Hello,

I am running a windows 2003 server which was upgraded from 2000.

When I look at my default web site, I see a tab which says Server Extensions
(none of which are set up). I am assuming that this is an older version of
Front Page extensions. How can I make sure that all old versions of
Frontpage Server Extensions are completely removed from the system?

When I look in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server
Extensions folder, I see folders for:

\40
\50
\60

Which I assume are all older versions.

Thanks!

Jim

Hi James,

By default in a new installation of IIS6, all the Frontpage 2002 Server
Extension files IIS6 used are all located in the directory
"<SystemDir>\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server
extensions\50". The Frontpage Server Extension of IIS5 should be located in
\40 by default.

So far as I know on this issue, the Server Extension tab will appear in the
web site property by default even if you haven't installed the Frontpage
server extension. This tab doesn't mean that your server extension is
enabled. I'd suggest you check the web service extension in the IIS MMC. Is
there "Frontpage Server Extension 2002" item in the snap-in? If the item
exists in the snap-in, you can prohibit it which will disable the frontpage
extension.

It appears that the issue is all about the files of Frontpage Server
Extension but not the IIS. To better serve you, the Frontpage Server
extension support team has created a newsgroup for you. I think these
Server Extension experts will help you more on this issue. Please go to:
Microsoft.Public.Frontpage.Extensions.windowsnt

Does this answer your question? Thank you for using Microsoft NewsGroup!
