Restarting IIS does not help as it shuts down the services again. I just installed Win server 2003 SP1 and SQL server 2000 and Reporting Services for SQL Server 2000. i have been done all accorting to this artical http://support.microsoft.com/?id=842493 and "Network Service" and "IWAM_MACHINE" are members of IIS_WPG group. NT AUTHORITY\Authenticated Users" and "NT AUTHORITY\Interactive" are part of the "Users" group.     - Enumerate all physical files and directories via C# Hey everyone, This is one of those questions that is probably so basic that nobody ever bother to write down an answer. How the heck am I suppose to enumerate the files and non-virtual directories in an IIS Web Site. Using C#, I am able to easily use DirectoryServices to get a list of sites and to enumerate all the VDIRs in a site, but I can't seem to figure out how I am suppose to get a list of all the physical files and directories in that site. Should I be using DirectoryServices, or System.Management or perhaps System.IO? I can't find the missing link. What confuses me even more is that when I use the IIS Resource Tool Metabase Browser, it doesn't show me the physical files either. Just the VDIRs :(. I have seen code samples that use DirectoryServices to get a DirectoryEntry, they then enumerate through the DE's children and test the "SchemaName" - for me though, my ROOT directory always has one (or two children) that are just VDIRS and those directories have no children.     - ODBC Drivers error '80004005' Hello, I am running IIS 6.0 on a windows 2003 server. I have an asp page that accessed a SQL server 2000 running on windows 2003 through DSN. Every once in a while the webpage becomes inaccessable and gives the following message: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005' [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB] General network error. Check your network documentation. /direct/dbConn.asp, line 34 Line 34 of the asp file contains the line: adoCon.Open "dsn=DatabaseConnect;uid=login;pwd=test" The webpage doesn't just comeback after a few minutes but instead stays inaccessible until the SQL Server is restarted.     - II6 & DreamWeaver 8 WebDav Access Hi: I'm currently migrating several websites from a Win2K IIS5 to Win2003 SP1 IIS6 server. I seem to have gotten most things working including WebDAV, but when I use DreamWeaver 8 (multiple use it to author against our site) we get one odd symptom. The symptom is that DreamWeaver cannot get or put a ASP file. You can create folders, delete folders, create HTML files but you cannot do anything with an ASP file.     - SSLv3.0 Questions Hi all, Is there a way for IIS 5.0 to enforce the client browser to use SSLv3.0 or higher when they try to access the website via SSL?     - HTTP Statuscode 400 (bad request) in IIS Log when executing webservice Hi, we are hosting a webservice that is used by numerous users and is running just fine. The Webservice is only used by our own application. When one specific user is executing the call, it is failing and in the logfiles there is a http status code 400 logged. The webserver is located in germany and almost all users are located in germany too. This user is located in spain and uses telefonica as provider with a static IP.     - Cloning IIS - Connections Accumulating Hi guys, I'm trying to clone an IIS server and thought I had managed it with IISExport however I've found that under real user load the site seems to gather anonymous user connections and never releases them. At the moment I'm unsure where to start. Does anything have any experiences in either cloning IIS configs or troubleshooting current anonymous users? I feel I need to be troubleshooting something inside IIS but I'm having problems figuring out how to get into it? Anyone used IISDiag tools with any success? I'm a web designer and most of my development experience has been on Apache servers, and most of that with remote hosts - I've never been a server admin by any stretch.     - IIS Newbie - 2 Websites - 1 server I'm trying to accomplish the following: 1 2003 Server hosting IIS. Two websites: Web1 is internal and is installed to the IIS Default Website Web2 is external and is configured as a second website The problem is this: If I browse to "http://www.aftersixcomputers.com" I get an HTTP Error 403 - Forbidden error But if I go to http://www.aftersixcomputers.com/photos/index.html the page loads properly.     - IIS Migration Hello, I have an ASP application calling a visual basic program which in turn calling a shell function to run a batch file. It was working under Win2000 with IIS. But it doesn't work on IIS running on Win2003. The error occurs when shell function is invoked within the visual basic program.     - Can not run multiple Web Services on Win2003 IIS 6.0 Hello, I've just been testing two applications that use WSE 2sp3 for exchanging SOAP messages. These applications can be run as either a Windows Service or a Web Service. The problem is encounter when I try run them both as web services under IIS 6.0 on the same Windows 2003 machine, I have them both working quite happily on a Windows XP machine with IIS 5.1. Both services are installed in the Default web site folder (C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\MyCompany) and have httpHandlers defined in their respective web.config files: For Service1: <httpHandlers> <add verb="*" path="*.ashx" type="MyCompany.Service1.Common.Service1Receiver, MyCompany.Service1.Common" /> </httpHandlers> For Service2: <httpHandlers> <add verb="*" path="*.ashx" type="MyCompany.Service2.Common.Service2Receiver, MyCompany.Service2.Common" /> </httpHandlers> Enabling the WSE 2.0sp3 tracing results in an Input and Output trace files being created for Service1, but only an output trace file is created for Service2. So messages are not getting to the httpHandler for Service2, when both services are installed! If I then uninstall Service1 and just run Service2, Service2 works fine. I tried enabling all IIS 6.0 Web service extenstions to no avail. I've run out of ideas of what to try next. I'm hoping someone with a more experience using IIS might be able to help.     - Accessing network Access DB from web service from a Web Service, I'm trying to access to and Access database located in a network path. I can't do that.     - how to run a web application from remote IIS server? I have a old server(win2003, IIS6.0) which run a couple of web applications, it is our web server now. recently I bought a new dell server which is running win2003 with IIS6.0. I want to migrate all web applications to the new one, but it has not been setup as our web server now. I want to keep the web applications in the old server for a mement, at the same time i would like to run a web application which resides on the dell server from the old server. I'm think perhaps i have to set up a new virtual server or a virtual direcotry in the old server and point it to the new dell server.     - No hair left to pull out.... Hi, first off, everyone has been great on helping me with this issue, thank you. And I apologize for missing to reply to my last post from a bit ago now. Unfortunately I can't seem to get it down. Since my last post was unanswered by me due to new problems arising, I will re-explain. I am running windows server 2003. I have IIS 6 installed, ASP.NET, all others are allowed and running, like webdav, server side, etc...I have been slaving for almost two weeks now trying to show my web page over the internet. I do have a Linksys 4 port router which I tried to set the appropriate ports and address in forwarding. Still not sure I accomplished this task appropriately. I can't find a certain port to use so for "eg .... webserver .... ex 165 to 165 .... tcp enable \ udp enable....192.168.1.#$ ....enable" Also for the properties under tcp\ip.... IP address: 192.168.1.@@ subnet mask: 255.255.$$$$ default gateway: 192.168.1.1 preferred dns: 192.168.1.@@ (same as IP) alternate dns: ______________(blank) for my web page, ...right click, properties IP address , (same as above) TCP port : 165 My permissions are : everyone"read" users: read\write admin etc...are all. I can view the page from my server or my networked computers, but not over the internet. I have tried and tried and can't seem to allow this publicly. I do believe that by me setting the IP address, that it is now static IP, correct? The ports are a bit confusing but assumed any unused port between the number of ports accessible could be assigned. I have only been at server 2003 for 3 weeks on and off now, mostly trying to configure this web site. The only thing that I can figure is my port settings and ip are wrong or some security issue with IIS or something is simply blocking me. My router does use NAT which according to thier help was easy to configure, except they left out how to configure the ports.     - Problem with large downloads using IIS 6.0 and SSRS 2000 While downloading large content (> 15 MB on one server and >20MB on another server) from SQL Server 2000 Reporting Services' Report Manager, IE clients get a "The server has reset the connection" during the download process. I've tried adjusting AspBufferingLimit, tried turning Buffering off, tried adjusting MinFileBytesPerSec, set large connection timeouts, checked the values of AppPool recycle intervals etc. but in vain.     - [Urgent] SBS 2k3 missing Default Web Site Does anybody know how to re-create the Default Web Site, I've found articles on how to reset the default virtual directories for OWA but nothing else. Can anyone say "hosed" HELP. Not sure what happen, OWA stopped working, went to IIS to have a look and the site was gone, files are still in the wwwroot.     - W2K3+Sp1: All requests return 404 My testing server has W2K3 installed and a copy of my websites. When I installed SP1 on it all the websites stopped serving pages. I have confirmed through IIS manager that the sites are pointing to the correct directories on the hard drive. When I try to access anything via IIS, an entry is created in the IIS Logfile for the request with a 404 status code and then said 404 error is returned to the client. I tried creating a new site on the same box and the same thing happens. I'm completely confused.     - Extended Logging Broken I've got an odd problem with the IIS 5.1 service running from my WindowsXP Pro workstation. I am unable to turn on extended logging. When I click into the IIS Administrator snap-in from the Administrative Tools folder, I can check the option for extended logging and can turn on and off the sub options - But when I apply those changes and close the dialog, the extended logging option shows unchecked when I reopen. I recently wiped out the machine and reinstalled the O/S fresh to clean up the clutter - This wasn't a problem prior to that.     - 403.1 Frobidden: Execute access is denied I am consolidating our old intranet and internet boxes to one new box. I have a Windows 2003 Sp1 server with IIS6 that hosts our intranet using a virtual directory and host header working fine. Now I want to set up the internet site on the same box. I have added a new IP address to the NIC, assigned that IP to the virtual directory for the new site along with the host header. The domain is registered with DNS servers I have set persmission the same as the old server but get Error 403.1 when I try to connect to the site. I know that I am getting past the firewall and the IP and host header are working cause I made a minor edit to the 403.1 error page and I can see the edit. For the internet virutal directory I have on the Home Directory tab Read checked and execute permissions set to Scripts only ( I am using SSI ) and on the Configurateion tab .shtml is mapped to C:\WINDOWS\system32\inetsrv\ssinc.dll with Get and Post.     - IIS6 Multiprocessor ASP MS Access ADO - Slow, hangs, timeouts There are a lot of newsgroup articles that refer to a bunch of different scenarios related to problems with running MS Access ADO ASP pages in IIS6 on a multiprocessor machine... and I seem to have every single problem. There were bugs with multiprocessors; bugs with Jet and IIS6; and some articles claim that everything is "fixed". I am still pulling my hair out. I thought moving to Windows 2003 would be the way to go. I mean, all I had was a simple ASP webpage. This decision has been nothing but headaches. When I have multiprocessors in my server, my ADO ASP pages almost never load. When I remove the second processor, the pages will load in under a second a few times, and then start to not load again. So, I have fixed this by setting my App. Pool's "recycle worker processes" setting to be a very low time (2 minutes). But this is still unacceptable. As evidence from the newsgroups, these problems have existed in many forms for a long time. It is difficult to figure out a true status of these issues. Does anyone know when these bugs will be fixed? Or, do I still have to call for a non-public released hotfix from Microsoft to fix these issues? -rs Tag: Page not displayed Tag: 378576

    - w3wp.exe shows high CPU usage while waiting for PHP function to return I'm currently helping with a debug of an issue we've uncovered with one of our web apps. Our test environment uses Windows 2003 Server with IIS 6 and PHP 5.1.2. Part of the web app simply uses PHP to pull data from a local database when clicking on certain links. One link within the app, however, instructs PHP to communicate with a remote server and return data from it. With the local links, it runs fairly quickly and w3wp.exe shows normal use. However, when clicking on the link that has to fetch data from a remote server, w3wp.exe jumps up to 99% CPU utilization for anywhere from 7 to 20 seconds, until it returns the data.     - FTP FOLDER ERROR -OPERATION TIMED OUT (ON XP MACHINE ) I setup an ftp site on a client machine with windows xp pro. The machine has two nics, one for internal access and one with a static ip pointing to the dmz zone between our server and firewall. I set up the ftp site and assigned the external nic's ip as the ftp site address. An outside company controls our firewall, so we had them point an assigned ip address to the external nic card and open port 21. The client pc has sp2, so we enabled ftp on the windows firewall. Internally, we can access it using the extenal nic ip address and the assigned ip address. However outside of the company, we get the following error message: "Windows cannot access this folder. Make sure you have the file name typed correctly and that you have permission to accesss the folder. Details: The operation timed out" Any suggestions as to why this is happening?     - DNS settings on IIS box (for SMTP server) Hi; This is a bit off-topic but I am hoping someone here can help. We have a new web server we are configuring that sits outside our firewall. On it we have the IIS SMTP server to send email for our apps running on the web server, both ASP.NET and java (java using Tomcat). When mail is addressed to someone else - it goes fine. But when the mail is to someone in our domain, it just sits in the SMTP server queue. I am guessing it is a problem with DNS somehow. The web server is also our external DNS server. At present both the old and new DNS/web servers are running - but both have the same MX record pointing to our SBS box running Exchange. Any ideas why this is not working? The old dns/web is jasmine.windward.net and the new one is simba.windward.net.     - Perl File Hello! I have a website running on IIS 6.0. The website points to some perl files for submissions. The perl files are located in cgi-bin directory. Here is the problem. When I click on request button, the browser tells me file not found. I enable directory browsing and when I open the cgi-bin folder I can see the file. When I click on the file, the error is also the same, "File not found". I installed ActivePerl 5.8 and still no help. The file is just not being excuted. What am I doing wrong?     - IIS seems to have forgotten what the British/en-GB date format is! Hi, Dates in my web applications (both classic ASP and ASP.NET) refuse to display in British format. All regional settings on my PC are set to British, as is the LCID (= 2057). All Windows apps and the OS display the date correctly. After searching for any other settings, I came across the IIS Metabase key LM/W3SVC/AspLCID which had a value of 2048, so I changed it to 2057, and this seems to have fixed classic ASP, but has not had an effect on ASP.NET. Interestingly enough, if I set ASP.NET pages to a different culture, then it correctly uses the date format for that particular country. It's only when I use en-GB that it ignores the setting and displays the date in American format. It's as if IIS has forgotten what the British standard is! As a temporary fix, I'm using en-IE, which has the same date format as Britain, but I really need to find out why IIS is not reading the system default format, nor implementing the British format when I explicitly set it. I'd appreciate it if somebody could point me in the right direction.     - WEB Services don't respond From time to time we don't get any response from IIS on our 'stand alone' Win2003 Web Server, which is running WEB services. On the file tab chose "a redirection to a URL", entered /article.aspx?id=10 as the URL and checked the box that says "a permanent redirection". I then used the browser to see if it worked and indeed the redirection worked.     - w3wp.exe persisting the connection to Oracle database Hi, We have a web service running on a Windows 2003 server and IIS6. It uses Oracle database which is in another machine. resently, we started getting an error: ORA-00020: maximum number of processes (%s) exceeded. when the DBA checked the database server, it was found that the connections are initiated by w3wp.exe which is IIS connection pool. In our application, we are explicitly closing the connections. But, the connections remains open for as long as 30 min. Is there some specific settings in IIS.     - Application pool Crash intermittently when using unique users I'm running IIS 6.0 with unique users for each site and application pool. Every site is configured with a seperate pool to retain stability. Note: I have this same configuration running on another server with no problem. So there is obviously something different regarding my new server, however I'm out of ideas. I've compared both machines and they appear to be configured identically. Each "IUSR" account is apart of the IIS_WPG group, to allow application pool startup. They are also apart of a group "IIS_USERS", which I created. The "IIS_USERS" group has been assigned access to the following local security rights (Some rights are to allow cgi launch rights): Access this computer from the network Adjust memory quotas for a process Allow log on locally Impersonate a client after authentication Log on as a batch job Log on as a service Replace a process level token And as I've stated this normally works to allow a site to launch the worker process, process html, cgi, asp and asp.net. However on this particular machine it works on and off. Sometimes a site will launch a cgi process (hosted by perl.exe), asp, or asp.net page with no problem. Other times, the same site, stalls and I recieve the following event repeatedly in the System event log: Type: Warning Source: W3SVC Event ID: 1009 Description: A process serving application pool 'appnamehere' terminated unexpectedly. When I try to access OWA from any browser I receive Page Not Displayed. We
have the following setup:
Exchange 2003
Server 2003 SP1
.Net Framework 1.1 with 2.0 installed but using 1.1 for OWA
OWA has not worked since we migrated from 2000 to 2003. I have tried
uninstalling IIS and Exchange but it does not fix this problem. When I
browse to owalogon.asp through IIS Mgr and choose owalogon.asp to browse I
still receive the page not displayed error so I know that it is not an error
that appears just from the outside.. It' s as if I don't have the
correct permissions but I have checked them numerous times. To check
permissions I even added the IUSR to the Domain Admins Group but stil receive
this error.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Can you bring up a test asp page? Have you checked to see if Active Server
Pages is set to Allow in the Web Service Extensions in the IIS MMC?

Yes and yes. IIS will not bring up an ASP page. ASP is set to allow in web
service extensions. In addition to not bringing up ASP pages through IIS
Mgr., if I access OWA remotely with URL http://www.domain.com/exchange and
login I get Exchange to display but it displays in FTP directory style
instead of graphical.

I have uninstalled IIS and Exchange but it has not helped.
