since January, having to fund everything myself so not been on any courses. Just reading books and my experiences have got me through. Next one up is 70-294. My first question, should you choose to accept me, is this: Once I've passed all the relevant MCP's, does the 'system' automatically make me an MCSE?     - CompTIA Hello all, I passed Security+ on the 12th of this month. The cert was sent by comptia on the 19th to MS however, it is not showing up on transcript. I emailed mcphelp, each time i am asked to send mcp number, comptia number, registration number, blood type, pets name, first childs left testicle ect... I send the information and get another canned reply of send us bla bla bla. I have called twice to the MCP support center to a partially english speaking rep who told me to call comptia. CompTIA stated they sent the info to MS so it is in their hands now. Who do i have to bribe or what do i need to do to get this on my transcript.     - MSCE Training Providers Hello, I am based in the UK and have worked in the IT industry for 15 years primarily in a Microsoft environment. I have a vast array of experience in many different areas but since I finished my last contract 3 months ago I have found it very difficult to get a job. Most of the jobs I am seeing advertised are requesting some form of professional certificate, which I don't, so I fear I am not even making it through the vetting process of the recruiters. So I have been looking around and seriously thinking about settling into a career path, preferably in a training capacity. I started to look at the MCT certificate since the last couple of contracts I have done have been in a training role and it is a role I enjoy. I am planning on doing an MCSE, Microsoft Office Master and then applying for my MCT so I signed up today with a training provider called SkillsTrain (here in the UK) who are associated with Scheidegger. I was wondering if anyone has any information on this provider or whether anyone knows if there is someone I can contact at Microsoft UK, who could conirm whether or not this company are legitimate and a recognised microsoft training provider. I do have the AskPartner hotline number for Microsoft here in the UK as published on the back of the Microsoft Partner (Summer 2006) magazine but I was wondering if anyone knows of a more suitable number/contact?     - Consulting gig I've always been a full-time employee during my existance in IT. Well, I have an opportunity for a Consulting gig that looks attractive on the surface. What are the pros and cons of consulting compared to full-time.     - OT: GO OILERS GO Again I say, go Oilers go... For those of you who haven't been paying attention...the Oilers finnished in 8th spot this regular season. Knocked off the #1 team in the league (detroit red wings) and continued to beat the sharks, and the ducks. Then they lost their starting goalie in game 1 against the carolina huricanes....came up with a big loss that night and lost game 2... 5-0. Finnally won a game, but then went on to lose the next game...making it a 3-1 series lead for the canes ( best of 7). Hurricanes then lost in overtime, to make it a 3-2 lead for the canes, then the oilers beat them 4-0...the series is now tied at 3. Whoever wins tonight, gets the cup! An 8th place team has never made it to the finals...a team being down 3 games to 1, has only ever won the cup once... And to top it off, The oilers have the best fans in the league.
