when I use tracert on an internet connection I want the details of the route that has been traced to remain on the screen and not immediately vanish. How do I do this?

Start->Run, cmd ENTER

tracert <IP HERE>

This has however nothing to do with IIS (a webserver).

Good question, but not IIS related. The group that would likely be
best is a Windows admin group, where they'd tell you to open the
command window before running it, not to run it from the Start -> Run
menu option. If you asked them. But it's not IIS. :)
