I am trying to export a certificate from one iis 5.0 server to another, I
have followed the instructions on the following articles:

Backup:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;232136

Restore:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;232137

1. The backup procedure prodoces a file type .pfx
2. The restore procedure asks you to look for a .key file
3. I have tried the restore procedure with the .pfx file that is produced
and it errors with: Cannot import keyring backup file, either you entered
the wrong password or the certificate has expired.

Well I entered the right password and the cert hasn't expired. Does anyone
have experience of doing this and can they help?

Many thanks.

Make sure that the permissions on the MachineKeys folder is correct.

Default Permissions For the MachineKeys Folders
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q278/3/81.asp

If that doesn't work, go to the Security tab on the properties of the
MachineKeys folder and check "Allow inheritable permissions from parent to
propagate to this object". Choose OK, restart the IIS services, then try
importing the certificate again.

Hope this helps

Thank you,
