.shtml .shtm .stm files get 404 error when application is
configured to use ssinc.dll. However change them to use
asp.dll and they work fine. How can I get ssinc.dll to
work?

What version of IIS are you running?

You have to add ssinc.dll to the "web server extensions" list and allow it
to be processed. The reason it works when mapped to ASP is because ASP is
allowed already.

Let me know if you need assistance setting up the web service extension.
