Moving from IIS5 to a new IIS6 server

Hello all,

I have a server running Win2k/IIS5 with hundreds of sites.
Is there a simply way of migrating the sites to a new Win2k3/IIS6 server?

The IIS 6.0 Migration Tool would simply be a nightmare to use.

I know you can export in 5 using metaedit, but how can you get it in 6?

Other than the migration tool:

a) Upgrade existing IIS 5.0 machine to IIS 6.0, and export the relevant
sections of the metabase to xml, and then import

b) Upgrade existing IIS 5.0 machine to IIS 6.0 and do a backup (make sure
you specify your own password). Take backup to new machine, stop IISAdmin
service, use iisback.vbs script to restore the backup to the new server.

c) Use adsutil.vbs in a batchfile to dump the keys you want out of the IIS
5.0 box. Use adsutil.vbs on the IIS 6.0 box to put the keys back in.

None of these options move your data however - you'd need to copy that
manually...

You can try my DomainReportIt PRO tool. It will move your sites. Not the=
data. I use Peersync Software to move the data. Peersync will move the=
permissions as well.
