Forcing Computer Lock with GP
Is there a way to initiate a computer lock for a user session when they walk
away from their desktop after 5 minutes or so? Which then would require them

Thinking out loud re: MCSE
I'm actively turning my years as a technician on various medical, library,
and business products into certifications so that I can be more marketable.
So far this year I've managed to study for and pass CompTIA's A+ and
Network+ exams. Now, my next thought was to pick up an MCP on either XP
Prof. or Vista. This would get me my MCP plus move me one step closer
towards MCSE on Win. Server 2003.
My question to the group here is which OS exam should I go for: 70-270 or
70-620? I don't see XP disappearing anytime soon, but I wonder if I should
just push ahead and go with Vista since it will eventually replace it. I
think I'd rather do XP since I've had the most experience with it, but I'm
also running Vista Home Premium on 2 machines at home.
Any thoughts, good people?

I am confused, please advise, at present I am MCSE 2000 certified & want to
know what is upgrade path to MCSE 2003.
I see that 2 transition exams have been retired post-March 2008, will this

A question regarding Advent Computer Training - MCSE Certificate.
I've recently applied with Advent Computer Training
(http://www.adventtraining.co.uk/) and I was just curious if anybody knew if
it was 100% genuine or not?
There have been recent documentaries on how these companies are just scams
that give you a certificate that doesn't actually give you much of Career
chance.
I'd LOVE to get myself a qualification in IT and what Advent say this would
be perfect for me, however, after talking with people they're concerned I
could end up throwing away alot of money for a certificate that wont do me
much good.
If this is just a load of rubbish, I know this isn't the place for Careers
Advice, but how did you go about getting your paper work? Which method is
most secure and what's best for the long run in life?

T1 Point to Point Connections
I have two offices that require to be hooked into each other for our upcoming
merger. Not only for data, but for voice also. I have a T1 at each
location. I am assuming this is needed to accomplish the Point to Point
through ATT. My question is: Do i need to have the same equipment on each

Querying a test result with Microsoft re 70291
Hi, not sure if anyone can help but i could sure use some.
I took 70291 for the third time yesterday and failed with a 653. On the
previous two test occasions i scored highly in the Routing and remote access
>60-70% correct in that area on both the previous attempts.
However on yesterdays failed attempt on the feedback sheet it tells me that
i literally got 0.5% correct for that same section.
I'm just a bit puzzled how i can become so disastourously bad at this
section when it was my strongest section on the previous two exam attempts.
To cut a long story short does anyone know if it's possible to query this
situation with Microsoft???
Any advice or ideas welcome.

roaming profile
I have installed a windows 2003 server and make it a domain controller. Then
i have followed all required steps for create roaming profile (shared folder,
users profile path etc)
Actual problem is coming when I am logging in client PC. Client has windows
XP professional and its in domain.
After giving the username and passwords its giving following errors:
User environment:
Windows cannot locate the server copy of your roaming profile and is
attempting to log you on with your local profile...........
Possible causes of this error include problem or insufficient security
rights. If this problem persists...........
it was coming with a timer of 20-25 seconds
After that one more error is coming like :
User environment:
Windows cannot find the local profile and is loging you on with a temporary
profile. Changes you make to the profile will be lost when you log off.
Please tell me the solution....

Lab from 70-291, who can help?
I wrote this on Technet too, just in case... I can NOT understand was I
mistaken or is the book of Microsoft Corp. wrong. :-( I can't complete the
Troubleshooting Lab on s.4-61 of the Chapter 4 "Configuring DNS Servers and
Clients" of the book "MCSA/MCSE Self-Paced Training Kit (Exam 70-291):
Implementing, Managing, and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003
Network Infrastructure". I successfully completed ALL previous exercises, but
when I enter ipconfig /registerdns on Computer2 I see in the EventViewers
errors with EventId 11164 and 11165 on Computer2 and with EventId 800 on
Computer1. I do know what must I do after this for Comp.2's registering in
zones of Comp.1. But I DON'T
KNOW how must I (and everybody) fulfil previous labs in order to complete
this last one?!! If nobody can help me maybe anyone knows how can I contact

Can a MCSE on 2000 still be achieved if you have the core four don
I recently completed my 2000 MCSA and am not sure if it is possible to simply
take the electives and still complete a MCSE on 2000 or not. I'm trying to
decide if I should upgrade my MCSA to 2003 and then complete my MCSE on 2000,
or finish the electives and obtain a MCSE on 2000 and then upgrade my MCSE to
2003. I guess this is where procrastination leads! Regardless, is it possible
to get a MCSE 2000 by completing the electives if they still exist. For
example, can I just take 2003 security test elective and it count to 2000?
The website says I can, but I called and the Regional help line person said I
should take 70-217, which we all know was killed yesterday. Any info would be
appreciated. Thanks!
