    - IIS 6.0 experts - performance help We have a Windows 2003 server running the IIS 6. It runs 4 Internal websites and one of them is a logon page that authenticates our usernames to our AD server. Sometimes this logon page takes a minute to log in sometimes 2 seconds. I find if I restart this one out of the 4 websites the hole thing speeds up. What settings in the website can I focus on or what perfomance counters can I run to find out what's happening?     - Adding ServerBindings I have a number of sites that all have an Admin hostname (subdomain) and all point to the same directory; once they get there, the rest of the domain name tells me who they are, etc. I would like to simply add each new site to the existing serverbindings for a collective AdministrativeScripts "web site". I cannot figure out how to read the current serverbindings and then use that value to append the new site and re-write the server bindings. My amateur attempts so far have only yielded: var xyz = c:\inetpub\adminscripts\adsutil.vbs get w3svc\%siteidhere#\serverbindings Is this possible?     - anonymous logins and virtual hosts for ftp Hi I am looking to host several sites on 1 ip. The ftp is all working correctly for each site when the correct user name and password are entered. What i would like to do is enable anonymous access to a directory for each site. I know this can be done as several frontend hosting packages offer this for win2003.e.g. Plesk, helm.     - Login dialog comes up when accessing web site Hello, I've got a aspnet web app which has its own login screen. I recently moved it to a new server 2003 box. Now, when I try to access the web app, I get a windows logon dialog first. If I use my machine userid/password in this dialog it goes into the web app fine. I've got anonymous access turned on with the ASPNET, IUSR_machinename, IWAM_machinename accounts with access to the web site folder(s). They all have modify/read (not Full). I've got Anonymous Access using Integrated Windows Authentication turned on. The anonymous userid is IUSR_machinename. Does anyone know why the login dialog is coming up?     - IISState Log Hi folks, Server is 2000 running .NET Framework 1.1 with about 100 websites, 25-50 of them .NET Applications. People are complaining of dropped sessions when the aspnet_wp.exe process restarts itself around 600mb of memory. Which is what I have it set to in the machine.config. One site always gets System.OutofMemory errors when the process gets around 500mb. I ran iisstate.ex -p XXXX -d -sc and got the following output VERY quickly. The process restarted but I'm not sure if it actually caught the out of memory error mentioned previously. Anyone notice anything in this log? Thanks!!     - IIS 6 stops responding about once a day I have a new server running Windows 2003 Server and IIS 6. There are two active websites on the server. With the frequency of approximately once every 20 or so hours the sites become inaccessible. The are no errors in the Windows event log or in the IIS log files. But if I visit one of the sites directly on the server itself it will come up fine and from that point on the sites are accessible again. I don't have to restart IIS or anything else.     - [IIS 5.1] Wildcard Mapping Woes Hi all, I'm trying to have aspnet_isapi.dll handle all requests for a virtual directory. I have set up my web.config file and created the wildcard mapping in IIS. However, all requests result in an IIS error of 404-- even pages that exist. Nothing appears to be reaching the aspnet_isapi.dll. If I remove the wildcard mapping, things start working again for existing pages. I'm running Windows XP SP2 and IIS 5.1. Hi there, For some reason our IIS server has just stopped processing include files for a single virtual site (the rest are fine) - we've been uploading/downloading a fair amount to alter this individual site today, but all of a sudden the ASP includes are not being processed and instead when looking at the end result in the browser, we can actually see the ASP include statement (that of course should be hidden).     - Some programs slow to respond I am running Windows XP Professional and installed IIS. When I try to browse to http://localhost I have to do that several times before the home page is delivered to the browser. The first several times I get a can't find page type message; then that changes to a waiting for a waiting for localhost message then eventually after several refreshes the localhost homepage appears. It is almost like IIS takes awhile to wake up. I am pretty sure that is is active withis a reasonable time after starting the system. Related to this is that the IIS manager doesn't do anything (won't launch or doesn't see a web server) until after IIS seems to be running.     - IIS App Pools Recyling too Fast. Hi, I am hosting hundreds of websites on a webserver using a combination of sql and asp. SQL is on a different server. The web server is running win 2003 iis 6 with a single processor and 1 GB Ram. All websites are in 1 app pool. I find that i get out of memory errors or no new sessions are created when the virtual bytes for an App pool starts to breach over 1500mb. So i recycle the App pool at a limit of 1500mb. This leads to the app pool recycling 1-2 times a day. Typically i see the memory with values of :Private Bytes (293mb) and virtual bytes (1438mb). I don't know whether this is a leak somewhere in ASP or normal with IIS but the virtual bytes only seems to increase over time and not stablise or go down as i would expect when users visit and leave a website. I have a script that i use to let uses download files from the server. It uses the response.binarywrite method. If i download a large files (i.e. over 100mb) then i see a big jump in the virtual bytes that IIS allocates in the w3wp.exe process. This does not appear to go down after the file has been downloaded although Private Bytes goes up and then down initially. I was thinking that this may be a cause of the problem?! ...or maybe it is typical for these types of large scale ASP applications? Would increasing the main memory RAM to 2GB help in this situation. The main Physical Memory still reports about 300mb free when i get the memory problems? Would it help to split the websites into a couple of different App Pools, then increase the page file size to something larger and hence each App pool gets to use a separate 2GB memory space? Would i benefit from moving to Windows 64bit edition and installing more Ram and having a large Page file to cope with the large Virtual Bytes? Currently, I have II6 compression set up to always compress dynamically generated pages.     - Double Authentication We are currently running IIS 6 with .Net 2.0. Ever since we have deployed to our Test server, we are getting prompted twice for authentication. It does not happen when working on ASP.NET Development Server (visual studio embedded .net dev server) on my desktop. Does anyone know why this is happening? I am basically trying to capture the username and the url from the request but it appears that even with my custom filter higher in the ISAPI list stsfltr is called first. Technical: In order to get Exchange and Sharepoint to work together, I had to reset the NTAuthenticationProviders back to "Negotiate,NTLM" on the FE Server, every application on IIS seems to create its own pool, and everything looks correct, well nothing has changed.     - IIS anonymous authentication not working I have a clean installation of windows 2003 SBE and SQLServer2000, it has all hotfixes installed. I want to publish two web sites that are completely anonymous (www). Both sites are correctly configured for two different domains using virtualhosts and both work correctly for a certain period. The problem I have is that after a certain time (a few hours), IIS 6.0 anonymous authentication stops working and starts asking me for a username & password. It might be related to a metabase synchronization failure. If I reset the IIS process it works again, but only to expire again in less than a day. IIS sends me this error: HTTP Error 401.1 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to invalid credentials whenever I try to access any page. I manually synchonized the IUSR_ user password once and it works as I said, for a few hours. I don't need to change the password to make it work again, but reseting IIS 3 times a day is something I refuse to do :( The IUSR has permissions in the file system, so that is not the problem. I have only one virtual web with 3 virtual directory named x1.it x2.org
test.com.
In x1.it and x2.org the asp pages will work but in the 3rd virtual
directory (named test.com) IIS don't proces the asp pages and the output is
the asp source.
Can you help me?

For starters, you can't name a directory with ".com". Try it with a
different name.

Hi Tom,
thanks for your response but on another server the virtual directory
test.com process the asp pages.......
