i'm not sure where to post this:
i can't get my new sony vaio, purchased in the u.s., to
connect to the internet anywhere in china, via lan
connections or wi-fi. is there some sort of encryption
difference? is there a way to fix this? i'm living here
for a year and desperately need my computer.

This is the wrong group for this, and your problem isn't easy to
