        • bandwidth checker - revisted - realtime file access app? I downloaded the suggest app. It works great. Only 24.95. Now, my next question is. Is there an app that can alert me when IIS 5.1 is being accessed, either by ftp or by means of serving pages? And also tell me, real time, what is being accessed? That would be great! • Redirect in IIS 6.0 (newbie question) I have an app that uses tomcat on IIS. The home page is accessed at http://servername/appname. On the old Windows 2000 server, default web site properties, home directory tab, I set it to "A reditection to a URL." I entered /appname for the URL and clicked "a directory below URL entered." Users browsing to http://servername are redirected to http://servername/appname exactly as I would expect. On a new Windows 2003 server with the same app installed, I created the exact same configuration in IIS. However, browsing to that servername does not redirect to the app's homepage, but instead results in a 404 error from tomcat (not IIS). The app is exactly the same, so I don't see how it can be that. The only difference I can see between the servers is that one is Win2000 (IIS 5), the other Win2003 (IIS 6). The 2000 server is a DC and runs DNS. And, the new server has the same netbios name as the app name. I'm an IIS novice and completely new to IIS 6. Does anyone have an idea what I'm missing? Tag: Trojans Tag: 315475

        • Error HTTP 403.4 when SSL is not defined Hi, On a Windows 2000 server SP4, we do not have SSL running (no certificate) and no directory is configured to use SSL. When we do a request like http:\\server\pagex.htm we received the error 403.4. (SSL required) When we do a request like "https:\\server\pagex.htm", we received the error "The page connot be displayed -Cannot find server or DNS Error Internet Explorer" There is some thing strange in the metabase? The metabase field "AccessSSLFlags" is not set. Thanks Rene Tag: Trojans Tag: 315473

        • Service Unavailable We are migrating from win 2000 to win 2003. I'm in the process of moving the website over and am getting "Service Unavailable" when I try to get to the local machine (to test the website) when I plug in the IP address in Internet explorer. Something hasn't been set properly yet. I'm getting this message in the logs: 2003-12-05 21:03:29 192.168.0.6 1152 192.168.0.6 80 HTTP/1.1 GET / 503 1 Disabled I'm sure its a quick fix....what am I missing? Tag: Trojans Tag: 315472

        • Need help with IIS on NT server The Web server is windows NT 4.0 running IIS for our web application that resides on a UNIX server. The web server is stand alone member server. Users login via URL address on NT Server which then starts our applications routines and menus via Internet Explorer. The new users are supposed to change their passwords at login. They get the box from NT server asking them to change their passwords. When they change their password they get blank box with ! and session hangs. We tried the change password request by hand and got error code 1351 from the message router service. The documentation for that error is as follows: Error Can't Access Domain Info - Indictes a windows NT server could not be contacted or that objects within the domain are protected such that necessary information could not be retrieved. Mostly it boils down to the Domain Controller for that network not letting the web server run the "Change password" request. The Web server is not part of a domain and is not part of the Novell network. Users can login with no problem but cannot change their passwords and new users are required to change their password on logon so they can't log in at all. Can you help? Tag: Trojans Tag: 315471

        • Trailing Slash Redirect Issue Having the following issue with IIS that I am not sure how to solve. My users are coming in on port 80 to my web server, but the web server itself is running on 8080. Have an SLB device that is doing the port translation. No problems there. Here is the issue: User types in: http://mysite.com/myapp and forgets the trailing slash. This gets sent correctly to the web server on port 8080, but IIS wants to do a 302 redirect for that page to append the trailing "/". So it does a 302 redirect to: http://mysite.com:8080/myapp/ This breaks on the front side of the load balancer since it is expecting the traffic on port 80. Is there anyway to tell ISS not to put in the port in the domain portion of the redirect. Thanks, Paul Tag: Trojans Tag: 315459

        • IIS Wildcard not working Hello, does anybody have any info on this ? Thanks When we try to add a wildcard redirect we get an error. "The path is not a valid URL." These are the steps we are taking ( from Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 324000) For example, to redirect all the files that end with .html to the Default.html file: Right-click the folder that you want to use as the base for rewriting, and then click Properties. Click the Directory tab. Click A redirection to a URL. Click the exact URL of the folder that is described in step 1. Type *.html;default.html in the Redirect to box. Click OK to accept the changes. • operators in iis6 The tab to add operators is not there anymore. I found a knowledge base article that said to right click the site and choose permissions to view/add operators. However, when I do that, all I see is NTFS permissions for the home directory. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance. Tag: Trojans Tag: 315451

        • Setting up fault tolerant web servers We currently have multiple small servers hosting our live websites, and would like to implement a more fault tolerant solution... Can anyone advise the best way forward for this (multiple smaller servers, or a couple larger servers) .. I do not want to implement a web farm as this would mean rewriting some of our websites, and time does not permit this Thanks Tag: Trojans Tag: 315436

        • Log File Help I am looking for a way to change the default name of the IIS log file. (exyymmdd.log) I am trying to create a scheduled event to go grab that file every day, and copy it, but since it never has the same name, I can't supply this event with the correct target. Any ideas? • HTTP Error 500 on IIS5 Hi, I have a strange behaviour on IIS 5.0. When a URL is requested using ordinary GET from a specific proxy the IIS respondes directly with a HTTP Error 500 "the system cannot find the file specified". When accessing the same resource in another way directly everything works just fine. anyone have any info about this?? Regards /B Tag: Trojans Tag: 315431

        • NNTP DOA I have a weird situation where I can not install NNTP and get it started. I have Exchange on the box with EXSP3 and 2000SP4. I never used news groups, but decided to see what I could do with them. I could not get the server to start from Exchange. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and still can not get it to start. The service starts without a problem, but the virtual server will not start. I do not receive any errors in the event viewer. All I get is a message that pops up and says that the virtual server did not respond in a timely fashion. Event viewer stated that the virtual server has been stopped with ID 94 I have searched and can not find anything that forces NNTP to reset whatever is missing/corrupt. And like I said, removing and reinstalling has no effect Any ideas Tag: Trojans Tag: 315430

        • Using IWA for IIS without domain I have two machines in a simple 'workgroup' setup (no domain) both running XP pro, one running IIS. I need to get IIS to authenticate a user on the other machine using Integrated Windows Authentication. All the docs and online messages say this will work with the 'fallback' NTLM challenge/response authentication, so long as the username and password for the logged-in user on the client machine matches those of an account on the server machine running IIS. The matching accounts are both in their respective Administrators group and the IIS 'Authentication methods' properties for the web site has 'Integrated Windows Authenticaion' ticked. But - whenever a browser on the client tries to access the web site on the server, up comes the 'connect as (servername)\guest' (and no-one else) dialog (also, trying to access a Tag: Trojans Tag: 315421

        • Installing a webserver Hi I'm a newbie installing a server with Windows 2003 Standard, to put in a ISP to work as a webserver. Since I'm new in this I would apreciate some security advices or some links. Which is the best (securest) way to upload files to the server? FTP? Is it recomendable to use TCP/IP filtering and/or ICF? Thanks in advance Tag: Trojans Tag: 315419

        • weird problem with locale Hello we have a win2k adv server, ENGLISH version. Our locale is set to ITALY (dd/mm/yyyy). We host several web sites on this server, most of them use MS Access db's. Some of our customers complain that the locale doesn't seem to work fine and give a weird problem. The locale is set as mm/dd/yyyy (english version) from day 1 to day 12 of every month, after that the locale is set as dd/mm/yyyy. So, for example, december 10th 2003 is written as 12/10/2003 instead december 15th 2003 is written as 15/12/2003. What can it be? Anyway, how can the locale be forced via registry for IUSR_xxx? and for all the users? Thanks Tag: Trojans Tag: 315418

        • SSL on virtual directory Is it possible on Windows 2000 Server and IIS 5 (that's what included with W2000, right?) to force only https connections to a virtual directory? www.customer.com is the normal http site www.customer.com/extranet/ is a virtual directory that I want to force https on. I know this is possible on Windows 2003 Server (tested) but the customer has Windows 2000 Server and I want to know if it will work there too. • Logging messed up by WebTrends? This is how one GET in the logfiles appear on one of my servers: 2003-09-24 18:18:24 xxws515.ad.xx.yyy.no FD-U\JEB W3SVC3 XXNT05U xxnt05u.ad.xx.dep.no 80 GET /File.asp Mozilla/4.0+(compatible;+MSIE+6.0;+Windows+NT+5.0),+http://xxnt05u/start.asp?infogroupID=1027&rightArticleID=1298,+133.150.64.124-3100920480.29571620,+File=Bilder/Ledelsesbygget_Verkstedgaarden_Mini.jpg 302 0 344 420 16 HTTP/1.1 xxnt05u Mozilla/4.0+(compatible;+MSIE+6.0;+Windows+NT+5.0) EGSOFT_ID=133.150.64.124-3100920480.29571620;+ASPSESSIONIDCCAAQQRT=HKOLKCDACCBOFBPCALBEEDON http://xxnt05u/start.asp?infogroupID=1027&rightArticleID=1298 It had installed WebTrends, which I have now uninstalled... still the logs look the same, which is different from the ones on an other server that has not had WebTrends installed. The original format should look somthing like this: 2003-11-13 15:38:53 10.0.64.139 - W3SVC1 SNIPP 10.0.64.139 80 GET /links/viewcat.asp cat=28 401 5 4615 1148 0 HTTP/1.1 snipp Mozilla/4.0+(compatible;+MSIE+6.0;+Windows+NT+5.0;+H010818;+.NET+CLR+1.0.3705) snippstory=Link7=5&Link6=143&Link5=182&Link3=396&Link4=397&count=9&Link8=142&Link1=37&Link9=&Link2=413;+ASPSESSIONIDQATBBBQD=HANDOFLBABCGKHAHAPCKCPCF http://snipp/links/viewcat.asp?cat=52 It seems that this part: " cat=28 401 5 4615 1148 0 HTTP/1.1 snipp " is missing from the upper logfile. cat=28 is the querystring parameter, 401 is probably the error status (401="OK" I presume), but the other numbers... what do they mean? Anyway they seem to be missing from the upper logfile. I've turned on all the extended logging properties for the upper server. Questions: Does WebTrends scramble the logfiles? What must I do to get back the original format on the logfiles? Sincerely Svein Terje Gaup Tag: Trojans Tag: 315415

        • ftp to your own server. I asked this a few days ago and didn't get an answer, so I'll ask it once more. I have a web server running IIS (might get 10 hits a week from friends) and since it's on my local machine I've never needed to "ftp" pages to it. I just save them to my hard drive. Now I want to use a 'blog program that needs to ftp to my server from outside my local network and don't know how to set it up for that. Could someone tell me how, or give me a link to the information? I know this is a newbie question and I should know the answer, but I don't. Send all the flames you want about bothering the group with such a question, but please include the answer with the flames. I still think that the only stupid question is the one not asked. lol. • Cannot Find Server I fear I'm too much of a newbie and I won't have enough information for you guys to help me, but I'll pose this question anyway. I have IIS V5.1 on my XP Pro machine, and it says the default web site (home directory C:\inetpub\wwwroot)is running. But, if I try to view a page in the browser (http://localhost/hello.htm for example) the browser thinks for a very long time and then gives me a Cannot Find Server page with the "The page cannot be displayed. The page you are looking for is currently unavailable..." etc. messaging. Even if that's far to little info to work with, ANY suggestions at all will be helpful. I'm skating at the end of what I know how to do. Tag: Trojans Tag: 315394
