Many have served in the armed forces. For those who served, what practical
skills did you learn that prepared you for a professional career?

Considering that when I was in the armed forces, the state-of-the-art was a
Radio Shack TRS-80, I didn't learn a whole lot in the ways of IT. I can fix
your vacuum tube radar, though.

You can join the military in an IT career field. I would=20
recommend the AF. I got an assoc and bach degree and have=20
paid very little using tuition assistance and VA benefits.=20
I have been to about 15 formal IT courses and have around=20
9 certs now. I have not paid a dime for the tests. GI bill=20
is $985 a month for 36 months if you put in $1200 your=20
first year(definately do it). You can use that $35k to pay=20
for licensing and cert exams even if you don't pass the=20
first time. It is the way the military prepared me for an=20
IT career that made me decide to stay in for a career and=20
retire with over 20 years.

can build you a tank trap. I can drop a human target at 500 meters with
M-16A2.

No blood for oil!!

I'm so happy we stole their oil... Gas prices are finally down to $2.13 per
gallon from the $1.89 I was paying before.

Yay for imperialism!
