I have run my IIS using a dial up modem in the past. Everything was
OK other than the fact that I had to post my IP whenever it changed.
I have recently acquired Verizon DSL and would again like to run my
IIS from my home. Can anybody tell me if Venison allows this feature.
I also have a Linksys router that I think I have configured properly.
I have it set to port 80. Any suggestions as to why my IP address is
not starting my service.

I should add that, All the computers on my LAN work OK using the IP
address. It's only when I get off of the LAN that I have problems.
All computers are connected through the same roughter.

Most broadband ISP's block port 80. Try a different port.

Well, Verizon could.

Try telling us what "not starting my service" means. I suspect it may
be as simple as Verizon blocking port 80, but you could have a port
conflict error, or any number of other problems. Give us exact error
messages when you reply.

Ports are relatively arbitrary. Try 90, 8080, 8000, 81, whatever (just not
one used by another service). Because those are common alternatives, they
might be blocked too.

And keep in mind the URL must reflect the same port, as in:

http://www.myserver.com:8080/

Thank you VERY much. That did it. Worked like a charm. and my
router is holding the IP address quit nicely.
