Hi,

I am wondering if anybody can tell me what is (from the user point of
view as well as from technical point of view) the difference between a
web site and a virtual directory.
I know that you cannot assign an DNS record to a virtual directory name
so the user can go to directly to the url.

Also I am wondering if I anybody can recomend a web site that presents
basics about IIS.

Thanks,

Carly

Virtual directory resides under a website..... and only website has the URL
name that associated with your DNS.
You can have multiple websites, and configure IIS to have directly point it
to the desire path as the root folder.

For basic IIS detail, refer the IIS help file that comes with your IIS
installation.
You can also visit - iis-resources.com, iisfaq.com, microsoft.com/iis/
