IIS version and Update

I am putting the original IIS from Win2000 on my machine as a learning
tool. Question is:

How can I tell what version IIS I have?
How can I upgrade to the latest version?

IIS versions are tied to OS versions

Windows NT4: IIS 4.0 (or lower)
Windows 2000: IIS 5.0
Windows XP Pro: IIS 5.1
Windows Server 2003: IIS 6.0

the only way to upgrade from 5.0 to 6.0 is to upgrade the host operating
system.
