I am working on an NT box running IIS 4. I have two sites, each with
their own IP address and each site needs to be secured using SSL. To
do this I have purchaced two certificates from the same certificate
authority and setup one on each site however, at any given point I can
only get one of the sites to work using https. The second site
returns 'page cannot be displayed' error.

The support department at the CA have said that this is an IIS4
problem and said that I need to upgrade my IIS installation, however
this is not an option as our test environment needs to be exactly the
same as the live environment.

Is this a recognised problem with IIS 4? and if so, is there any
Microsoft help on the issue?, or can anyone tell me how I could fix
the problem?

Any help much appreciated,

Thanks

Hello,
You should be able to use 2 different ssl certificates on 2 different
websites in IIS4. I recommend that you download and run the SSLDiag tool
and see what it has to say.
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=cabea1d0-5a10-41bc-

SSLDiag will tell you if there is a problem with the certificate or with
the bindings, etc. You can also generate a temporary certificate using this
tool and see if that works.

Hope this helps,
