When/how can I get my hands on an alpha/beta/ctp of IIS7? I am about to begin
writing a book about the topic. I am an MCP/MCDBA/MCAD & member of
MSDN/TECHNET.

Thanks,
Derek

Longhorn Vista Beta 2.

Actual details of more frequent previews are still being worked out. I'll
know when we start building the ISO/VHD for distribution.

As the software development manager for hosting.com I think I probably know
IIS in general pretty well. Also being a tech editor for WinFX, yukon,
whidbey I think I know the new techs pretty well and I make a great deal of
money to boot. The real scary thing is that someone with the nerve to respond
to an honest question in this professional forum makes a posting like that!

I am running build 5231 of vista and offhand I do not see IIS7!

Build 5231 has IIS7.

On that build, there is just no obvious way for you to install it unless you
know the magic commandline incantation.

More recent builds have more functionality like a UI to install optional
components (like IIS7) and Unattend file section to install optional
components (like IIS7).

You probably want to contact Brett Hill or Chris Adams (see links from my
blog) to get more info. Now, your questions may come back around to me
internally, but I want to make sure that your relationship is built with the
right folks.
