    - Frontend server OWA loading hang I update my backend server win2003 sp1 but i did not update the frontend server,after that OWA in premier client did not working just page loading until 10 minute nothing happened. If using basic client it's working but you cannot reply ,compose new message and add attachment ,just read only.     - Problems in accessing website as a webfolder. Hello All, I have a website on iis6.0 on win2k3 web edition. Now i am trying to access a website as a web folder. Lets say the name of the website is X this website has a virtual directory named webdav. i.e IIS 6.0 (IIS Server) ---> X (WebSite name) ------>WebDav (Virtual Directory) Now when i try to open the website http://www.X.com as a webfolder it opens the website but gives following problems: 1. It doesn't ask for a password. (I had a searched on google and found some sites which say that it should ask for a password.) 2.     - Microsoft Transaction Server I am learning to program three tier database solutions in VB6. A number of Microsoft books refer to Microsoft Transaction Server (MTS). What was originally supplied in NT4 in the Option Pack has been integrated into IIS as Component Services. My server runs Windows 2003 server with IIS 6.0 running.     - dllhost.exe taking more %Processor time Hi, I have a COM+ DLL being called from an ASP page. The COM+ DLL is running in the context of dllhost.exe under the username IWAM_TEST. After some time its taking around >90% of the CPU time. To isolate the problem, i wrote a stub DLL(that doesnt do any processing), but even then after some it's taking more CPU time.     - IIS on SBS 2003 not responding I am running into a strange problem with my SBS 2003 server. Everything runs fine for about a month but after that time for some strange reason IIS stops serving pages. And by serving pages I mean everything that has anything to do with IIS stops responding. The Share Point website, any websites that I have created, OWA the Backup logs in the Server manager are not displayed, the Monitoring and Reporting pages are not displayed nothing returns a page (I get the "Page can not be displayed" error page). The strange part about my problem is that the server is not logging ANY errors, when I check the running services all the necessary services seem to be working fine. I can restart the IIS service just fine but nothing works until I reboot the whole server. After the reboot everything works just fine for the next month or so and then the problem comes back. When the service stopped responding again I tried to stop the Word Wide Web Publishing service and then telnet to port 80 from the server, it would come back with a "Could not open a connection to the host..." error message after starting the service again it would just give me a black screen with a cursor. As soon as I pressed the Enter key it would drop me back to the prompt. When the server is running correctly and I try the same thing the IIS server returns the HTTP/1.1 Bad Request header. I am not running URL-scan or anything like it. If you need more info please ask away, I don't even know where to start looking since it's not giving me any errors at all.     - IIS 5.0 Event Log Errors I am maintaining 6000+ web sites and have a question regarding the following error logged in the system event log. The servers are W2k SP4. Event ID: 101, Source: W3SVC The server was unable to add the virtual root '' for the directory '\\UNC\html\com\domain\host' due to the following error: The network BIOS command limit has been reached. The data is the error code. There is a KB that address this discussing an unrelated matter but the solution has no effect for me. Note that the doc root is a UNC share (the example above is just that) and there are many websites. They all work fine but this error bothers me.     - New problem with 2k3, SP1? Running IIS6, Windows 2003 sp1. Tri-NIC'd server, Nic #1 = LAN addy (lan gateway) Nic #2 = WAN addy (website A) Nic #3 = WAN addy (website B) In RRAS, 0.0.0.0 is routed through Nic #2. Everything was working prior to installing SP1. Now, the website B on Nic #3 will not respond. From a remote location I can ping Nic #3, but I get "server could not be found" in the browser. Website A is still working fine. Checked RRAS, restarted IIS. Everything's ok - port 80 is open on both Nics, both websites are running. Interesting part is, from this remote location if I establish a VPN to the server (VPN connects to Nic #2), website B magically begins to respond while the VPN is up. Disconnect the VPN, website B quits responding. Website A is meanwhile unaffected and continues to work either way. This seems like a RRAS issue to me maybe, but I'm not sure - it was working before, and my RRAS config, Nics, IP addresses, firewall - nothing changed. This started after installing SP1. Any ideas?     - IIS 5 Application objects persist and app_start/stop not firing We have a .NET object we are loading into the Application object via the application_start() event. We are also explicitly disposing the object within the application_stop() event. The application is in a high/isolated protection state. No matter what we do, this application object persists with its original values when we stop and start the website. The only way to guarantee the object disposes is to completely stop ALL of IIS, or to recompile the object itself. What is the relationship between an IIS application's app domain and the worker process IIS assigns to that website, and how do we accurately reset the application so that the stop and start methods are actually useful?     - IIS 5.0 and Remote Share What we have IIS Windows 2000 SP4 ASP.net v1.1.4322 Virtual Site set to use windows authentication. When we go to our site the user information is being passed to the sql box, but when we try to access a remote share through our asp script We get access denied. So I enabled audit logon on the remote file server (Windows 2000) to see what information was beeing passed and it is ANONYMOUS LOGON and not the user who is accessing the site Verified that the share and security is set to use everyone with full control. To verify this was an issue with IIS we published the site and application to a windows 2003 box and everything works like a champ. I verified that username was being passed to the remote file server and it was. How can resolve this issue with IIS5/W2K passing the ANONYMOUS LOGON instead of the actual user?     - Trouble with client certificate mapping on IIS 5 When attempting to map a client certificate to an local machine account using IIS certificate mapping I get an "The certificate file is not valid." error even though the certificate is in fact valid. Using the same certificate I was able to map it before. The only change that was made was to use Metaedit to disable certificate revovation list (CRL) checking. Here is what I have tried so far. I went back and removed the entries in the Metabase that were added to disable CRL checking so that everything should be as it was when I could made the certificate. I have tried numerous different client certificates and they all give the same error. The configuration of the machine is W2K w/ SP4 and all updates applied. The certificates are issued by the Department of Defense (DoD) and the root CA certificate is installed on the machine. Any help is greatly appreciated.     - Problems with W2003 Server/IIS6/ActiveX Hi, we have an ASP.NET application that uses an ActiveX Control (PTV Geocode Engine) via .NET Interop. The application works fine on WindowsXP/IIS5, but using W2003 the ActiveX throws an Exception: --- The server threw an exception.--- at GCOENGOLELib.GeocodeEngineClass.FindAddress() --- More information about the error is not available. At this point the control also tries to read data from the file system, maybe this causes the problem? What can we do?     - problems hosting my own website I am attempting to host my own website, but have run into several obstacles. Due to the limited traffic I receive, I assumed I could use my dsl connection and win2k server to host my site. Obstacles: My ISP (verizon) blocks port 80 so my windows http webserver listens on port 8183 I don't have a specific(static) IP for my website e-commerce due to the high cost of a security certificate from verisign my website url is listed as an ip instead of a "alpha" url which I worry may alarm customers/clients scripts break since my ip and url do not match (since my ip gets updated frequently) wORKAROUNDS: I'm using no-ip to host the dns entries for my dot com thus all queries for my dot com get forwared to no-ip.com which then forwards them to: http://myip:8183 I configured all requests for my alternate web port on my router to be forwarded specifically to my webserver pc on my local network I use the masking option @ no-ip to substitute my httP://ip with http://www.*.com I use paypal for all eccommerce transactions. Are there any good articles/books on doing this?     - Drag and Drop broken I cannot drag and drop anything from my desktop to another spot on m desktop and for that matter drag anything in Illustrator or photoshop Also, the search option doesnt work in my start menu and i cannot clic hypertext links with _blank.The new window just wont open. Unfortunately the environment variables specified for the individual users using the control panel System (System->Advanced->Environment Variable ...) are not set. The site is made up of ASP and ASP.Net pages along with VB6 COM objects, VB.Net COM Interoper objects and VB.Net objects.     - wildcard extension ASP.Net httphandler gives 401.3 ACL permission denied error on a directory First a little background: I've written an httphandler to handle wildcard extensions (i.e., I want to handle all URLs that come in rather than just URLs w/ a specific file extension so I can give friendly names to various dynamic web pages). To do this, I've written an httphandler and put it in the web.config for my webapp (stored in the wwwroot\webapp directory). It works great for the most part; I get to handle any URLs below my webapp directory. The problem is, when I use a URL that references the directory, IIS seems to be prompting for a username/password (it's set to use anonymous and Windows authentication). If I turn off Windows authentication, I just get a 401.3 error code. I used sysinternal's FileMon program and can see the aspnet process trying to access \inetpub\wwwroot\webapp and that's why it's getting the error. If I do a FileMon trace w/ wildcard extensions turned off, it's the inetinfo process that accesses the \inetpub\wwwroot\webapp directory instead of the aspnet process. I've tried adding the ASPNET user to this directory w/ no luck. I've also tried logging in as a real user w/ admin access when the prompt comes up w/ no luck. I've tried adding a default home document in IIS (e.g., default.aspx) so it should try loading that if it hits that directory, but it doesn't do it. I put a breakpoint in my custom httphandler and it never reaches it, so the problem is definitely happening in the aspnet process; it also happens in Win2K/XP/2003, so it's not operating system specific. If I access a URL that would map to any real directory (e.g. localhost/webapp/subdir where the \inetpub\wwwroot\webapp\subdir directory exists), it also prompts, so this seems to only happen if the URL maps to a real directory. Any clues on what I should try next?     - http file download from IIS 6 hanging We have Win2003 server with IIS6, when trying to download a file from the server, for example http://ourserver/TestFolder/dotnetfx.exe, it starts to download on the client but hangs some random location during the download. It is not consistent and if I cancel the download and try it again, it resumes and continues from the same location. Eventually getting the whole file. IT doesn't seem to matter what the file is either and downloading over a slower connection seems to work better. Any ideas?     - Server busy, now HTTP/1.1 New Session Failed Hello all, I recently setup the CompanyWeb site externally for a new, standard install of Windows Server 2003 for SBS. It's been working for about a week, until I received a report this morning that users trying to access Remote Web Mail through CompanyWeb were receiving a message about the server being too busy. The number of connections was set to 500 and it's used by two people, so I knew it wasn't actually too busy. I couldn't find any solution, so I used iisreset. However, now I'm getting the error " HTTP/1.1 New Session Failed" when trying to access Remote E-Mail Access (http://companyweb/exchange). Any ideas on how to proceed?     - IIS 5.0 - Redirection? Hi All, Within IIS Admin, I right click on my site and select browse. An IE window comes up and gives me the site http://localhost/. The first problem is that secure channel (SSL) is required, so why am I getting http://localhost/ when trying to browse locally instead of https://localhost/? The second and more important question is that the website is actually located at https://localhost/live. When I modify the URL to this address, the site comes up without a problem. How do I make this the initial site when I right click on my website in IIS and click broswe. I want it to go to https://localhost/live directly. Consequently, when people internally hit the site by going to https://192.168.1.43/, they get page cannot be displayed. However, if you go to https://192.168.1.43/live thye site comes up without a problem. I need to be able to have people type in https://192.168.1.43 (or whatever I make the DNS equivalent) and it automatically direct to https://192.168.1.43/live.     - ASP 0201 Error Invalid Default Script Language C'mon, with the recent spate of reportings of this error there just has to be something global causing the errors so many people seem to be experiencing - a Windows Update perhaps because that's the only change I've made to my machine between ASP files being servered correctly by my Win XP Pro IIS 5.1 and the ASP 0201 error I'm now getting. HTML files, images, even server-side JScript works but VBScript produces the ASP 0201 Invalid Default Script Language. I'd appreciate it if we skip over the "My First Website" suggestions of checking the application's "Default ASP Language" field - mine is set correctly, as it always has been (when it worked before) to VBScript. I've tried all the following (with no success): 1. Added <% @language="VBScript" %> to the top of the page. 2. Changed the "Default ASP Language" to JScript and back to VBScript. 3. Used regsvr32 to re-register asp.dll, scrrun.dll, et. al. 4. Removed (including the inetsvr folder) and re-installed IIS. 5. Re-installed v5.6 of the VBScript scripting engine. 6. Reset permissions required for IIS5 (as per MS document). 7. Uninstalled all Windows Updates back to the end of August. The ASP I'm trying hasn't been changed since it worked last (several weeks ago) and anyway even an ASP file containing NO SCRIPT fails with the ASP 0201 error. I've tried so much I now get a bit confused but I'm pretty sure when I set the application's "Default ASP Language" to "JScript" and the ASP page's <%@language="VBScript"%> that things worked but when I changed the application's "Default ASP language" back to VBScript I once again got the ASP 0201 errors. I'd need to confirm if this is so. Command like .vbs files written in VBScript work fine so VBScript appears to be installed correctly. I haven't tried it yet but regardless of the outcome, adding the IUSR_MACHINENAME to the Administrators group (which seems to have fixed the issue for some) IS NOT A SOLUTION. It's the anonymous Internet user for God's sake! I'd have thought this was a no-no for anyone with this problem. Remember, ASP used to work WITHOUT IUSR_MACHINENAME in the Administrators group therefore you're simply masking the CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM which is still very much present.     - IIS 6: PFN_HSE_IO_COMPLETION doesn't report a client disconnection I have written an ISAPI extension which allows to download files store in SQL Server database. Binary data is sent to client usin asynchronous WriteClient. The problem: when this extension is working on Win2003 server an client starts to download a file and then cancels the request (an closes a socket), my PFN_HSE_IO_COMPLETION function is beeing calle without any error. That is dwError = 0, GetLastError() = 0 and cbIO i equal to the value, which I passed to WriteClient. Since no erro occurred I read the next portion of data from SQL server and send it t client. But client is already disconnected so PFN_HSE_IO_COMPLETION i called again and again almost without any time interval. This continue until I send all the file to disconnected client. If a file is large enough this leads to 100% CPU usage for severa seconds and excess traffic between IIS machine and SQL server machine. On WinXP and Win2000 dwError is set to ERROR_NETNAME_DELETED so I kno that it's time to end request. Calling HSE_REQ_IS_CONNECTED doesn't help much, because I still don' get an error during several seconds and CPU/network load gets high.     - Saving Excel files from Browser I have a web server with IIS 5 that has a directory with Excel files in it. When I link to one of the files, the user can 1) right click "Save As" and save it to his desktop. -- That works-- 2) left click "Open" and open the workbook in the browser -- That works-- But when the workbook is opened in the browser and the user goes to "Save As" to save it to his local machine, he is prompted with a Windows login/password prompt. They then can't save the file because it says they don't have appropriate permissions. I can because I'm also an administrator on the server. Event ID: 101, Source: W3SVC The server was unable to add the virtual root '' for the directory '\\UNC\html\com\domain\host' due to the following error: The network BIOS command limit has been reached. The data is the error code. There is a KB that address this discussing an unrelated matter but the solution has no effect for me. Note that the doc root is a UNC share (the example above is just that) and there are many websites. They all work fine but this error bothers me. even know if thta is possible) I need this in so that I won't need
everbody's credentials (as I do now) any information will be
