Hello All,

I was looking at the cert planner for W2K MCSE and noticed that they
increased the elective base - electives from 2 to 3. It states (Bumped up by
1 to count exams only once)

Does anyone know anything about this?

Thanks,

Stephen

I know you are required to pass a total of 7 exams for the W2K MCSE. Is
that what you are asking?

I have 6, not including the NT 4.0, but the way that is worded makes me think
that there is another two that I have to take.

In the cert planner, it shows taht you have to complete 3 exams, because
it puts the tests in every place possible, and you have to use one of
the 219/220/221 exams as your design exams

I have the same thing happening to me. I am an MCSA and I recently passed
the 70-217 and the Sec+ exams. Using the 70-218 from the MCSA as an elective
and getting credit for the Sec+ should satisfy my electives and I should only
need to pass a design exam now to get my MCSE but it seems to say that I am
going to require one more. I hope this is a bug as I developed my study path
18 months ago and spent alot of time and energy (and money) thinking this
upcoming test would be my last.

Here's what I have
70-210
70-215
70-216
70-217
70-218
Sec+

I am now currently going for thet 70-298.

Anyone's help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You need a design exam (see Nerd's post above) to complete your MCSE.
Take 220 and you would only need 227 to give you a + security for both
your MCSA and your MCSE.

the 70-298 that i mentioned is a design exam. Its for 2003 but is acceptible
for MCSE 2000. I chose this one because it is nescessary for the MCSE 2003:
Security Exam. If I were to take the 70-220 and then the 70-227 then i would
have MCSE 2000: Security but would need to take the 70-298 and 70-???(i
forget) to get the MCSE 2003: Security

I'd rather forego the MCSE 2000: Security cert and plan for the MCSE 2003:
Security exam. And since the 70-298 is acceptible for a MCSE 2000 design
exam, I figured I'd take that, and then the two 2k3 upgrade exams, and then
the final 2003 security exam.

But my question is why does my MCSE 2000 certification planner from
microsoft say that i need an extra elective other than the two that I already
have and IN ADDITION to the desgin exam it says I need. It says "bumped up
by 1 exam" under the elective category.
