So after the many updates and service packs on some of my older servers, that
dell was nice enough to think that 7GB partitions would be enough for future
upgrading, I have ran out of space. So I am pretty sure that extending boot
partitions are not doable....so what are people doing or using to fix this
problem? Reformating is not an option. Thanks in advance.

Ghost the partition to a bigger drive, install that as your boot device and
move on with life.

I do the non-supported fdisk + ntfsresize from a bootable disk I like called
"Recovery is Possible" but Ghost is definitely the better option here.

And for the love of all that is good and holy, get a fantabulous backup.

Good luck!

Two things you can do to get some 'quick' disk space back are:
1) If your system is stabile and up to date with patches, delete all the
uninstall patch files in the Windows Directory. That should get you a couple
gBs.
2) Move the page file off the system partition.
