Hi All,
Please help...
I am getting the message "The Server is Currently Disabled" when I
browse to my site with freindly messages disabled. When enabled the
browser just 'hangs' indefinately.
I have searched previous topics, but found nothing related so please
bear with me.
Here are the details:
1. Site 'hangs' between 4 hours and 4 days after reboot (normally over
a weekend)
2. Avg 80 users over a period of 4 days.
3. The audit trial I create in my database shows no user activity at
time of hanging, so I cannot pin point a a specific function within
the web application causing the problem.
4. Backup Exec running daily.
5. No set pattern/time limit to hanging and no repeatable action to
cause it.
6. Win 2K sp4
7. IIS5
8. SSL with server certificate
9. Windows Integrated Authentication and no anonymous access
html pages still served from site.
10. asp pages still served by other sites under "default web site"
11. I HAVE disabled freindly messages - that is the actual message
that is returned.
12. No CPU usage in dllhost.exe (currently showing 140MB in taskmgr)
13. No database connections open (to SQL Server)
14. No current nonanonymous sessions open (and presumably locked).
15. Crystal Enterprise installed and still working
16. Just sync'd iwam user - no effect
17. Visual basic 'middleware', i.e. ActiveX dll with various user
defined classes (about 5mb in size).
18. Running in 'high' application protection
19. Several #include's in asp files.
20. DLL using apartment threading - but not an MTS component.
21. Middleware installed in web directory, i.e.
C:\inetpub\wwwroot\mysite
Virtual directory pointing to 'mysite' processes asp pages OK whilst
'mysite' is 'hung'.
22. W3SVC logs still created with new entries reporting 401 code, but
no sub code (ggrrr!)
23. Tried redirecting HTTP error 500-100 to default, url and file - no
effect.
24. No related messages appearing in application, security or system
event logs (sorry).
---------
How can I 'unlock' this site without restarting IIS (if possible) and
more importantly how can I determine what is causing the hanging?
Are there any vbs files that cscript can run to show me what
dllhost.exe is doing or what resources it has locked?
This has been going on at a client's site for nearly 5 months now and
we are both at the end of our tethers.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Jeremy Pridmore
