    - Accessing Biztalk HTTP .dll returns 500 Any hints or tips you have for this C++ programmer in a mire of IIS and networking are very much appreciated :D I can't debug why I am getting 500's when trying to access, through a virtual directory using Internet Explorer, C:\Program Files\Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004\HttpReceive\BTSHTTPReceive.dll. According to the MSDN link below I should be getting a blank page, with entries in the Event Viewer for Biztalk. I have previously had days of hassle with 403's and 401's trying to get this working. For the 500 I get no errors in the Event Viewer. I additionally allowed access to everything. - All related NTFS permissions seem fine - In the Local Policies I have enabled Success and Failure auditing for both Logon options.     - javascript error Friends, Here's a problem that's confounded me. I've been putting together an intranet site for a customer on a Win2K box. Up until a couple of weeks ago, the site worked fine.. now when browsing to default.asp of the root directory, I get the following: Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0129' Unknown scripting language /wwwroot/inc_functions.asp, line 2161 The scripting language 'javascript1.2' is not found on the server. The file (inc_functions.asp) has never once been changed since the site was first deployed. It does have have a <script> tag after the asp code ends, and the tag is <script language="javascript1.2" runat="server">. Again, this never had a problem before, and on my local machine (XP Pro with IIS), I don't get this error. Also, I don't know if it's relevant in this case, but jscript.dll on my customer's server and jscript.dll on my local machine are the same version. I am hoping someone has seen this before and found a resolution. Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciate.     - Exchange Forwarder & OWA As per a security auditor's recommendation, we're looking into installing a Windows 2003 R2 server that I've built into our DMZ. Ideally I'd like this box to have 2 roles. 1) Act as an SMTP forwarder between the outside world and our internal Exchange server. I'm assuming that using the SMTP virtual server in IIS is a good start. How do I set this up though and should something be done on our Exchange server as well. 2) Have the same OWA config that we have currently on our internal Exchange server and just have the version on this new server pass the credentials to our Exchange server.     - IIS webdav editing .asp files I am trying to setup IIS 6 to allow web developers to connect up to the web root of a website via WebDav and work on site files including .asp and .aspx files. I have setup a website for this purpose in IIS. The home directory is mapped to a local folder on the machine. Under the 'home directory' tab all the permission boxes are checked ('script source access, read, write, etc...). Execute permissions are set to 'scripts and executables'. I've also removed .asp from the 'application extensions' list accessed from the 'configuration' tab. Basic authentication is turned on under 'directory security/authenticati on and access control'. I do not have URLScan installed, so any filtering is by IIS only. This is all working as expected; I can mount the WebDav connection in Windows Explorer and navigate, view and open/save files. I can also access the website via a browser and browse directories/view browser appropriate files, etc. The problem is that I cannot access any .asp files at all. If I look in the logs for the website I get a entry for the WebDav request (PROPFIND) with a 404 error. The file *is there* I just can't access it. Other files (.html, .css., .jpg, etc.) work fine. If a message is submitted that has a string longer than 72 characters without any whitespace characters, AND the 71st character is a period, the period is being removed by the smtp gateway. I am assuming it has to do with the algorithm for truncating long lines in accordance with the ietf smtp standards. I have forced a mail gateway failure by sending to a invalid account to be able to look at the mail in the badmail directory at the file and can verify this.     - 4Gb Memory Limit Dear readers, Hopefully you can help us with below stated problem. At the moment we are running a Windows 2003 Enterprise server that is functioning as a Webserver. Lately we receive numerous complaints about "Server to busy" error messages. After a diagnose we found out that the 2Gb memory we have installed in the server is insufficient. The first thing we want to do is add more memory and here is the problem we are facing. Will IIS make use of more than 4Gb of RAM? We read about the 4Gb memory limit Win2003 has for each application, but does this also count for each W3WP process? Or do all W3WP share the same 4Gb? If I'm correct each application pool has it's own W3WP process? Or is it sufficient to add the /PAE switch in the Boot.ini and we don't have to worry about this 4Gb Memory Limit for IIS?     - Problem with deploying ASP.Net Web Application to IIS I've been working for a while on a custom WebDav server in ASP.Net. Its purpose is to publish resources from locations different than usual physical filesfolders. Example of such a server is SharePoint if Im not wrong. You can map a network drive to a web page (i.e. httpserverpage ) and browse and modify the contents of some database from IE directly on the server, which is very convinient. The implementation is based on IHttpModule - the requests made to the server are handled that way. I've been developing and testing it from within Visual Studio 2005. A few weeks ago I tried to deploy the server to IIS, and I faced a problem I cant solve for about a week. When I mount a server hosted by ASP.Net Development server 8.0.0.0, everything works fine - I can browse and modify the contents from IE as well as from other WebDav Clients (for example DavExplorer). When I mount a server deployed to IIS, the mount process seems to succeed, but Im getting an error while trying to see the contents of the Network Drive. At the same time DavExplorer (WebDav Client) works fine with IIS server and lists the contetns and allows you to modify them. Here is a screenshot of how do My Network Places look like. From it you can see the difference between a ASP.Net Dev Server (Drive on localhost) and IIS (Drive on IIS server) hosting of my custom WebDav server. Also what's important - is that the properties of the ASP.Net dev Server folder refer to httplocalhost1515Drive when the properties of IIS folder refer to 13.14.15.16Drive (IP address changed). So in case of IIS hosting IE thinks that the target is a usual network folder and do not use webDav protocol to communicate with the server. A main index file (also XML) hyperlinks to all of the individual XML files after the transformation to give a structure thus: index.xml => file1.xml => file2.xml => file3.xml Each linked-to file also has hyperlink to 'go back' to the original index file for ease of use of the system. I've heard that there is a scaled down version of IIS called PWS that is included on the Windows 98 disk and that it supports ASP. What I need to ask is: 1. Is there somwhere I can find information about how to connect the Perl interpreter to the ASP engine of PWS, so I can run my Perl code embedded in ASP pages? 2.     - IIS6.0 Web Service on Windows 2003. Hi I have a virtual pc setup to run windows 2003. I have deployed a web service in a folder c:\Sites\WebService\WS1 I tried to run the asmx file from the browser, it gives a file not found error. On viewing the source code of that page, I could find that it throws a DirectoryNotFoundException at "c:\inetpub\wwwroot\WS1\WS1.asmx" This is wierd as i had specified the virtual directory's path as c:\sites\WebService\WS1. Do note that I have enabled ASP.NET 1.4.1 webservice extensions enabled in my box. Also I have got requierd permissions i all the necessary folders. We have an application configuration mapping in IIS that maps the .cfm extension to the .Net ISAPI: c:\windows\microsoft.net\framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_isapi.dll We have a httphandler set up in the web.config file thus: <httpHandlers> <add verb="*" path="*.cfm" type="System.Web.UI.PageHandlerFactory" /> </httpHandlers> Under .Net1.1 this worked allowing the .Net script within the .cfm file to be executed. Under.Net2.0, the file is found, but nothing other than a http 200 status is returned. The debug trace registers the fact that IIS found the .cfm file, but the "Trace Information", "Control Tree", "Session State" and "Application state" sections are all empty. This same ASP page and the custom DLL exist on a number of Windows 2003/IIS 6 machines, and the DLL works fine. I even have IIS on my XP laptop and it works fine. What's more, until recently, the DLL worked without problems on the servers on which it now fails. The DLL itself has not been modified in at least a year, and all the boxes in question have had all Microsoft patches applied. I have unregistered/re-registered the DLL, and I have deleted/recreated the COM+ object, all without affecting the error.     - Companyweb 2 errors. 1) When I load the companyweb url as just http://companyweb i get a window popup with File Download - Security Warning asking me to download the companyweb. Is there anyway possible to stop that from asking us to download the companyweb. I also get it for any default we have setup. 2) When I try go add new announcement the page loads and I add all the information i want to put in then I go save and close and I get the following error HTTP Error 405 - The HTTP verb used to access this page is not allowed .     - IIS6 Cut through web folders Hi, I have an IIS6 site on a web server that is accessed via WebFolders on users PC's. They need to be able to cut, copy, paste, delete, modify etc......basically all file operations. On testing it would seem that the users can perform all of these functions except a "Cut" (they can copy the file locally, then manually delete it from the web folder). Permissions all seem fine (I have granted full NTFS permissions on the file/directory and full perms through IIS for testintg). Looking at the IIS logs I see a "GET" request for the file(s), but I am not sure what type of request should be coming through afterwards to then remove the file.....     - enabling gzip compression in IIS - request body Hi, I found directions for enabling gzip support in IIS via the metabase. Its working great for HTTP response content. I would like to enable gzip compression for the request (POST) content, but the server doesn't appear to support it. I keep getting 500 errors.     - Memory Leak All, I have a Windows 2003 server running IIS in isolation mode. The dllhost.exe for the out of process is leaking memory. I have to do an IISRESET about every three days when the memory usage reaches about 1 gig. Our web site runs mostly ASP code written by us in VB. We do have two third party applications as well on the server. I have run a memory dump from IIS Debug. However I can not figure out from the dump file what is leaking memory.     - Authdiag returns invalid URL I am using AuthDiag version 1.0.43. My problem is that the only URL that it diagnoses successfully is http://localhost. All others, 127.0.0.1, dns name, IP address (192.168.0.10) return invalid URL. I believe DHCP and DNS are configured properly. I can use nslookup on all servers in my test domain.     - 403 Forbidden Our VB program downloads an XML file from a URL on our website to our client's machine using HTTP control. When it does that, it got the following error: "403 Forbidden - The ISA Server denies the specified Uniform Resource Locator (URL). The WWW service has a dependency to a service called Windows Process Activation Service (WAS) - part of me wishes it WASn't. If it makes any difference, my build was an upgrade from XP SP2. (sorry, it's a bit long) My server is running Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition SP1 (IIS 6), in a Windows 2003 Active Directory domain. My Default IIS web site is left unchanged (port 80). I've configured a new IIS Web site on port 80 with an associated DNS alias (myapp.mydomain.com). There is a Tomcat 5.5 instance linked to this web site using isapi_redirect.dll Everything is working fine when acessing the web site and the java application using the alias (http://myapp.mydomain.com) To allow my users to have access to the application using the sort non-FQDN alias (http://myapp), I've added the short DNS name to the web site. The FQDN URL is still working, but the short URL "http://myapp" does not. IIS is giving the following error : ---- HTTP/1.1 400 no Host matches server name myapp connection : close Date : Wed,18 oct 2006 15:26:07 GMT Server: Microsoft-IIS/6.0 Connection to host lost. ------------ I've configured another web site on port 80 with another DNS alias (both FQDN and short aliases) and everything is working fine. Everything works fine on my staging server (same configuration as the production box). The same configuration was working fine on my previous production server (running Windows 2003 SP0). To solve my issue, I temporarily configured 2 different web sites : the one described above with only the FQDN alias, and another one with only the short alias, with a automatic redirection to the FQDN URL) For the users' point of view, it's OK.     - FTP I'm just started hosting a few peoples sites on my server. Everythings going great except for one issue, I'm having a problem with FTP. I have opened up the FTP port on my router to point to the server but for some reason I'm unable to connect to it. I know it's not the server, because for testing purposes I opened up everything to the server and I was able to FTP. Now by my understanding FTP opens up a random port between a wide range. I was hoping to narrow that down to a few, so I could in return open that up in my router. Is there any easy way to do this?     - ODBC Logging - Blank password I recently installed ODBC logging and I notice a lot of blank fields in the username. The username is captured randomly throughout a visit but I'm not sure why the others are left blank, even when viewing a certain directory. For instance, when viewing the contents of a certain sub-directory (.gif, htm. or .asp files), usernames are captured for only a few of the files while most others are blank.     - Keep getting password prompts Hello, I have installed IIS 6 on my server I have it set to use port 81 as I have other software running on port 80. Upon visiting page on the site, I get a password prompt to login to each page. I enter the administrator username and password. If I click the cancel button, I get the following. HTTP Error 401.1 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to invalid credentials. Internet Information Services (IIS) I want to have user able to visit the site I have set up wihtout any password entry. What do I have to set? I have gone to the IIS Admin panel and right clicked on my site name to open the property box. Under the directory security tab. I have enabled anonymous access with user account IUSR_XXX with no password and checked the box for integrated windows authentication.     - batch-adding multiple websites Hi, I would like to add a batch of 80+ website identities in IIS6. I normally add a website manually in the IIS Manager, but for such a large volume of domains I really need an easier way. Is there a script I can run or an import procedure in IIS somewhere? I have made my first ISAPI.dll, but whenevr I try to load it in a
browser I get an error -2147467259 (0x80004005). I am not passing any
parameters to it, If you can please guide me in the right direction.
Any help will be appreciated.
