My wife bought me a copy of VB .NET standard edition for
Christmas and I would like to create ASP .NET web
applications but I do not have IIS on my XP Home Edition
computer?

When I try to create a new project, I get a message
basically saying my Webserver is not up and running, so
if there is another webserver I can use let me know.

thanks

Hello Michael,
Windows XP Home will support the installation of the Visual Studio .NET
products; however the IIS is not included (it is in Windows XP
Professional). Therefore web
development against a local IIS will not be possible.

You can search the internet for web servers supported on Windows XP home or
upgrade to Win XP Pro and install IIS5.1.

Hi,

Looks like that article is a bit off. You can't install IIS on XP Home
