    - OT - Slow network segment I had about 10 PC's - all connected through a hub (not a switch) experiencing a slow network. All I usually do is turn the hub of for about a minute then back on and the network on that segment speeds up again.     - Taking 70-216 on Friday Has anyone taken the new exam? Is it harder than before? I studied the Sybex and MS press books and have a lot of actual product experience.     - Mcse NT-4 Certificate Hello, I *qualified* for MCSE certification, NT-4 track, by passing the required exams back in year 1999, however, i did not recieve the MCSE certificate from Microsoft. Now, scince i refrenced it some where, i am required to produce the certificate and i have no clue how.     - ISA and dhcp for lab only Am setting up new configuration for 70-227 (and 214). Three pcs to work with. Want to use one as ISA (firewall/Cache) but want to add DHCP Service Service. Other PC will be W2k Advanced Server with AD. Last PC will be Winxp with various Virtual PC W2k devices to test GPO. Am I running into issues running ISA and DHCP on the one machine?     - Understanding network bridging in Windows XP Have a wired network, Network A, using 10.x.y.z range, with a gateway to the Internet. Also have a totally separate wireless network, Network B, using 172.1.a.b range Have a notebook running WinXP Pro with 2 network interfaces, one for the wired network, the other wireless. I bridge the 2 interfaces. From a PC on Network A, I cannot ping a computer on Network B (possibly due to the gateway). The PC on Network B has its firewall disabled, of course. Before I go and make IP configuration changes (and re-set up my little experimental network again), is it possible for a host on either network to communicate with a 2nd host on the other network using the Bridge? (Yes, I know I can get it to work by setting up my notebook as a router and adding static routes if necessary).     - question about network install I have this question on a MSPress 70-215 book that confuses me. Q: You are installing Windows 2000 over the network. Before you install to a client computer, what must you do? A: Locate the path to the shared installation files on the distribution server. create a 671MB FAT partition on the target computer (2 GB recommended). Create a client disk with a network client so that you can connect from the computer, without an operating system, to the distribution server. So my question is, why do you have to create a FAT Partition before running a network install? Why cant you just pop in a network boot up disk, with no partitions on the drive, run the winnt switch to start the network setup, and have text mode create the partition for you like you how you usually can doing a manual install from a cd?     - Win2k RIS I have an RIS server running on a Windows 2000 server and i just received 20 new desktops to deploy. I have my RIS server setup to accept all requests. Since it's a pain in the butt to setup all the GUIDS ahead of time in AD. And we're a small corp so security isn't a HUGE deal. Anyway, my problem is that every single one of these new machines gives me the same error message when I get right past the authentication part of the RIS install. Right BEFORE it shows me the list of OS's to install. The error message reads something like "A duplicate GUID has been found in the directory services and install can not continue. Please consult your system administrator." These are BRAND new machines, out of the box. How in gods name can a duplicate GUID exist in AD already? I've looked all over the web, including technet and newsgroups and found nothing on how to fix this.     - 70-292 I passed 70-292 on monday the 25th. With my prior 2000 MCSE skills, I found the exam to be familiar. There were lots of questions on new features in familiar services >>(DNS, AD, SUS, RDP, GPOs). It reminded me of the 218 exam for 2000 MCSA. I am scheduled for 296 on Sept. 5th. If anyone else writes this one before then, please post topics to focus on. If you are very comfortable with 2000 and know the new DNS features (stub zones and conditional forwarding), how to configure SUS, and use teh new Volume Shadow Copy Services, you wil be ok for 292. I have been using 2003 since it was whistler beta2 and have been working on upgrading our production network. I have configured most of the new features, the whats new in help and support for the product will help you out on the new stuff. Good luck to those who take it, wish me luck on the 5th for 296. Title: BOGUS Boy Star(s): Haley Joel Osment Age: 7 Comments: Fans of the now buried ABC tv show Thunder Alley will not want to miss this fantasy flick which stars Haley Joel Osment. This movie is for boy lovers who are interested in seeing 90 minutes of eye candy because you certainly would not go for the plot. But oh what eye candy it is! Little Haley is a major cutie who is on screen almost the entire time. Lets hope we see even more of him in the future. VCR Freeze Frame Moment: As his overalls are being stripped off of him you catch a very brief glimpse of his white undies. Title: The Boy Who Could Fly Boy Star(s): Fred Savage (little brother) Age: 8 Comments: The very first movie (at about age 8) of one of the cutest boy actors ever. Although not admittedly as cute in this movie as at age 11 (see Vice Versa). Title: Captain Ron Boy Star(s): Benjamin Salisbury (Ben) Age: 11 Comments: A slapstick comedy with a fairly cute boy. At one point he plays strip Monopoly(now there's a good party idea). Title: The Champ Boy Star(s): Ricky Schroder Age: 6 Comments: The Birth of a Legend. Little Ricky couldn't get any cuter than he did with this movie. VCR Freeze Frame Moment: Rick and his dad are pulling their clothes off to go swimming. Ricky moves so quick he pulls down his shorts and you can see his butt. Title: Chippendiddies (England) Boy Star(s): Kyle Donnelly, Simon Griffiths, Jordan Miles, Shane Miles, Matthew Norbury, Aaron Reed, John Trevor, Daniel Windsor Age: 10-13 Comments: An English all-boys version of the Chippendales. If that statement is not enough to get your heart racing a little faster then you need a hormone check. Although they dont get down to a g-string they are certainly a blend of sexy and sweet that will have you dieing to book them for your next party. Kyle in particular is a doll. Title: A Christmas Story Boy Star(s): Peter Billingsley (Ralphie) Age: 10 Comments: Peter's looks are too obscured by those glasses for my tastes. Title: Children of the Lost City (French) Boy Star(s): Joseph Lucien (Denree) Age(s): 4-10 Comments: Truly a very strange movie, probably even more strange than Leolo. I can't even begin to describe the plot since no words can do it justice. However, I will say that once you just sit back and accept what's happening on screen you can't help but become engaged with what's happening. Anyone with a taste for Terry Gilliam type films with some boys thrown in will definitely appreciate this movie. Title: The Client Boy Star(s): Brad Renfro (Mark) Age: 12, 9 Comments: A fairly good(i.e., very watchable but not in the same league as The Fugitive, Road Warrior,et al) action flick about two white trash boys who see too much while sneaking a smoke one day. Brad is 13 and is basically the star of the show as he plays the wise ass, street-smart older brother. The younger brother is about 9 and cuter. Unfortunately he spends most of the movie lying in a hospital bed. Title: The Cowboys Boy Star(s): Unknown Age: 9-14 Comments: Features about 10 or so boys, most pretty good looking. A real treat for the eyes. Title: Cross My Heart (French) Boy Star(s): Sylvain Copans (Martin), Nicolas Parodi (Jerome), Mathieu Poussin (Nicolas) Age: 11-13 Comments: A handsome young boy's mother dies and because he is afraid of going to an orphanage he keeps it a secret. His friends are very supportive and go to incredible lengths to support him. This is a touching movie about true friendship. Title: Cujo Boy Star(s): Danny Pintario (Tad) Age: 6 Comments: Danny's first movie and his cutest. The heart begins to race faster as the movie goes along leading up to the end where the almost nude Danny is sweaty and hot. A must see for all of his fans from TV. VCR Freeze Frame Moment: At the end of the movie as little Danny's oh so adorable nearly nude body is lying in the car you don't want to miss that shot! Title: Cure, The Boy Star(s): Joey Mazzello (Dexter), Brad Renfro (Erik) Age: 12, 13 Comments: Joey and Brad team up in this sensitive movie about a boy with AIDS and the outcast who befriends him. Good acting combined with some good boy shots (you get to see both shirtless) make this worth a see. Could have used a stronger script though. Title: D.A.R.Y.L. Boy Star(s): Barret Oliver (Daryl or D.A.R.Y.L.) Age: 11 Comments: Cute Barret Oliver is back again, slightly older than in Neverending Story but still cute. Story is fairly good but fails to live up to its potential. Title: Dennis the Menice Boy Star(s): Mason Gamble Age: 7 Comments: Little Mason is a cutie and is given many chances to show off his cuteness. He is in the bathtub several times and shirtless in several other scenes. Could be the next Ricky Shroder. Title: Double McGuffin Boy Star(s): Unknown Age: 9-13 Comments: Gang of boys solves a mystery. Youngest one isn't bad looking. Title: Dunston Checks In Boy Star(s): Eric Loyd Age: 8 Comments: Little Eric is back and you're bound to go ape over him in this comedy! He is as cute as ever as he tries to foil a thief using a chimp to do his dirty work. The humor is mildly amusing but the real eye popper is Eric. He runs around in loose baggy shorts much of the time and has a bubble bath with Dunston (first time in my life Ive wanted to be a chimp!). If you liked him in the Santa Clause you'll love him in this one! VCR Freeze Frame Moment: At one point little Eric is sleeping on the couch in his cute little shorts. A lovely sight of a sweet little boy sleeping. Title: Dutch Boy Star(s): Ethan Randall Age: 12 Comments: Man and boy travel cross-country and 'bond' together. An interesting plot idea that makes this a movie to check out on a slow night. Title: The Earthling Boy Star(s): Ricky Schroder Age: 8 Comments: The perfect showcase movie for Ricky's cuteness. Little Ricky's parents are killed while on vacation in Australia leaving him to fend for himself until a man (William Holden) reluctantly agrees to let him come with him. Title: Empire of the Sun Boy Star(s): Christian Bale (Jim) Age: 12 Comments: A feast for the eyes. Young Christian is a pleasure to watch throughout the movie. Features some wonderful close-ups of his peaches and cream face and a soundtrack that will have you dreaming of choirboys for a week. Title: Fallen Idol, The (French) Boy Star(s): Bobby Henry Age: 8 Comments: An old movie about a young blond French boy who worships the butler. Title: For A Lost Solder (Dutch) Boy Star(s): Maarten Smit (Jeroen) Age: 11 Comments: One of the most talked about man/boy films in a long time it is certainly a very interesting movie to watch. However as I left the theater I kept thinking to myself 'I would have liked to have seen more of the relationship between Walt and Jeroen as it grew and flowered'. The movie is a look back at one boy's brief love affair with a Canadian solder during WWII. Any boy lover will have to smile at some of the scenes between the two as they try and overcome the language barrier and the boy's initial wariness of adults. And when they engage in passionate kisses the pulse rate is sure to go up. However, the nagging feeling there are holes in what you are seeing persists, things about the relationship you would like to see but don't. For instance, the two are seen eyeing each other at a dance from a distance. Next scene the two are in empty dance hall dancing intimately. It certainly would have been interesting to watch how this happened. This is a good movie, a few changes and it could have been great. Afterword: After viewing the movie again I have realized that the scene in the dance hall did not take place but was in fact a wishful thought on the part of Jeroen. However, he is on screen enough to satisfy his many fans and his 'romance' with Mel Gibson is interesting to watch. Unfortunately the boy is only average looking and is never seen shirtless, despite what the advance publicity for the movie might indicate. From that you can easily tell he's all boy. So if your looking to spend a few hours gazing at an 11-year-old boy this could be the movie for you. Swayze provides the male figure Tom so desperately needs, a situation every true boy lover would love to be in. More male-bonding scenes and less of the 'conformist suburbia' plot would have been most welcome. Seth is a doll to watch but seems only tangential to the plot line. People may become suspicious if they catch you constantly going into the bathroom. ESCAPEE: A fart that slips out while taking a leak at the urinal or forcing a poop in a stall. This is usually accompanied by a sudden wave of embarrassment. If you release an escapee, do not acknowledge it. Pretend it did not happen. If you are standing next to the farter in the urinal, pretend you did not hear it. No one likes an escapee. It is uncomfortable for all involved. Making a joke or laughing makes both parties feel uneasy. JAILBREAK: When forcing a poop, several farts slip out at a machine gun pace. This is usually a side effect of diarrhea or a hangover. If this should happen, do not panic. Remain in the stall until everyone has left the bathroom to spare everyone the awkwardness of what just occurred. COURTESY FLUSH: The act of flushing the toilet the instant the poop hits the water. This reduces the amount of air time the poop has to stink up the bathroom. This can help you avoid being caught doing the WALK OF SHAME. WALK OF SHAME: Walking from the stall, to the sink, to the door after you have just stunk up the bathroom. This can be a very uncomfortable moment if someone walks in and busts you. As with farts, it is best to pretend that the smell does not exist...... can be avoided with the use of the COURTESY FLUSH. OUT OF THE CLOSET POOPER: A colleague who poops at work and is darn proud of it. You will often see an Out Of The Closet Pooper enter the bathroom with a newspaper or magazine under his or her arm. Always look around the office for the Out Of The Closet Pooper before entering the bathroom. SAFE HAVENS: A seldom used bathroom somewhere in the building where you can least expect visitors. Try floors that are predominantly of the opposite sex. This will reduce the odds of a pooper of your sex entering the bathroom. TURD BURGLAR: Someone who does not realize that you are in the stall and tries to force the door open. This is one of the most shocking and vulnerable moments that can occur when taking a poop at work. If this occurs, remain in the stall until the Turd Burglar leaves. This way you will avoid all uncomfortable eye contact. CAMO-COUGH: A phony cough that alerts all new entrants into the bathroom that you are in a stall. This can be used to cover-up a WATERMELON, or to alert potential Turd Burglars. Very effective when used in conjunction with an ASTAIRE. ASTAIRE: A subtle toe-tap that is used to alert potential Turd Burglars that you are occupying a stall. This will remove all doubt that the stall is occupied. If you hear an Astaire, leave the bathroom immediately so the pooper can poop in peace. WATERMELON: A poop that creates a loud splash when hitting the toilet water. This is also an embarrassing incident. If you feel a Watermelon coming on, create a diversion. See CAMO-COUGH. HAVANA OMELET: A case of diarrhea that creates a series of loud splashes in the toilet water..... often accompanied by an Escapee. Try using Camo-Cough with an Astaire. UNCLE TED: A bathroom user who seems to linger around forever. Could spend extended lengths of time in front of the mirror or sitting on the pot. An Uncle Ted makes it difficult to relax while on the crapper, as you should always wait to poop when the bathroom is empty. Exams. In this course of investigation I found that 70-226 was a very
important Exam concerned when developing Web Solutions.
I am asking this question to all those MCP & MCSE's who have taken this
exam. Does this exam really help you since with advent of .NET Technologies
everything to do with WEB is circled around ASP.NET and XML technology ?
Isn't this exam teaching things before .net was invented?

This exam deals with creating highly available solutions using the
Clustering and Network Load Balancing features of Windows 2000 Server...so
in a way it's related to Web development since you will likely see IIS boxes
using NLB or SQL boxes using Clustering...
