I haven't heard any Don Henley on the radio in a while.

Possibly. Try turning off the firewall on the SP2 computer and see if it
still works. Did this happen as soon as you installed SP2? There are a
lot of other questions in my mind. Have you installed anything right
before this happened? Like the other poster said, have you pinged each
computer, locally and remotely? Are the cables ok and plugged in? As
simple as that seems, unplug them and plug them in again. Are you using
a hub? Is it working properly? What does ipconfig tell you?
See what I mean? You've got a myriad of places to look, but not so many
that you can't do it. Just think it through and check each aspect of it.
If you have a router, ping it. There are many programs out there that
will tell you what each node is doing all along the chain. One is
neotrace. You can get a demo version for free. Search google or
whatever for it. It will work long enough to tell you where the
connection is failing ( I think it's a 10 day demo). Just ping the
remote computer from neotrace and see what each node does. The one that
doesn't answer is your problem. If it doesn't even get to the second
node, then it's probably your local computer. Of course, pinging your
localhost will tell you that, too.
