    - What do you name the home page? Have IIS up and running from my Home pc. I can get to it from the office by IP/page name. I want to just type in the IP and have the home page come up.     - <form method=post/get problems I have a Windows 2003 server, running IIS 6, I've also installed php. I have asp.net versions 2.0.50727, and 1.1.4322 installed and have tried both with the same results. when I use the <form action="blahblah.php" method="post"> or <form action="blahblah.php" method="get"> command in a web document, no data is submitted. Yet I can take the exact same documents put them on a unix(apache) box and the form's function flawlessly. I've tested my php installation to verify functionality, I've tried both ASP.net versions, I've added .html to the application configuration for this site and pointed to asp.dll with verbs of GET,POST. I've modified machine.config and web.config files(although I have not rebooted the server as it is a production server, nor am I familiar enough with these 2 files to be certain I have edited them properly). I have also made sure that the Network services account has sufficient privledges on the appropriate directories.....     - IIS Help We have WIN2003/ IIS 6.0 webserver hosting multiple websites. These sites are setup on single IP address using host-headers. Everything works fine and any of these sites can be browsed from workstations connected to Internet, however I can not browse these websites from the WebServer itself.     - Microsoft Web Application Stress Tool - Results RAM dependent When I put more RAM on the box that was running my stress test (as opposed to the server that is hosting the app) I got approximately a 100% improvement in the speed of my web application!! This must be incorrect. An improvement to the load simulating machine shouldn't improve the performance of the application and it leads me to think I did something wrong. But what? Note, I watched the load simulating box's processor and it never went above 50% during the test (either before or after the RAM addition). It isn't a complicated test. I am only testing a single page and I was only simulating 10 users. Before the RAM addition the TTLB was 50 seconds (ugh), after the RAM the TTLB was 5 seconds!!! I didn't change the server hosting the app one bit--just the box simulating the load. The load simulating box (W2k/IIS 5.0) had 128 MB before and 1.28 GB RAM after. It has a Pentium IV - 1.6 GHZ.     - Slightly OT - thin client configuration Hi. I know this is not directly IIS related but I though some folks here might be able to help anyway. We are deploying a browser based solution in to a factory environment for use by manual workers. We want to minimize hardware costs; we just need a system that comes with a screen and capable of running a browser, preferably internet explorer. Do such systems exist & does anyone have experience with them, and how do they compare to a normal PC particularly as PCs seem to be pretty cheap these days anyway?     - XP SP2 IIS won't start This is a brand-new install of Windows XP SP2 (SP2 was included in the original installation) on a Dell Optiplex GX280 with 512mb RAM. I've installed IIS, but when I go to start it it says: The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has noe enabled devices associated with it. There is also this error in the System Event Log: DCOM got error "The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it. " attempting to start the service IISADMIN with arguments "" in order to run the server: {A9E69610-B80D-11D0-B9B9-00A0C922E750} I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling. All I have installed is the .NET Framework 1.1 and hardware drivers, and it was giving exactly the same error before I installed the Framework. WEB_A listens at 80 and serves our company web site to the internet. We have a valid SSL certificate installed at WEB_A We want to publish content (an OWA Server) that is at WEB_B:8084 Our Firewall is a Cisco PIX, no other firewall can be used.     - Enabling the "Change Password" Feature in OWA in Exchange Server 2003 SP2 on Windows Server 2003 SP1 Hi, I am posting this in the hope that someone will be able to assist me. I am in the process of setting up an Exchange Server 2003 infrastructure, comprising of two Exchange servers a Front-End and a Back-End server. Both of these servers are running Windows Server 2003 SP1 and Exchange Server 2003 SP2. So far, I have configured the Front-End server with an SSL certificate, which I obtained from a internal Enterprise CA; this has been installed on the Default Website on the Front-End server and I have tested it with a Windows XP SP2 client which is fully updated with all security and critical patches for Windows and Internet Explorer. OWA itself is functioning fine, but I'm struggling to enable the "Change Password" feature in IIS 6.0. I have had this working previously in an Exchange Server 2003 SP1 ennvironment but this is the first time I have set this up in an Exchange Server 2003 SP2 environment. At the moment, I have followed the instructions in the following support article: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;297121 After making the changes to the adsutil.vbs script and creating the IISADMPWD virutual directory and editing the 'DisablePassword' so it is '0' regsitry entry at the following location within the Registry on the Front-End server: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeWeb\OWA and rebooting the server, the "Change Password" button is not visable within the "Options" page within OWA. I have also reviewed the following support article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/833734/EN-US/ and re-registering the "iispschg.dll" file within the C:\WINDOWS\system32\inetsrv\iisadmpwd folder I then rebooted the server and then logged onto OWA using the same client and the "Change Password" button was still not visable.     - ISAPI filter for SPPS I have installed ISAPI filter on IIS6.0 for SPPS running on the same machine. The filter I have installed is on the "web sites". Now when I access the SPPS main page, I get ISAPI filter authentication prompt and I am able to login successfully. SPPS is installed on default web site and I have enabled Anonymous login for the default website. SharePoint central administration site is under "web sites" running on different site than the one on which SPPS is installed. (SPPS created new virtual site for central admin site). Security mode of the central administration site is IWA. Whenever I am trying to open central administration I get IWA prompt and I am able to login successfully but now if I click on any link on the SPPS portal page or try to access it, I am gettign SPPS error message "access denied". If I move my ISAPI filter one level down to default website (SPPS site) then everything works fine. Can anyone explain this behavior?     - Mapping a drive from a 2003 web server to a local server Hi Am trying to create a mapped drive on a local Windows 2003 Server from our Windows 2003 Web Server SP1 on the Internet , the folder on the 2003 web server is a virtual folder in IIS pointing to a folder on the C: drive, but keep getting the error message: the drive could not be mapped because no network was found. Yet am able to browse to the site using internet explorer and I can ping the web server. I can create the requried mapped drive on a client PC with Windows XP, but not on a server running Windows 2000 or 2003, the latter with and without SP1. Do Windows server products permit the creation mapped drives over the Internet in default confugurations? Or do you have to enable a service or a domain controller policy/group policy setting in order for this to work? I understand the security implications but can be sorted later.     - Logon failure: user account restriction. Error Message At some earlier time I had IIS running smoothly on my machine without any issues. Subsequently various programmes have been added to the system (including MS-RMS) which may have made changes to the Local Security policies. Now I am getting the following error message: Logon failure: user account restriction. Possible reasons are blank passwords not allowed, logon hour restrictions, or a policy restriction has been enforced. I have trawled through various forums and newsgroups. - to no avail. I have checked that the IUSR_machinename user id is a valid account and that the passwords are the same. I have uninstalled and reinstalled IIS a number of times.     - HTTP 400 - Bad Request Hello, I get HTTP 400 message when I access SMS Reporting Web Site from a Windows 2003 Server through Terminal Client. This only happens with certain accounts. With some accounts it works fine with out any problem. The report works for the failed accounts from from a windows 2000 Server through Terminal Client.     - IIS Compression Enabled, downloads fail Hi, I have enabled HTTP compression in IIS6 and set the compression level to 9 and it works a treat!! My site has sped up by 55%!!! One problem though. It is a ASP.NET application that created dynamic reports etc etc which a client can donwload then. We use the conventional way of popping up a form called frmDownload.aspx which will receive the memstream and binarywrite it out. This has always worked until now. Now what we get is the following. It still pops the window up and you get the download file dialog, but it wants to download frmDownload.aspx and even if you say yes, it comes back with an error saying internet explorer cant donwload the document and it contains no data.     - Cannot receive e-mail or connect to web pages after standy mode Running Windows XP Service Pack 2. After booting up I can receive e-mail (via Microsoft Exchange) and can connect to web pages (via Internet Explorer), but if I enter standby mode and then come back out of standby, I can do neither. (But it does appear that I can connect to my IP server). After IE has been chugging for a while, I get a Message "The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, of you may need to adjust your browser settings", followed by a half-page of instructions on what to check. I have performed these checks, to no avail. At the bottom of the page is listed "Cannot find server or DNS error - Internet Explorer. If I restart windows I can then bring up web pages and get e-mail OK, just as long as I haven't previously entered the standby mode. Would appreciate any help.     - restorable web config backup I have IIS servers with MANY websites on each. For disaster-recovery-preparedness, I am trying to understand how to create restorable backups of the websites and all their associated configurations (host headers, home dir, etc).     - client certificate I have installed a server cert from Verisign on a 2003 server. My vendor supplied me with a client cert that will be required. I have configured IIS web sites to require client certs and mapped that cert to a user I created on that server. When I try to test from a Windows 2000 client using the client cert, it gets past the Accept server cert screen, but my browser never finds any client certs and I get the error: "The page requires a client certificate" I also noticed that client certs must be in the personal store, yet I can't get them to import there at the client.     - Logging exclusions I have ip ranges set up for web sites and ftp. Whenever one is activated in ftp it logs it in the event window under the FTP service name. However, I can find no reference in any logs for HTTP rejections. I can see the packets coming in at my router, but cannot find any logging of access or rejection in any of the server logs.     - IIS Worker Process not caught if DEP set to essential Windows bina We have an application built using ASP pages that use Crystal RDC 10 components to view reports. The issue results because the report uses functions added to the Crystal framework using a Visual Basic component to add custom functions (Crystal Reports User Function Library or CRUFL). Crystal support has confirmed this as a known issue with Crystal RDC 10 and servers running Windows 2003 Sp1 that support hardware nased DEP. They do not currently plan to fix this in version 10. What happens is that the report using the CRUFL will not appear in the Crystal Viewer under IIS. Instead, a message is logged to the System event log stating that a "fatal comminucations error occured". With rapid-fail protection enabled under IIS, the application pool will be automatically stopped. We hav identified two possible solutions: 1) Set DEP on for esstential winows binaries and services 2) Set DEP for all applications and services, but add the IIS Worker Process (w3wp.exe) to the exception list. What I'm having a trouble understanding is why the issue is not still happening when the option is set for "essential windows binaries and services". My question are: 1) Isn't w3wp.exe considered an essential windows binary? 2) Is it possible that this setting allows the Crystal RDC components to be excluded from DEP even though the root application is w3wp.exe? 3) Is there a way to add components to the exception list or is this limited to applications?     - Max length of a http post in IIS 5.0 on a w2k server Hi, I'm trying to submit a form with a textarea-field, which has about 80'000 characters. Somehow the server receives only a certain amount of data (about 30'000 bytes). I've been trying to get some info on this problem, and what I found were http://support.microsoft.com/?id=820129 (INF: Http.sys Registry Settings for IIS) and http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;260694 (Description of the MaxClientRequestBuffer Registry Value). Unfortunately these are describing how update IIS 6.0 and/or Windows 2003 server, but I'm running IIS 5.0 on a Windows 2000 server. Thus I couldn't find any http.sys or it's entry in the registry. Are there any equivalent actions I could take to achieve the same results in my particular environment? Basically what I'm looking for is to increasing the amount of data, which can be read/processed through a http post. I appreciate your help! On the iis I used a modified php.ini-recommend. I thought this might be the issue so I used the same php.ini on my test server(mentioned above) and again all scripts worked without flaw.     - Login problems I am hoping this might be the correct newsgroup to post to. I apologize if not. I am running an ASP 2.0 site on IIS 5.1. I have a strange problem and I am not sure where to look. When a user goes to the URL, the login does not work. The page acts as if the user is being logged in, but the logged in control does not show the user logged in and debugging the site does not show the user logged in either. As i wanted to run my web application on IE, i am however unable to view the result of my coding in my web application. The error message is as shown below: Server Error in 'my directory/webapp'. Server cannot access application directory "c:/my directory/webapp". The directory does not exist or is not accessible because of security settings. I do not know how to rectify this problem. The SBS2k3 LAN is not networked to the NT4 Web Server. Both the SBS2k3 and the NT4 server are connected to the Router LAN using the external NICS of both servers. CEICW Firewall is setup so that it opens HTTP ports 8080 and 8443. The router is configured via UPnP. A manual Router entry directs all HTTP:80 traffic to the NT4 Server. All other traffic is directed to SBS2k3. The SBS2k3 IIS Default server has port 8080 added to its response addresses and 8443 to its secure addresses. Ports 80 and 443 are still enabled To reach the SBS2k3 from the WAN the user enters http://mycompany.com:8080/ and reaches the Welcome Page without a problem. The Welcome Page is also available when the user enters https://mycompany.com/. Any secure sites are reachable by entering https://mycompany.com/remote , https://mycompany.com/exchange etc or by entering the Welcome page via https with or without port numbers. The PROBLEM? The only link on the welcome page that works after entering via http://mayconpany.com:8080/ ; is Information and Answers. Since "Companyweb" has not been set up for external entry the fact it cannot be accessed is not an issue. Neither Network Configuration nor the RWW link work. It is available for Windows 2000 as well, but it does not work as good as
the one in Windows Server 2003.
