If you set up a FTP site under IIS and enter a welcome message, that message
will be displayed if browsing to the FTP site using IE with Windows 2000 but
not with Windows XP Pro. Why is this? Can I somehow display the welcome
message with IE/XP?

Hello,

As far as i know this is a limitation in Internet Explorer, and its
functionality as FTP client. IIS seems to be working fine.

I can recommend you to send this question to the Internet Explorer
newsgroup, but the answer will probably be that this is "by design".

Good Luck!

Yes, the welcome message is displayed in both IE 2000 and when using the
built-in FTP client (ftp.exe) so the problem is not with IIS I guess.

With IE6SP1+IIS5, enabling folder view in IE will allow you to see the
welcome msgs.
however, this will not work with IIS6+IIS6SP1, so I assumed XP will exhibit
similar behavior.
