MCSE: Security or Generic MCSE?
What would you recommend? I'm just a student right now,
going for certification, so I have no idea what exactly
would have the most appeal. I think I'd like to do
security just for the hell of it, but I'd like to know
whether it might be a better idea to focus on some other

MCSE suffix added to printed name...pretentious?
I just completed my MCSE/MCSA certs, after years of
actually working with and supporting the product.
Actually I manage the IT department for a large school
district. I see that a lot of people add the MCSE suffix
to their names in their signatures, and was wondering
what the overall reaction is to that before I start
putting it on my signatures. Is it more prevalent from
the people who haven't yet "been there, done that", or is
it common even for those who have already proven
themselves?
I just read what I wrote, and I know it may come off
wrong to some, but I'm genuine in my inquiry, and I don't

Hello all,
I have cleared, 210, 215 216 and 217 Exams and was
studying for MCSE exams WIn 2000. I just manged to see
the MCSA requirements and it said u have to pass
210,215,216 and 218 and you get MCSA. So if i just give
218 will it fetch me an MCSA cert. After i get the same
will i after finishing 7 exams will i get MCSE Win 2000
cert???

Using VMWare as a test lab?
I want to setup a test lab in my home..... for learning
purposes naturally.
I currently only have one PC at home.... a Dell 4100...
512 meg ram.... 45 gig drive..... Win XP Pro..... 21"
monitor.
I was told that instead of buying more PCs.... that one
could use VMWare and run "virtual" PCs.
Is my current 4100 capable of running VMWare?
If yes.... which is better and why? To run VMWare on
ONE pc.... vs having say three "boxes"?

Hi guys,
For a long time I was just 1 elective short of MCSE NT4
(long story). Any way I just passed the ISA Server exam
which according to
www.microsoft.com/traincert/mcp/mcse/nttrack.asp is a
valid elective for mcse nt4. How long should it take to
receive the notice in the mail? Would this mcse take
longer than 2000 or 2003?

EXAM 70-226 query and interpretation?
I just sat the Designing Web Infrastructure exam 70-226..
I did not pass. I work with Web Infrastructure everyday
and used the following exam preparation questions from
www.measureup.com. It seems that the answers they gave
and their explanations was what I understood and deemed
correct. Unfortunately there were similar exam questions
and I answered according to what I learnt from the
www.measureup.com study guides. It seems to me that there
answers and explanations are INCORRECT and is not what
Microsoft have as the answers. I only did not know 2
questions the rest answered according to what I learnt
from measureup. IS Microsoft's only real true study guide
reference only transcendors. Please explain..
If I sat this exam again tomorrow I would again fail as

Subnetting Problem Contd
Two days ago I posted the follwing question from the MS
Trng Kit for 70-216. I received several responses but none
that really explained why the answer to the question was
selection 'd.'
So, I lined out in binary form all of the eight IP
addresses. It turns out that the 'd' answer that changes
the subnet mask to 0/21 isolates the right most 3 bits of
the 3rd octet.
With the 0/21 mask there are two nets using 24 and 30 in
the second octet. Then the host addresses are changed by
one in the third octet.
But, the question remains, why does this make the routing
tables simpler for the router?
Interesting problem, don't you love that MS does not give
an explanation.

Problem signing up for the MCP NewsFlash
Has anyone else run into problems signing up for the MCP NewsFlash? I
can check the box, and then I get this message:

And.. then the MCP NewsFlash box is no longer checked. I can

how can we use RD with only 2 computers? say we have a computer at home
(workstation) with XP on it (NOT member of ANY domain, just a plain old
stand alone computer), and we have a laptop with XP also. ok, now I want to
connect from my laptop -with DIALUP- to my PC at home with RD. is this
possible? if possible, how do you configure the home PC to 'answer' the
call? and how do you configure the laptop to 'call'?

notice it is scenario based, but I do not know how many questions/scenarios
it have.
I passed 218 last week, I prefer the old status, not in particular the
points, but the percent in each theme I believe that is very helpfull as
