Need Advice on error code 12031 in WinInet.h
Hi,
I encounter this error
12031 ERROR_INTERNET_CONNECTION_RESET
The connection with the server has been reset.
Here is the details.
The server which we are trying to connect has Win 2000
server OS installed. Basically we are trying to make a
connection to the IIS running in that server. This gives
the error.
We have set up a virtual web directory in IIS. The
virtual directory contains a sscesa20.dll file. This file
is the MS SQL CE server agent for our PDA client access.
MS SQL CE server agent will access to the MS SQL server
on the PDA behalf. Basically, the whole thing is about
RDA (Remote Data Access) protocol.
This works well in our private network. But when we
deploy to the public network this errors occurs. We are
wondering if it could be some network configuration that
causes the problem. If it is, what exactly is the
underlying problem or settings?
Thanks,

Secruity control of iis on accessing nsf
hi guys,
I'm using iis 5.0 to create a web site (with COM+ and
ASP).
Recently, the user request to access a nsf (domino
database). I can easily do that by put the nsf file
under one of the web application directory. However, I
don't know how to add secruity control on that.
What i know is add NT password control on this. However,
it's not practical in my case as the nsf is a bulletin
board and more than 1000 of user will access (so license
is an issue for me). Any other better advice?
Thx in advance. Tag: Self register Tag: 312670

Frontpage Log Problems
1. Log onto remote web.
2. Select View > Reports > Usage > Usage Summary (or any other item).
3. Error alert is returned: "There is no usage information available
because no data is being collected for this web. To collect usage data,
contact the server administrator."
4. Note that other reports ARE available (such as broken links) - that do
not depend on FP access to the log files.
5. Also, note that these were working prior to migration from the old
server to the new - but under the new server (Win2k3 - they have never
worked).
6. Its my guess that something is missing on the server side for FP server
extensions - and that some error there is preventing FP from "seeing" the
server logs - again, this worked just fine on the old server
Any ideas?

Logparser 2.1 SQL output anomalies
Whenever I attempt to load less than 100 and more than 40 log records from a CSV file to a SQL 2000 (fully patched) DB (either master or one that I created), I get consistent, but incorrect results.
For example, using a CVS file with 70 records, 60 items are entered in the DB, and the data in the table is items 41-70, and then 41-70 repeated again (items 41-70 are entered twice) â?? there is no sign of items 1-40. If I try a smaller CSV file (greater than 40 entries), then I get the same pattern. If I create a 40 row CSV file, it works fine. If I create a 41 row CSV file, only item 41 is in the DB (it is in there twice â?? there are two rows total in the DB after this test).
What is strange is that if I output the same 70 row CSV file to the DATAGRID, all rows are present. I believe that the problems are with the DB import section of Logparser, or perhaps with the ODBC bulk load process?
If you could please ping the developer of Logparser or point me in the right direction, that would be great.

Dual Nic in Win2k Server for IIS 5
Hello,
I have a Win2k Server currently with 2 Nic Cards. I want to have one nic
card connect to my internal segment, and one connect to my outside segment
so I can run a public FTP server. Is this possible without causing too many
headaches with 2 nic cards on 2 separate segments? Has anyone tried this

I know this could be a security risk doing it this way, but I am more less
just experimenting with the dual nics and 2 segments.

IIS Server DCOM Error Event ID 10004 after joining domain
Hi there,
I guess this is fairly simple, I have joined my IIS Server
to a domain (formerly workgroup) and now whenever hitting
the IIS ASP processor I get a DCOM error for some

I think it has something to do with the user that is
impersonated by the IIS and that runs the ASP processor...

Hosting multiple sites on same IIS server
Help. I am trying to host multiple sites on the same server. I don't want to use virtual IP's and/or specifying diff port numbers. It would seem like an easy thing to do. I have read the docs about a virtual site and all, and I have tried what it said, but it doesn't seem to be working. I know I have done this in the past, but seem to be missing somthing simple
Right now, I have mulitple sites running at the root of the server, all pointing to diff home dirs. If I shut all but one of them down, the one that is left running responds properly. If I start any of the others and have 2 running, I can only get one of them.
I have tried creating a main site and making multiple virtual sites and this still doesn't work. I have tried diff address paths, but I think it should work w/o having to specify the parent host site. I should be able to specify the site right after the server name
For example
+Server
=Parent site (Named Website
-Virtual site1 (Named Resource1
-Virtual site2 (Named Resource2
I am thinking I SHOULD be able to navigate to \\Server1\Resource1 or \\Server1\Resource2 in this configuration with both virtual sites running. But bottom line, I can't
I had at one time this configuration
+Server
=Site1 (Named Resource1
=Site2 (Named Resource2
In this config, I would have to stop one site or the other, only one would work at a given time. I could navigate to \\Server1\Resource1 or \\Server1\Resource2 depending on which one was shut down, but not if both were running
I think I am missing something simple here. Any info is appreciated. Thanks in advance. Tag: Self register Tag: 312571

IIS doesn't start on boot (startup)
Perhaps an odd one...
IIS service IS set for 'automatic' and all dependancies
are as should be (IIS Admin).
But here's the thing, whenever the server is restrated
(rebooted) the IIS service doesn't start...no error of
event created..it just doesn't startup. Some other
services (set to auto start) also do not start.
If I logon then the services fire but not before. I have
other servers and none act like this.
Even compared settings and all seem ok.
Any insight in to what potentially could be over riding
the service settings for services??
It's a development server and not a real mission critical
component but I have been tolerating it for some time and
it is an annoyance.

Users appears under one account in IIS
In an Intranet-ASP-application we encountered the problem that (only a few)
users logon to the IIS under ONE ACCOUNT. This is particulary bad, because
the users get into the application via their NT-Account. We grab that
information over the LOGON-User Server variable and store it in a session
variable. So e.g. the first user "user1", IP: 192.168.10.10 enters the
application and works in accordance to his authorization. The second user
"user2", IP: 192.168.10.20 enters the application, but is identified by the
ASP-application and logged in the IIS-Log as the first user aswell. So it
seems so as long as the session doesn't expire all the following users enter
the application using the existing session variable from the first user. As
I don't have that much knowledge about network issues I assume these users
use some kind of proxy which let them appear as only one user. Does anybody
know this phenomenon and can provide some help?

Removing website re-direction
Hi,
I had an intranet application(asp.net) deployed on one of
my webservers - say webserver1. I'd set up a permanent
redirection (in IIS) to the same application on a
different webserver, say webserver2. So a url of
http://webserver1/myapplication would automatically
redirect to http://webserver2/myapplication. Now here's
the interesting bit. I removed "myapplication" from
webserver1 successfully (through add/remove programs)(but
I hadn't removed the redirection from IIS before hand, I'm
guessing this is the cause of my problem). On
webserver1, "myapplication" has been removed from IIS,
there is no virtual directory, and I deleted all the
temporary asp.net files from the
C:\WINNT\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.0.3705\Temporary
ASP.NET Files\"myapplication" directory. Now when I try
to deploy a newer version of "myapplication" onto
webserver1, I get a message back stating "..the Internet
Information Server might not be running, or the path
exists and is redirected to another machine." I can see
that the re-direction still exists, as
http://webserver1/myapplication will still point me to
http://webserver2/myapplication, even when the application
no longer exists on webserver1. So my question is, if the
error message is correct, how can I remove this re-
direction from IIS, when the redirection was originally
set up in IIS on a website that no longer exists. By the
way, I've run iireset & that didn't help.
Thanks

application protection high
I have a problem with an IIS server that occasionally crashes.
I am suspecting a DLL filter (iisrewrite) that is running on one of the

Right now all the sites are running application protection Medium (pooled).
If I change the application protection to High (isolated) on the site
running the filter will it then only be that site that crashes or what?
What would be the best way to investigate if this DLL is at fault? Tag: Self register Tag: 312393
what should be shown?
Hi what should be shown when http://localhost/ is put in the address bar of
IE6? I on my computer at home I get 2 browser windows, one with
localstart.asp
and the other with
iishelp/iis/misc/default.asp
On one computer at the college I get an error message about page not found
and on another there is a listing of the files in the wwwroot directory. No
one has been able to get IIS to work properly on any computer yet we are
supposed to make a web site using ASP and Access. Due to the way the
computers are set up at the college we are unable to install or change any
programs and the lecturer doesn't seem to have a clue as it works on his
computer in his staff room. But he can do whatever he wants to that
computer. So is there a site anywhere that deals with the setting up and
configuring of IIS in windows XP Pro?
Thanks Sophie Tag: Self register Tag: 312392
