IIS console doesn't comeup ...IIS isn't working please help

Hii

I have successfully installed IIS 5.0 on my win2k professional machine but
it does work ....why ?

I have removed and re-installed IIS 2 times but the problem is still there..

If I add IIS to the MMC, it adds it but when I click on the "plus" sign the
machine hangs or sometimes I have to end that MMC task through the Task
manager.

If I go to controlpanel > Administrative Tools > IIS still nothing comes up
on the screen ..please help

what do I do .....I use to have problems b4 but I always use to re-install
IIS but this time its not solving the problem and I dont want to format my
machine..
I am definite that there is a way to solve out this prob.

please if you could tell me the all the services I should re-start , that
might be helpful to bring IIS 5.0 Up..

I bet you have a virus checker?

hii

see the problem is not with any virus checker cos I dont have any virus
checker installed on my machine

The only intruder detection thing I have is Norton Person Firewall &
Spybot..

if these do create problems with IIS please let me know.
see alwyas if there are problems with IIS if you remove and reinstall if ,
mostly all the problems are solved..but heere in my machine the IIS itself
is not working i.e. the window does show up.
so what to do know.

Disable them first before you install IIS. The only known problems with
installing IIS from the box (!!) are from 3th party programs especially
SCRIPT blockers in norton.

I have removed spybot and Disable Norton and Switched off Script Blocking

but Still the problem is still there

see I dont wanna format my machine..so please help meout.>!

Uninstall IIS; install sp4 and run windowsupdate. Stop and disable all nortons services, especially the firewall. Install IIS. See if the services are running.

I have the same problem with Norton Internet Security 2003. I have sp4 and ran windowsupdate. The problem persist. PWS just hangs and can only be killed from task manager. I have even tried booting in Safe Mode with Networking and still can run Personal Web Manager
