    - iis log files not being written On IIS6 WS03 , what could causes temporary inability of iis to write to its log files ? Could memory or cpu load cause such an occurrence ?     - Post ASP page as static HTML Hello everyone! I am working on a website where the initial ASP (classic) page request is very high (50,000 per hour) - and is dynamically generated on every request - as there is the usuall stuff in there Server,CreateObject, etc it is creating a big overhead on the server - but i've seen quite a few sites now where the initial page is HTML, and has obviously been generated as a "blanket" page...     - Impersonation not working... Hi all, Hopefully someone will be able to help with this issue. I have an ASP.Net application that is trying to extract frames from .avi and .wmv files to create thumbnails. The media files are out on a server and the .avi files work when I set the filename property of the MediaDet object but when I try to do that with the .wmv file I get an error thrown at me. The files all sit in the same directory and are processed in the same loop of code. I'm using impersonation and the Windows Identity shows that the impersonated user is being used before the code tries to set the filename property. I decided to Audit the directory on the server and also check the windows Identity before the setting of the filename property on the MediaDet object.     - Viewing images on different server For some reason, I cannot see images from my internet web site. I have the images in a virtual directory and located on a different server on our domain in a shared folder. When I view them from my workstation in the office, they show up fine. If I connect via a VPN I only get the red X on the images and not the picture. What do I need to do? Thanks. p.s.     - IIS custom errors stop working after adding web.config We have an IIS 6.0 server running mostly classic ASP applications and use custom errors configured in IIS manager. However, recently we added a few ASP.NET applications to the server and use a web.config file at the root of the site for all of the .NET inherit their connections strings. After adding these .NET applications, the custom error pages for classic ASP apps no longer work. I know that you can configure a web.config with tags for custom errors but does that, by default, override the custom errors configured in IIS. We have a website maintained by My@VO within IIS. If I type the name of the website at internet explorer all things are correct. But if I type localhost or http://127.0.0.1 then I get HTTP 400 Bad Request Error.     - Problem uploading big files with IIS 6.0 Hi we have a Dell W2K3 R2 Web Edition with 2 Gb of RAM. we have problems when trying to upload big files to server, the bigest file we could upload was around 50 Mb and we need to upload bigger ones. We have tried with several components, like aspsmartupload. Our Metabase settings are AspMaxRequestEntityAllowed 1073741824 AspQueueTimeout 4294967295 (unlimited) AspBufferingOn set 1 Script timeout is set to 900 seconds but it crash before that. It seems to be similar to "FIX: The Response.BinaryWrite method fails when you use it to send files that are larger than 20 MB" (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;826756) but our ASP.dll version is newer.     - Where did right-click/Properties go on IIS 7 virtual directory? Here's a question from a non-techie using the UI for Web site setup. I need to set Script Source Access, Read, Log Visits, and Index this Resource and these were on right-click/Properties > Home Directory tab of the virtual directory in IIS 6. There is no Properties there in IIS 7. I expected to find them somewhere in the middle panel but have not come up with the location.     - Multiple interfaces for redundancy I want to set up IIS 5 on a T1 and DSL line for redundancy. I have done the following configuration which seems to work. The IIS 5 (Windows 2000) server has 2 network interfaces. One interface is plugged into a switch which goes into the router which is on the T1 side, the other interface is plugged into a switch which goes into the DSL side. Each interface is assigned 2 IP addresses. The T1 connected interface has 10.0.0.101 and 10.0.0.102 as it uses NAT. These IPs are NAT'd by the router to our public IP addresses. The DSL side interface is directly assigned 2 public IP addresses (ie. 1.2.3.4 and 1.2.3.5). In IIS configuration, we have 2 websites, the first is bound to 10.0.0.101 and 1.2.3.4 and assigned the host header name of websiteone.ourdomain.com. The second website is bound to 10.0.0.102 and 1.2.3.5 assigned the host header name of websitetwo.ourdomain.com. Both of these websites also run SSL so that is set up as well, this is the reason why I do not have them on the same IP. DNS is configured round-robin, to sometimes give one IP and sometimes give the other IP for each of the websites. All of this seems to work, but I am wondering if there is a better way to set it up. We have recently purchased a new web server which runs Windows 2003 with IIS 6, and I would like to set it up so that it is also load balancing/redundant.     - HELP - Limit connections per IP in IIS6 We are running a large website on Server 2k3 and IIS6 and we are having a huge problem. We have some users that are browsing our site from behind what appears to be a proxy server and when they visit the index page of the site (which has over 100 inside links) the proxy server attemps to open a connection to each and every link at the same time (from the same IP address) Is there a way in IIS that anyone knows of to limit how many simultaneous connections can be allowed per IP address We already set the connection timeout to 15 seconds and max 150 connections in the website properties.     - digest authentication on virtual (networked) directories I'm using digest authentication for access to our intranet and it's working perfectly when the directories are local to the webserver. If I add a virtual directory that points to a directory on another machine (\\server\share\directory etc.), digest authentication no longer works... ...unless I add NETWORK to the directory's ACL list... but when I do that any user with a valid AD account can log on to the directory and the share level ACLs no longer have any effect... If I don't have NETWORK in the ACL list, I get a prompt for authentication 3 times, then a "you are not authorized... etc." error message. Looking through the Security Event log on the web server give me three entries saying the my logon request was successfull, but it seems to be falling over between webserver and network share.     - "Use HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections" I've some customers that cannot connect to my corporate IIS if the have the IE7 option "Use HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections" enabled (as it's as default). If they leave it checked, they see only a blank page. If they uncheck it, they see the web site. I cannot understand if I have some trouble with IIS or other. It seems it started after I applied SP2.     - Can't redirect 400 Bad Request in IIS6 Hi - I'm having a problem with IIS 6 on Windows 2003 Server. Here's the basics There's an application that has an URL http://domain/oneparticulardirectory/# embedded in it. The user uses the application, it requests the URL and gets a 400 Bad Request response from IIS. Make sense as requesting # isn't allowed. Problem is I can't change the URL in the application so I need to rewrite the GET request on the fly to something sensible like http://domain/oneparticulardirectory/ or http://domain/oneparticulardirectory/somefile.html This is what I've done so far - Tried using Custom Errors in the IIS Admin mmc snapon but found that IIS deals with 400's at a kernel level so that can't be used (what's the point of having custom error pages to deal with 400 Bad Requests in the IIS control panel if the errors never get that far up the stack to be dealt with by them?) - Tried using ISAPI filters (IISRewrite and Ionic's Isapi Rewrite Filter) to rewrite the URLS. Both do the exact job I want them to do with IIS 5 and both rewrite a variety of other types of requests perfectly with IIS 6, but neither will rewrite 400 Bad Requests on IIS 6. I read somewhere that IIS 6 doesn't allow manipulation of "Raw Read Data" via ISAPI filters anymore - Tried running IIS 6 in IIS 5 protected mode to see if it will behave like IIS 5 and allow the ISAPI filters to rewrite the 400's but it does the same thing as it does in normal IIS 6 mode I'm stumped.     - Can't remove IIS 6 IIS 6 is installed and running on our SBS2003 server, but I need to remove it and reinstall it to solve a different problem.     - Hosting a web site while using a different DNS mangt co Hi guys, I have a friend that has a web site being developed by a web hosting company and they are telling him that because they are hosting his web site they also have to manage his DNS records. His domain is registered with NetSol so he is using their DNS servers. He has the www.... enrty pointing to the IP that the web hosting company gave him for his web server. It resolves to the home page, and other links on the site, but sometimes the links will go back to NetSol as that is the default failover. Can someone help me with this? I've tried everything. I have Windows Vista Business. My first thought was to add my current login user to Debugger Users group, I did that, but to no avail...i tried to add my IP http://192.168.15.101 to my trusted sites, with no luck. I played with VS .NET configuration settings to enable ASP .NET debugging. Even tried it with enabling remote debugging (since i figured maybe it wasnt able to figure out the differnce between local host and 192.168.15.101) I tried resetting my intranet and my internet default settings. I'm using .NET 1.1, so I checked my bindings for both my website as well as the virtual directory inside it. I tried giving the isapi.dll read/ scripts/execute permissions! i tried rebooting! :-P, oh and I tried changing my IP to localhost (127.0.0.1) in IIS, and then my error message changed to this ------ Error while trying to run project: Unable to start debugging on the web server. You do not have permissions to debug the server. ------- I also tried to change my folder permissions, I added every user I could think of on that folder and gave it full access. I can run web applications using ASP.NET against the individual Host Servers but not the NLB Cluster (Virtual Server).     - CANNOT CONNECT TO IIS 6.0 Trying to simply connect to an IIS 6.0 web site that I believe I set up correctly for WebDAV sharing with a publishing tool. I created a virtual specifically for web editing and granted permissions accordingly on the web server. I try to connect from Expressions Web, get prompted for security, it accepts my username and password and I get the directory listing on the live site. When I try to open a page for editing I get a long delay and then I get an HTTP 1.1/403 Forbidden error. Sometimes I get an Internal Server Error...what gives?     - IIS in an AD as a member server and extending FrontPage I need to find out if this is possible. I have an Windows 2003 AD environment with two member servers (W2003 WSE) that server out public and private websites. I need to extend sites on one of the member servers for FrontPage. This function works and the site shows as extended and manageable through IIS manager. I create a user account on either the local server as a local account, OR as a domain user in AD and make them members of the OWS group (a local group on the member server - created when the site is extended) and neither will authenticate through FrontPage.     - Missing tracelog after exceptions Hi, I am running a ASP.NET 2.0 web service under IIS 6 and Windows Server 2003 64Bit. Usually when an exception is raised during a request processing there is an error message in the tracelog (trace.axd). In my case, all requests that raise an exception are not listed in the tracelog. First of all I thought of a deadlock or a never ending timeout but after some tests I found out that even divisions by zero terminate the page processing on serverside. After the exception the asp.net worker process stops working (0% in task manager), no tracelog entry is made and the browser is still waiting for a response. Do you have any ideas how to handle this?
