If it is the FTP server which is throwing the Dr Watxon error then I =
don't see how this article applies at all. Since when did the FTP =
server use ISAPI?

What I am finding is that if my FTP Server (Windows 2000) has a =
substantial load on it whil using the MMC to look at CurrentSessions, it =
can throw a Dr Watson Exception error without regularity.

It's about third parties that run in IIS memory and thus also can corrupt
FTP.
Do you run thirdparty ISAPI dlls? If so, place them in process isolation,
and the FTP server will be stable.

This is a multi-part message in MIME format.

Yes Egbert I do. I run the ISAPI which redirects to the Tomcat server. =
I have been running like this for a very long time. It is not the FTP =
Server that is unstable it is the MMC. Here you ever seen this before:

This happened when I clicked OK on the dialog box after looking at =
Current Sessions of the FTP Server. Then MMC hung and I had to End =
Proccess of mmc.exe in the Task Manager. This does not happen when the =
FTP server does not have a high load on it. Somehow my users have =
decided to go FTP lately.

I think I know what this means it's just that if this were true it =
should always happen but don't. I get success; Dr Watson; now this =
message box; all with irregularity.

I'll give that you suggest a shot I just have to make sure it is not =
already set up that way and still works if I do.=20

Oh Windows 2000 SP3.

That image was interesting. It helped alot. I went ahead and set the =
folder where the ISAPI is to high isolated. Tomcat still functions as =
normal. I also set the connections to unlimited. We'll see if these =
fix the MMC issue. Note the server never had any issues. It was always =
the MMC. Thanks for your help.

Well Egbert I changed the max sessions to unlimited and changed the =
ISAPI to high isolated. Seemed to be OK until I decided to nix the =

When I did that Dr Watson threw a intetinfo error. =20

If you're using Tomcat's ISAPI redirector, than it's an ISAPI filter rather
than an ISAPI application. In IIS 5, ISAPI filters always run in-process
with inetinfo.exe regardless of the isolation mode of the site. ISAPI
applications, on the other hand, run in an instance of dllhost.exe for
high/medium sites, and in inetinfo for low isolation.

In W2K3, I don't recall having seen any option in MSFTP to limit to one
connection per IP. Of course, MSFTP is a pretty bare ftp daemon. It'd be
nice to see MS add additional features, like SSL, hammering protection, IP
connection restrictions, etc.
