I have a win2k server that hosts several web sites.
On those sites, we have the usual "contact us" tab. it is
setup to forward us a canned e-mail with the info that the
person enters.
here is the deal. these emails are going to the
\mailroot\badmail or queue directory. they never leave
the server...
So, any Ideas? I tried all the settings allowable in
SMTP. Yes, it is behind a firewall...

thanks! Tony B

Is the domain to which the mail is being sent listed in the domains list?
And is the SMTP server reporting any DNS errors?

If you look in the event log, you'll sometimes see an error to the effect of
"cannot create drop for *" or something like that. That is indicative of a
SMTP server that hasn't been configured to send to a given domain.

Still a no go after what? You've checked DNS, the domains config, the event
log for bad drop entries? Which, or all three?

And you've been through the list that Jeff sent?

Do the FP extensions specify the server for each virtual web? (use
"localhost" for best results.)

Does the server reside behind NAT? If so, can you browse the internet with
it? Can you "ping" any mail server?

Check the log, if it's not in verbose mode go in and check all the boxes in
the logging preferences, you might find that critical error message you
need.

[Though, as a wild guess, it sounds like your DNS on that server is yacked
up so the SMTP server cannot find any other server on the internet.]

winsock... could be a proxy problem... what proxy server are you using?
MS Proxy by chance?
