I am Ritesh Mehta. I had registered for a free 180 trial of windows server R2
2003 with SP2.I was given 2 image files(I had to download) to setup
the OS on my machine. After setting windows server I tried to install IIS by
going to Control Panel-->Add/Remove Prog--->Add/Remove Windows Components
and selecting Application server. But it does not allow me to install. It
gives a prompt to insert the disk labelled
"Service Pack 2 CD-ROM". It says some files in this CD are needed. The
problem is that the two disks that I burnt were images which were converted
to .ISO's
to make it bootable and hence it is unable to find those files. I dont know
what do I do.It should not be giving this prompt as the two images had the
SP2.Any help
would be greatly appreciated as I need to install IIS o my machine.

1) Please download Windows Server SP2 from the Microsoft website:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=95ac1610-c232-4644-b828-c55eec605d55&DisplayLang=en
(there is a link to 64bit edition down the bottom if requied)

2) Run the .exe with the /x switch to extract the contents of the Service
Pack to your hard disk.

3) When the Add/Remove programs installer asks you for SP2 files, point the
installer to the extracted SP2 contents from step 2

Cheers
Ken

Hi there,

I've been experiencing the same problems as described below. I've
extracted the SP2 executable to local disk, and it creates an [amd64]
folder. The problem is that the Add Component Wizard is now asking for
a file "wiismap.dll" from an [i386] folder... The extracted directory
hierarchy doesn't contain an i386 folder, nor does it contain the
wiismap file.
My next move, as I see it, is to extract the x86 Service Pack 2 side
by side with the x64 one (as this probably has an i386 foler), but
this seems very ropey. Does anyone know if there's a better/official
way to do this?

Regards,
Fergus

Well I went ahead with it.
In case anyone is interested, I pointed the install wizard back at the
C:\i386 folder on the local drive. The wizard, still wasn't happy
however and also wanted files from the original Windows 2003 Server
install CD. Once it was fed those, it finished up without error -
whether it works or not now is another matter...
