Hi,
I have an IIS Server running on NT 4.0 (BDC) in a mixed
2000 Server environment. The 2000 Domain Controller and
secondary are already in place. I would like to upgrade
the NT 4.0 (BDC) to Windows 2000 and the IIS to a later
version. IIS is running ASP and SSL.
I'm looking for any experiences you may have had with
this, potential problems, the order in which to proceed,
etc...
Also, any links to information or procedures is
appreciated.

thanks much,

Robert

My rule of thumb is: Don't install IIS on a domain
controller.

When you upgrade the server to Windows 2000, are you also
going to have it as a domain controller or a stand alone
box...?

Do an in-place upgrade and IIS should upgrade as well. Make sure you
have a backup of course.

Unfortunately Doug I inherited this network and wouldn't
have done it that way either.
When I upgrade to Windows 2000, I believe I can run
DCPromo to demote it to a member server.
What's your thoughts on this?

Thank you Jeff, that sounds reasonable. Probably more-so
than the Exchange 5.5 and SQL Server that I am going to
be upgrading.
Thanks,
Robert

An in-place upgrade should work fine with Exchange 5.5 and SQL as
well, though you may wat to check in a Server, Exchange or SQL group
for the various portions.

No matter what you upgrade, there are always likely to be changes
you'll need to work through.
