error w3Ctrs 100 while installing IIS on Windows Professional 2000

Hello,

I cannot complete the installation of the IIS component on my PC since the
WWW Publishing Service hangs while the Event Log shows events like the
following :

Source: W3Ctrs (and IISInfoCtrs) EventId: 1003

Unable to query the W3SVC (HTTP) service performance data. The error code
returned by the service is data DWORD 0.

I found some hints about Performance Monitor ... but no counter seems to be
active on my box ... Did someone experienced something similar ?

To be totally honest .... I'm trying to install the IIS again after
deinstalling (succesfully !) it .... may be something rememebers the old
installation ... but I cannot figure out what ....

You'll need to reload the counters. Try the unload & load counter commands
at the end of this article.

Hi Ben,
it seems I had two different problems .... the first one was
fixed by your suggestion .... after that I've been able to hang my
installation without alarm messages .... ;-) .... but the actual problem
was some kind of incompatibility between Windows Installer and my Firewall
... somethingh similar was described in the following article :

The fix suggested for the Win2K OpSys worked fine.
