Hi Ben,
it seems I had two different problems .... the first one was
fixed by your suggestion .... after that I've been able to hang my
installation without alarm messages .... ;-) .... but the actual problem
was some kind of incompatibility between Windows Installer and my Firewall
... somethingh similar was described in the following article :

The fix suggested for the Win2K OpSys worked fine.
