mcsa exams
My company has indicated that they would like me to become MCSA
certified. They've said that a specialization isn't necessary, just
the base level MCSA. They have also said they would prefer the MCSA
for 2003 to the equivalent next generation cert by Microsoft as most
of our customers have no Vista plans at this time.
I know that Microsoft has said the MCSA (and MCSE) will never be
expired and will always be recognized. Their value will just diminish
as companies slowly migrate to Vista.
This is my question. The MCSA is basically the exams 70-290, 70-291,
and 70-270 (already passed) and an elective (already earned).
Will Microsoft at some point stop administering the 70-290 and 70-291
exams even though the cert itself won't be expired or retired?
Just trying to get a good idea of how long I have to get the MCSA 2003
done before the exams are no longer available. I know the cert won't
be expired but I'm guessing, at some point, the exams won't be offered
anymore.
Can anyone advise?

choice questions where are the interactive learning material i used has basic

Examsaver review
My first step before I take any test is to read the full copy of the
appropriate ExamCram 2 book. These books provide alot of raw
knowledge without any context. So.. For example.. "Here is the User
Manager" or "the command line options for the bcp utility are..". Of
course there is not a single question on the exam that asks you to
identify the User Manager window or "here are a bunch of options..
what command are they associated with.". The books provides an
overview so you know what you need more help with if you're not sure.
Once you have read over the material and did more extensive
investigation (so you actually know what your talking about without
just passing the exam) then you could use Exam Saver to test topics
that you need to investigate further.
Now.. After ExamSaver you would still need to buy something like
Transcender(hardest), TestKing(hard) or Pass4Sure(hard) to pass the
actual test. Exam Savers WILL ONLY TEST YOU ON THE MATERIAL and WILL
NOT prepare you for the exam.
If you depend solely on ExamSaver as a testing material for anything
other than the theories and material covered by the certification test

Take that, 70-297, and that, and that...
Well if you've not already guessed. I passed 70-297. No bootcamps, no
braindumps, just good old fashioned study. It may have taken a while for
this one to come, but in a funny kind of way, I'm glad I failed this one a
few times, because it proved that I wasn't ready.
For anyone else contemplating taking this exam, I'd recommend giving
yourself twice as long to study and prepare for this one, than you normally
would. My mistake was to try and rush it, I thought I could complete it
quickly, but I couldn't.
Now I can say I'm an MCSE (not much in the big scheme of things!) but the
personal challenge and achievement were my motivating factors.
Thanks to everyone in this group who provided help, guidance and humour.
Your comments were appreciated.
And to anyone who is having difficulties with any MS exam, all I can say is
stick at it, if you know your stuff, you will pass.

I assume (based on the MeasureUp pre-tests) that you can do a question
review at the end of each case study. Do you also get one 'all
inclusive' review of all questions at the end or do you lose the
option to review as soon as you advance past each case study?

Branch Offices / WANs - Best training?
Hello there folks,
I am looking to fill my knowledge above MCSA to the MCSE level and looking
to find what courses would best cover the knowledge in terms of settings up
a distributed AD / Forest environment - i.e. "Branch Offices" to a degree,
but also distributed larger domains... and how to ensure that they talk to
each, replicate etc etc.
There is sort of two scenarios, but wonder if someone of MCSE level could
confirm that 70-297 exam should be what I am looking at (practically),
I have spotted a 2 day course about Branch Office deployement (Course
4356) - Which also sounds useful - but I wonder how indepth the knowledge is
in terms of the WAN links etc?
I'd be greatful for your input.

NT4.0 1999 vintage MCSE - Am I still certified?

PrepLogic Practice Exams
Anyone else have experience with the preplogic practice exams compared to the
actual exam?
I'm doing a self study through ther cds and material. I am finding that the
things covered on the cd often don't match the type of questions on the
practice exams.
There questions tend to be very specific and detailed, where in the
material, it is more general.
