Hello, I had a problem with IIS NOT compressing Static
pages (even though all the settings were right) and I
wanted to share my solution.
We had a problem where IIS would not compress an static
file. After hours of work, we found this to be a problem
with the index. We suppect the problem was caused when we
imaged our hard drive to a new, larger drive during a
server upgrade. (We used Maxtor's software to do this
while the server was running, we also used Ghost for
backups).
The solution was to turn off indexing for the drive, and
then turn it on again. To do this, Open My Computer,
Right click on the drive where the pages are stored,
click Properties, Turn off Index this Drive, Press Apply.
Select change all sub folders and files, click okay.
Turn Index back on, click Okay. Select all sub folders
and files, click okay.
You are done. You may want to repeat this process on all
drives, even if they don't contain websites.
