    - 403.1 and EXE errors Prior to installing the latest patches I could put a .EXE in my web directory and then launch that .EXE from a webpage. Now all I get is a 403.1 unauthorized challenge to my NT permissions. I put them in but they do not work and I am the admin on the box. Any ideas how to get around this?     - Caching of some sort??? Just recently we have encountered a weird problem with our webserver...running IIS 5 and W2000 SP4 When testing an ASP page, if you get an error of some sort in your browser, when you go into the code and fix the problem, save the changes, when you refresh the page, the error stays there, even though the code is correct. The problem is not fixed until you rename the page, and the open it in your browser to work fine??     - Site restarts? My web site is hosted on a 2k server (sp3), connecting through a dynamic DSL line. No-IP.com software updates the master DNS every 30 minutes. Every couple days, I have to go into the computer management snap-in, stop and restart the web site (not IIS), so people can see the site. Any reason why this would be? I haven't seen anything in the error logs about it, as IIS is running. The only change from default is to move the site files to a different partition for backup reasons. Any suggestions? I did a quick search on the MSKB and in this forum, and came up blank on this particular problem. TIA, and have a great Thanksgiving!     - CGI caching! Hello! We have a CGI-script that will recieve a file about 200MB many times every day. It looks like IIS will recieve the whole file before the CGI-script gets the data. Is it possible to configure IIS to start the CGI-script whitout caching the input, ie redirect the input directly to the script without caching.     - Default MIME Type IIS 5.0 I'm trying to change the MIME type for a specific web from application/octet-stream to image/gif for files with NO extension. The "File Types" dialog seems to require an extension (i've tried entering * but it's replaced with .*) so I presume I need to change the default MIME type somewhere... ?     - Virtual Folder Problems I am having a problem with a virtual directory which resides on a server under a different domain. I have set up the virtual directory so that IIS does not control the password for anon access. The folder contains jpgs and when the site is viewed locally these can be seen, but when viewed externally from the network the jps cannot be seen.     - ADSI problem on Windows 2000 Server Since re-installing IIS5 in October we have been unable to interface with IIS5 using a Web Host Automation tool (Helm). Apparently the problem lies with the ADSI interface. Is it possible to re-install ADSI into Win2000 or obtain the components and install them separately?     - IIS Snap-in 6.0 for Windows XP pro I'm trying to locate IIS 6.0 Snap-in for Windows XP Professional so I remotly can administrate our IIS 6.0 but I can't find it. The KB-article below states that it is not currently available and recommends using Remote Desktop to a Win2003 server.     - Span IIS to multiple volumes? Hello, I have recieved a new server which will be used as both an IIS server and a Windows Media server. In an effort to maximize the total volume size, and due to budgeting issues out of my control, I could not set the server up with RAID5 as I wanted to, taking the 5 physical drives and making them into a SYS volume and storage volume. (RAID5 does this, but also takes something like 20% of the total drive capacity to do so... we need every GB to be available for file storage.) My question is how to attach the 5 drives to my IIS server. I have already attached the 5 drives to my Media server, however I need to be able to link the media files via my IIS. An example of my setup as of current: C: = Windows 2003 server system files D: = CD Rom E: = IIS Home directory, and publish point for WMS F: = Publish point for WMS G: = Publish point for WMS H: = Publish point for WMS I: = Publish point for WMS Any ideas?     - Adding multiple host headers through ADSI not working properly I was wondering if someone could help. I have a scenario where I am trying to set up multiple host headers on a web site using ADSI. Ex: I have a site called www.testsite.com to which I want to assign three host headers like (testsite.com, 123.testsite.com, and testsite). My script creates the site and sets several properties just fine. However, when I check the host headers, there is only one entry with all the three host headers I specified as a concatenated string and delimited with a comma. I would appreciate any help.     - IIS 6.0 Problem on Win Server 2K3 Greetings, I am having a very weird problem. Some how IIS 6.0 running on Win Server 2K3 standard thinks that the default anonymous user doesnt have access to the index.htm in the site directory. I checked the permissions on all dirs from the c:\ down to the file itself and they all say the user can read, i even tried with full permissions. Now this is the interesting part, when i changed the default user to the domain admin, it worked, which i can believe since the domain admin can do everything. Now i tried changing it to a domain account that doesnt have as much power, and its not authorized to view the page. Is there a hidden permission im not looking at or just what is happening?     - Difference between IIS professional/server I just have a real basic question. I have been developing asp applications on a windows 2000 professional computer with IIS 5.0. I would like to transition my applications to windows 2000 server. What is the difference between IIS 5.0 on windows 2000 professional and windows 2000 server. I know that professional has a limitation of 10 hits at a time. Does server have this same limitation also? If so, what do I need to do to allow IIS to handle more hits?     - Redirect Exchange 2003 OWA on Port 80 to Port 443 I've been struggling with redirecting sessions that connect on port 80 to our Outlook Web Access (Windows Server 2003 & Exchange 2003) to HTTPS on Port 443.     - Requests Queued stays high I am running a database intensive asp site on a new installation of Windows 2003 I am also running performance monitor on the site to watch the requests queued value. It seems like this value likes to stay around 200, making the pages slow for the user. I am looking to find out how i can service more requests because cpu utilzation is realtively low (around 15%). I have done some looking around and found that if i up the value of AspProcessorThreadMax, this should help aleviate this problem, but i have upped it quite significantly (to 150) and it doesn't seem to be changing the performance. Am i missing any other settings? What are the max settings for this value? Maybe i am puttng the reg key in the wrog spot?     - iis6 compatability with classic asp I have recently migrated some classic asp web sites from iis5 to iis6 and seem to be experiencing some memory problems, in particular sql server (which is running on the same machine) seems to be using exessive amounts of memory which eventually causes the box to fall over despite a more powerful machine and the same traffic levels. It was suggested to me to create an .HTA page instead of .asp or .html to make them run. When code changes are deployed for a web service, the change does not take effect. It seems that the cache does not refresh. To get around this we were able to create a new directory and copy the new code files to that directory then change the IIS virtual directory to point to the new directory and "force" a refresh. Restarting IIS will work also. This is a successful work-around, but we would like to deploy remotely without having to log on to the cluster to change IIS configuration. Has anyone seen this issue?     - IIS 6.0 Search Problems I migrated an nt4, IIS4 server to a 2003, IIS6 box. The search "engine" has been broken ever since. I am unable to get anything other than the contents of the query.idq page. I use the nt4 search sample pages basically, adjusted for my server. I'm using search.html that takes the user input and feeds it to query.idq for the search and the results come back formatted from query.htx. This all worked flawlessly for years on the nt4 box, it ran itself, never had any problems. I know I have index server setup correctly. I have one catalog that points to the root of the web, the catalog itself is 177MB now. I would tune all of this between index server and the query.idq page, but I can't get a basic setup to work. If I submit a query through index serve's query form, it works no problem and returns more than enough, too many because the scope is so broad now. Everything else about this site is fine and healthy. It's the only site that needs search so I don't use it on other sites on this box. However, the search is just as broken on the development 2003 IIS6 box that mirrors this one. The other sites on this box are fine, although they don't use the search/index server stuff. IIS seems fine, no hitches or anything. I know other people have had this same problem, seemingly with no luck in finding a fix.     - WebDAV security on IIS problems Hey All, I have been beating my head over this one for a long time. It has to do with setting up a WebDAV folder in IIS and setting permissions on that folder to two accounts - one with read access and the other with full. From all the documentation, this should be a simple task. WebDAV is supported by default on all IIS folders and virtual folders. Here is an article from Microsoft describing how easy it should be done: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;323470&Product=iis50 The article is pretty straight forward and I have followed it to the letter. I can get WebDAV to work, the problem lies in setting the security on the folder to restrict or allow access. Here is what I have tried and I am hoping there is someone out ther who has worked with this before. Here is the configuration: I have one Windows 2000 (SP4 and all latest patches) member server behind a firewall with IIS 5 installed. Let's call this server WEB1. I have a web site in IIS (with its own IP) whose directory contents are on a share on another computer in the same domain behind the same firewall. The server that hosts the source files for the web site (not running IIS) is a Windows 200 (SP4 and all latest patches) domain controller. Let's call this server FILE1. The current web site has been established for many years and has been working without a hitch the whole time. The client is interested in being able to upload files to a folder within the website (let's call the folder "webdav-upload"). They would like to have two separate accounts to access the contents of this folder. One account has Read Only access to that folder and the other has Full Access to that folder. I can get WebDAV access to that folder, the problem is that I cannot get authentication to work as I would like. Here is how I proceeded to setup this configuration: 1.) Within the website on WEB1, I created a Virtual Directory called "Webdav-Upload". This Virtual Directory point to a a share on FILE1. The Connect as box in the Virtual Directory's properties is using the IUSER_SHARE account (we have specified the password for this account and do not let the server manage the password although this should have no bearing on this). 2.) The Virtual Directory connects just fine with no Red X. I have enabled Directory Browsing, Read, Write and Excute permissions on the folder. 3.) I disabled annonymous access to the folder and then enabled Basic Authentication and specified the default logon domain. 4.) I then created 2 user accounts in the Domain called "WedDav-Read" and WebDav-Full". 5.) Gave both accounts the Log On Locally right to the Domain Controllers OU Group Policy and ran the SECEDIT refresh. 6.) On FILE1, the share that the Virtual Directory connects to has full control for the Everyone Group. 7.) On the folder underneath that share (one folder deep), I have set the NTFS permissions as follows: I disabled inheritance of permission and removed all inherited permissions. I then assigened the following permissions: Domain Admins Full Control WebDav-Full Full Control WebDav-Read Read, List Folder Contents, Read & Execute IUSR_SHARE Read 8.) I then reset these permissions on all child objects. 9.) Then from a remote location outside on the Internet, I used the My Network Places to create a new network place. I put in the full URL: http://FQDN/webdav-upload 10.) It then prompted me for permissions and kept prompting me and would fail. I could never connect. I tried the following change to the above configuration to try and get it working. 1.) I enabled Annonymous access on the virtual directory and removed basic authentication to have the NTFS permissions provide the security. - This would allow me to connect but gave me the permissions of the IUSER_SHARE as that was the account in the Connect As box in the Virtual Directory's properties. How else can I get this working? Has anyone successfully gotten this configuration to work? There is little to no troubleshooting documentation for Microsoft's IIS and WebDAV. Please help! Thanks!
