    - OWA and Sharepoint on same server? I recently installed an Exchange 2003 server for a client, nothing else is running on this server. OWA worked fine. However, an associate installed Sharepoint on the same server and now my OWA is no longer working. Does anyone know how to make both work on the same server?     - server 2003 web edition I hope this is the appropriate place for this question. I would like to use Server 2003 Web Edition to host some websites. One thing I noticed in the server comparision web page: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/evaluation/features/comparefeatures.mspx In the web and application services section it indicates that .Net Framework version 2.0 is not supported. I assume that this means that ASP.Net 2.0 is also not supported. Does anyone know whether both of these things are true or fales.     - Wildcard mapping on IIS 6.0 Hi to everyone! We have an asp.net application (Framework 1.1) and we had to add the functionality of rewriting urls, for this we used a wildcard application mapping on our development machines (Windows XP Pro with IIS 5.0). Everything worked fine. Then we installed this application on a Windows Server 2003 with IIS 6.0. When we added the wildcard application mapping (which it's a bit different from IIS 5.0), pointing to the aspnet_isapi.dll, two things happened: 1) We saw thru the task manager that it consumed lots of CPU 2) We tried to access the site, and it seemed to be hung up, and it couldn't handle files like css, js, etc, even when in our development machines everything worked fine. The IIS logs didn't show any error. We removed the mapping and at least we could access the site with its normal look-and-feel. Then we tried adding a .js mapping, just to see what happened, and again we couldn't access the site. We remove it and everything worked again. The same happened adding a .css mapping, etc. Please, could anyone suggest what could be possibly going on (IIS, server configuration, etc)? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!     - Permissions Problem Somehow, someway, I've inadvertantly modified a setting in IIs and now when users attempt to reach the external web site, they get a "you are not authorized to view this page message". I've looked on the permissions tab and things seem to be set the the way they should be, but they're are still getting this error. Suggestions on how to fix? Thanks!     - IIS and remote access Hi I want to connect to my remote server (IIS) from my computer I choose connect and enter adres of remote server, user and pass. But conncetion is failed. At the remote server I have open several ports for example 1433 to connect to sql server instance.     - Problem setting basic authentication in IIS6 I've got a server running IIS6 on server 2003, and I have a couple of websites setup on it. One one of the virtual hosts, I'm trying to setup a pasword protected subfolder. I make the folder, set the permissions from within the IIS MMC, turn on basic Auth, set the domain and realm, and then turn off Anonymous authentication. However even though I'm doing all the steps as listed in TechNet and the help docs, IIS doesn't want to prompt me for a password.     - Problem setting IIS compression down to folder I found this example on MSDN for setting compression down to the folder level. adsutil set w3svc/1/root/Home/StyleSheets/DoStaticCompression true When I try something similar with adsutil set w3svc/1/root/MyWebSite/Subdirectory1/Subdirectory2/DoDynamicCompression true I get an error message of "The path requested could not be found. ErrNumber: -2147024893 (0x80070003)" Should I not be able to specify down to one folder which files I want to be dynamically compressed?     - Does msinet.ocx work with compression? I am working with a VB 6 ActiveX control that uses msinet.ocx to make http requests. I set the request header to include Accept-Encoding: gzip, deflate. When I watch the requests with Fiddler, the appropriate requests are getting compressed, but msinet appears to be unable to read the response properly. Every other part of my application is working properly with compression turned on, including xml http requests. When I turn compression off at the server, msinet starts working properly, again. Is msinet simply not able to process compressed responses, or is there a different control that I should be using to make server requests that will allow me to take advantage of IIS 6 compression?     - intermittent server cannot be found I have been baffled for about a month regarding a problem that my web site is experiencing. The site intermittently is inaccessible to some users who receive a page cannot be displayed error titled "dnserror". At the times when some users are reporting problems accessing the site, other users are working without incident. Also, the site has intranet and internet users. Intranet users aren't experiencing this problem at all. I have been steadfastly insisting that this is a network-related problem since nothing is logged on the server. Is it possible that instead the web server is actually reporting this error? If so, what kind of status code would it be reporting? I run Windows 2003 pre service pack 1. I use NLB but have only one node in the cluster currently. I have reduced the nodes down to 1 to try to troubleshoot this problem. The application is written in ASP.NET 1.1.     - Websites not Running! Hi, I am experiencing a few problems with running IIS. First let me explain what I am running and such. I am running Windows XP Pro x64, and am running IIS 6.0. I have FTP turned on and it is running, I have messaging on, and it too is running. But my website(s) are not. I have tried restarting the service from both the management console and a command line, neither of which work (see error below). When I try to start the web service the Error = "The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process." When I try to browse even the default site, "iisstart.htm", I get Error = "404 Not Found (Error 2)" This problem just recently started so I have tried to un-install anything that I installed since just before experiencing this problem, and I have had no luck there., I have also even gone through the effort of un-installing and reinstalling IIS to no avail.     - IIS Serving Web Pages to slow I've a problem, that i can't solve. I have a windows2003, with iis6 It work fine until a week ago. Now at some hours of the day It take a huge amount of time to serve pages and I can't get to connect to the machine, with terminal services. At first i think it was a problem with my isp because even with html pages it was slow, and in terminal services give me connection time out.     - IIS 5.1 on XP Pro cannot serve ASP classic Hi all, I just got a new laptop, Windows XP Pro SP2. I installed IIS 5.1 using add/remove Windows Components. I installed Visual Studio 6 SP6 and Visual Studio .Net (I need both of them). Exact same setup was working fine on my old laptop. On the new laptop: IIS will serve .aspx and .html pages no problem. When I try a classic .asp page, I get -2147467259 (0x80004005) as my only response, and Error 500 in the IIS log. No events in the event log, no other information anywhere that I can find. I gave IUSR_computername full permissions to the wwwroot directory: no luck. I tried copying the entire inetsrv directory from my old laptop to the new one (including asp.dll), but IIS goes completely haywire, so I had to restore the original directory. Under the directory security tab, under authentication methods, anonymous access is enabled, with no other option for authentication selected. When we try to open the website using http://localhost or http://localhost/index.html it does not open up the page and following error message is displayed.     - Compressing POST to IIS/5.0 I know it's theoretically possibly to serve gzipped data to a client request but I want to know if it can be done the other way. That is, if it is possible for IIS to accept a compressed POST from a client. I have an SQLXML 3.0 application that accepts XML posts from a client. These XML files are often up around 5MB but easily compress using gzip down to about 500KB. Does anyone know if IIS/5.0, and in particular with SQLXML 3.0, will accept gziped http? And if so how.     - IIS on 2003 ASP.NET configuration issues I have moved my server from win2000 to win 2003. A small ASP.NET page that ran fine on 2000. Now on 2003 I can not get it to execute. If I go in and exectuer permisions are set to none, I get HTTP Error 403.1 - Forbidden: Execute access is denied. Setting the permissiong ot script only produces HTTP Error 404 - File or directory not found. I have a default.aspx in the directory, I have default.aspx as default document type. (and it fails if the default.aspx is epxplicitly specified) creating clicking the Create button to create and application has no different effect.     - IP Address and Domain Name Restrictions Button is Greyed out - Help I just re-installed XP Pro SP2 (Total wipe and install) on my computer and after installing IIS the IP Address and Domain Name Restrictions button in Directory Security is greyed out. The only IP allowed access to the server is 127.0.0.1 my own computer. Before the re-install all computers on my network had access to the server. The original install was done using an XP Disk without SP2 and I did the updates from the web. This time I used an XP Disk with SP2 to save time on the updates.     - WebDav access restrictions Hi, I am trying to Implement WebDav for specific users on IIS6 I enabled Webdav for a virtual folder, and tested that it was working both from the LAN and from outside the DMZ using "net use * http://domain.com/folder" This all worked fine, except all visitors have full access to the folder. I then disabled anonymous access, enabled "basic authentication" and tried connecting again. This time it asked for a username and password. "perfect" I think, and typed in a domain users username/password. It comes up with "error 5 - access denied". I tried all sorts of combinations of users, even the domain admin. Everyone gets access denied. What am I missing ? I set up the NTFS permissions on the folder to allow the specific users the access they require, but everybody gets the "access denied".     - IIS 5.1 Documentation is broken. I can't read the IIS 5.1 documentation. The docs page opens fine with its default article but the TOC and the Index does not appear. All I see is a black or white area that gets a line around it when I move the mouse over it (due to that IE patch). Interestingly it appears fine under Firefox (this is really bad). I have tried putting it into Trusted Sites with no luck. The parent windows can not get the session ID of the child windows anymore. Is it related to the name of virtual directory? bug?     - Help with IIS6 AppPool Crash and IISSTATE tool... At 9:30 last Thursday night, the AppPool for my main website began crashing. The Application log shows the crash but provides a completely useless error message. I tried using /AUXSOURCE (to open Event Viewer) as suggested, but did not receive any additional information. After some Googling, I found the IISSTATE tool and ran it on my webserver. I identified (through trial and error) how to reproduce the error consistently. By taking one action on my website, I see 4 CLR errors fly by on the IISSTATE output screen. By taking another specific action after that, I can kill the process. This forces IISSTATE to output a text file which is shown below. All of this is great...but the problem is that the one thing I'm really interested in -- what is causing the crash -- is blank! It seems to me that the "DLL (!FunctionName) that failed: " should be followed with some information that tells me what failed. But it is blank and doesn't offer any help...unless I'm reading it incorrectly. Can anyone correct my use of the IISSTATE tool or offer any suggestions on what else to try?     - iis 6 - smtp hi our company has a small (make that tiny) upload link (32kbps) and when the marketing guys start sending mail (with attachments) the upload drops to a crawl (if it isn't already). to alleviate this problem i plan to set up a local iis6 smtp at our proxy server - ie all outgoing email joins the same single queue and the job of sending is taken up by the server, staff don't have wait hours waiting for a send operation to finish. i have the following Qs. 1) is iis6 smtp robust enuf? can it handle large attachments? large queues (100s of email) ? 2) while the marketing guys are ok with this plan, they want/require a mechansim to 'see' in real-time, what emails are in queue and what have not been delivered. they have said that a listing such as a webpage with email fields [from, subject, datetime] would be enuf. can this be done? how so? appreciated any help and thanx riyaz Tag: page cannot be displayed Tag: 383378

    - WMPlayer ActiveX Control - only fails when using IIS Hi, I'm slowly starting to lose my hair over this, so any help is appreciated. I have a XP Pro desktop machine connected to my stereo and uses it as a jukebox. I control it with my laptop using the WMPlayer-control via good old ASP-pages. There are no problems playing mp3s and wma from local drives, but when I try to access a web-radio the WMPlayer-object returns an error indicating that the file/stream can't be located. I've tried to reproduce this error in a vbs-file, but this works without any problems. I have a suspicion that restrictions might apply for the IIS internal IWAM_** user, but I haven't got a clue where to look.     - Intermittent problem - with IIS or dotnet or? We have a production web server with several dotnet apps open to the public. It's Windows 2003, all current service packs, Dotnet Framework 1.1 on the server. Occasionally, we have found one page a .aspx page - had the form tags moved around on it. We're not sure what caused it, but putting out the .aspx page and the dll file fixed the problem. Subsequently, we've had the app - a warranty card program - that writes data to a SQL database. At times, the app just quits working. We use some javascript to validate items on the form when the submit button is clicked. It then writes the fields to the database. The javascript always works, but at times it will not write anything to the database at all. We're not getting any messages in the event log, and the server itself is stable. I frequently find in the log files, entries with an sc-status of 200, and a sc-win32-status of 6. "net helpmsg 6" tells me "invalid handle". These log entries coincide with client errors of "cannot find server or dns error". I have attempted placing this application on a sql server, but found that the same errors appear.     - Virtual Directory authentication Hello, i have a problem with my virtual directory on my W2k3 SP1. I installed a web server in the DMZ. There is the webpage locatet. I would like to add a virtual directory from a LAN ressource. I configured on the IIS a Domain Account (Only Domain User right) for the connection. The file list could be displayed. I tried to connect from a workstation, but the webpage could not be opened, an error 500 messages appears. Many tests later, i add a administator account and tried again - the website opened. I have no problems with other types of files (for example with .asp-files). I can rename and delete files also.     - mail redirect hi i want to write a middle-tier mail processing server. users send mail to @myserver.com, but real msgs will arrive to @gmail.com or whatever. is there an option to REDIRECT a message i receive, after i process it, to the server, instead of FORWARDING it? the reason i need this is to keep the original "To" field in the message. i know i can spoof the "To" field using a different RCPT TO address than the one in the mail's header - but most mail systems see this as spam (gmail for instance). ideas? thanks.     - IIS and ISCSI Hi, I want to start with describing the problem. We have an web farm consisting of 4 web servers whit 2 DC/File server's which use an I SCSI cluster for data storage. We seem to have a problem a) Sometimes the share stops responding on the Web server and results in an IIS hang until the share is available again. This issue is due for a few seconds but lasts long enough to let it be noticed. Also this issue only occurs one in 3 or 4 weeks but on all web servers. Th strange part is that this hang is a chain first server 1 and it restores itself then follows server 2 and so on. I am on windows xp home edition and have 2mb broadband, i have no problems
surfing the net until i try to go to a page where i need to sign in i.e,
emails messenger bank etc or any other sign in page when i try it come back
with page cannot be displayed this only started this week and i have not
changed any settings i have tried system restore but to no avail,

You mean you can't browse other web pages after you sign in to certain
website?
Well, this is IE issue and not IIS. Try IE newsgroup.
