    - Windows Authentication not passing username Hello, I have a very simple situation. I installed an export of an MTS package onto my web application server. I call the remote object from within an .asp page, through IIS of course, which is set to Windows Authentication security. When I call the object, the remote server, where the object is located, does not receive the logged on user's token, but rather it receives ("Anonymous Logon") which gives an access denied error.     - Domain switch stops me getting full name Hi I have a simple piece of code that get the persons username and then queries the domain for there full name. We were on a RM connect 2 system before and the code worked fine. Now though when after we switched to a 2000 domain system without RM I can not retrieve the details. This is the piece of code it fails at: Set oUser = GetObject("WinNT://[DOMAIN]/[USERNAME]") I have tried it by inserting the domain name and a valid username into that and it just does not work when it did before. Could it be the domain controller not allowing IIS on a seperate machine access? The IIS server is as follows: Win 2k server SP4 PHP (latest ver) Mysql (latest ver) The IIS machine is only on the domain it does nothing with active directory etc. All it does is the intranet site.     - IIS Front end Hey all, I posted the other day, but I think I need to provide more info. I need to create a "pass through" server for IIS. Our IIS server accesses domain resources through UNC (such as the file server where the .dll's write uploaded files), and it also interacts with our SQL Server. I need to create a DMZ type configuration where ONLY port 80 will be open to the outside and also to the internal network. Since the box in the DMZ will not have access to DNS, WINS, SQL Server, etc. I need this box to simply forward the http request through the one and only open port (80) to the internal IIS Server which can handle the request, and send the response back to the DMZ server, which will then forward the response back to the client.     - Converting site from Apache/PHP to IIS/PHP - default document problem I have a web site that's using php on apache to dynamically display folder contents... That is, I've created a script that is displayed if there isn't a default document in the folder itself. My default documents in Apache are in this order: index.htm index.html index.php /_Script/_index.php The last one is a problem in IIS... So, for example, if I browse a folder that contains images and has no index/default page, the _index.php script I've created displays the list of images as well as thumbnails that it dynamically creates. Directory browsing is disabled because I have my own implementation of it in the _index.php script that has many more features than the built-in directory listing. If you'd like to see what I'm talking about, take a look at http://www.jmiassociates.com/Public/Images/Stock/ The folder contains only web-size .jpg images, and sub-folders that contain thumbnails and the original full-size images. The problem is this: I'm upgrading our file server to Windows Server 2003, and I'd like to migrate the site to IIS to make administration of users/groups easier. I've configured IIS with php which works just fine, but the problem I have is that the IIS doesn't seem to allow paths from being entered in the default document list. I also tried moving the script to the root of the site, but the leading forward slash is ignored. Does anyone know of a way to set a path to a default document? I've looked for a solution and performed the corrective action, but none of our websites have SSL port definitions and the input field for the SSL port are greyed out. Does this error come from just the local machine website definitions or can it come from other servers trying to use the SSL port. HELP.     - ADSI - changing Application Execute permissions Hi, I am trying to create a list of new sites using IIS ADSI scripts, however all my default applications (for each web site) Execute Permissions are set to "None" and I cannot find out any where how to change them to "Script Only" using IIS ADSI. I've now managed to change the application protection to Pooled, but the Execute Permissions is seeming a impossible change. I have two errors unexpected. * http://localhost is not working.     - Slow downloads fast uploads Hoping someone can shed some light. My IIS server is having an attack of shyness whereby http:// https:// and ftp:// traffic DOWN is painful (5 - 6 kb/s) while ftp:// uploads are about 1.5 mbit.     - domain / basic authentication I have a little issue that I'd like to find a fix for. A have a web server that is a member of a development domain (yes, I know that having web servers being members of domains isn't generally a good idea). I have a web site on this server that is set to use basic authentication. I've created a local user account on this server for this basic authentication. Developers access this server remotely using terminal services. They log in using a domain account that is a member of the local administrator group in order for them to make changes to this machine. They have discovered that if they type domain\accountname and the appropriate password they can access the website that uses basic authentication without using the local account I created. I can't think of any way of preventing this short of removing them as local administrators which I don't really want to do. Does any have any other suggestions?     - Using virtual directories for common directories (scripts, images, styles, etc.) Hi, (sorry for the crosspost, I wasn't sure which was the best place to put this). I was just thinking about something and wondered if any of you has some ideas about this. I'm using the NetAdvantage component suite from Infragistics for my web applications. When installing they create several virtual directories for the scripts and images directories that their components use. That way e.g., when you drop a control on a form, and the imagedirectory property is by default set to /ig_images/ it automatically finds the images, no matter where the webform is located in the hierarchy of the website. I find this a clever idea. I've never done this and never seen a website that does this, but it sounds like a good idea. I mean, I have a web application with several subdirectories, user controls, script/style/images directories etc. etc. It seems like a good idea to turn my images, scripts, styles directories into virtual directories, so that I can access them from anywhere within my web application with simply the virtual directory name, not having to worry anymore about those relative paths (../../). I know about the "~" to access the virtual root, but I've had some problems with that, especially when the web application is not in a virtual directory but in its own website.     - NO POST form function I am creating a web site in which an .html form posts information to an .asp page (or .asp to .asp) - the information will not post on target page. No error message - no 405 error - nothing. I have had the script looked at a dozen times with no error in script found. People conclude it is a IIS problem stating my "IIS configuration is set to GET and not to POST". I am running IIS 5.0 on a 2000 OS, I find no documentation on the subject and have little familiarity with IIS. Can anyone help? This is what I have checked thus far - In my IIS folder I click on my default web ste icon (left pane) single click the web site folder, then right click - then go to properties; Above Application settings everything is checked. However, after I upgrade the IIS to IIS5.0, the page cannot work due to the code " server.createobject("Info8.Document") ".     - the specified module could not be found Setup a new site iis 4. When it is setup as a new site then whenever a response.redirect is run in the code we get the specified module could not be found. The url it is redirecting to is correct Now when it is setup under the default site as a virtual website everything works fine on that machine. On another server with the same settings we do not have this problem when we setup the site as a new site. Which leads me to believe this is a machine specific problem but i do not have control of this machine...     - Popup Request Hanging Main Window Request I posted this on the aspnet forum to no avail, perhaps someone in this forum can point me in the right direction. Thx~ PJ My web application will open a POPUP that, upon a user action, will initiate a request that will result in a file being sent as an attachment to the client. The download works fine, except that the user is no longer able to browse and get responses in the MAIN window. The request just seems to hang and does not get the response until the download is finished. It only seems to effect the session in which the download is taking place. Other clients, even on the same computer, are not experiencing request/response issues. I doubt it's an issue with the server side code I am using for the download, but here it is nonetheless. Any advice on this issue would be greatly appreciated. When I look at my default web site, I see a tab which says Server Extensions (none of which are set up). I am assuming that this is an older version of Front Page extensions. How can I make sure that all old versions of Frontpage Server Extensions are completely removed from the system?     - MSMDSRV.EXE using 99% of CPU post Win2k SP4 I just installed Windows 2000 SP4 on a SQL server machine. Upon rebooting the machine, MSMDSRV.EXE was consuming 99% of the CPU, and the machine was extremely slow responding to anything. Stopping the IIS Admin service would bring the CPU usage back down. Everything I have read regarding MSMDSRV.EXE seems to be related to SQL server, and the IIS. Uninstalling IIS will rectify the problem, but I need IIS also. Any ideas what is going on?     - OWA is not responding Hello: I have been having problems with my OWA on W2K sp2 server for the last few days. Yesterday it was giving me so many problems I decided to reboot the server and then OWA started to work. Last night somewhere between 8:30pm and 10:30pm the problem started again. If I try an open the page Explorer is displaying the following error: HTTP Error 500-12 Application Restarting Internet Information Services I checked TechNet and found Q248013 "HTTP Error 500-12 Application Restarting" but this does not seem to apply. The event viewer has generated some Event ID 5's with different discriptions. They are at the bottom of this post. Does anyone know what might be going on with this? My websites on the server are working fine.     - ASP fails to run hi everyone..ive been succesfuly running an intranet site for past one month..suddenly all my asp pages gives http error 500 or 403. I Disabled friendly http errors in my browser and then when i run my IIS home page i.e. servername/virtualdiractory i get the following message displayed: Directory Listing Denied - this virtual directory does not allow contents to be listed. And other asp pages gives Server Applivation arror. Running IIS 5 on win 2000. I have checked permissions, What can be the problem. Please help. Im very new to all this.     - IIS SSL configuration problem Hi I have a web site under IIS 5 in Windows 2002 Server and I want to setup. In the application I have created an HttpHandler in .NET. I have set the site to require SSL and 128-bit encryption and i have chosen the Require Client Certificate option in order for the application to require client certificates. If I use IE to call the handler, the site asks for the client certificate. If another application does a web request to the application, the site does not ask for the client certificate. I did a trace using the network monoitor tool and after the client and server hello, the presentation of the server certificate, there is no client certificate requested from the server and the call proceeds as normal to application data transfer.     - Deploying Win2k SP4 Hi, When I apply SP4, I encounter the error "Unable to write ScriptMaps metabase entry" "Failed to execute regsvr32.exe. Error Code 5." What I finally did is 1. Uninstall IIS 2. Install SP4 3. Reinstall IIS No problem so far. I then compare 3 files in the server with another server which has successfully patched with SP4 with IIS running. The 3 files are inetmgr.exe, inetmgr.dll and inetinfo.exe. The files ob both servers are the same in terms of File version and other information. Does anyone know if IIS 6 works with SiteMinder tool(web
agent or policy server)? I heard one of the webcast
indicated that SiteMinder did not work on the standard
install of IIS 6.0 but may work with IIS 6.0 set to IIS 5
compatibility mode but there may be some issues.

Any suggestions?
