    - IIS 5.0 FTP Error 426 Hello there, I recently installed a FTP Server under Windows 2000 Advanced Server (IIS 5). I have also created a site, set the appropriate permissions on the necessary files(a little bit too tighten, but...). Before, there was another IIS FTP Server, on an NT 4.0 Server which worked fine, no errors at the transfer. There is no firewall or nat between the server and client. The client is an unix system. The client is in Passive Mode. Connecting it with the FTP server, sometimes the file transfer below can be accomplished, but sometimes i get the 426 Error. This behaviour seems to be random. When i get this error, the file is created, but the size is 0. I have here one sample of an entry in the IIS time c-ip cs-username cs-method cs-uri-stem cs-uri-query sc-status sc-win32-status sc-bytes cs-bytes 21:04:18 10.197.2.186 ftpdsprod [186]created file.dat - 426 995 0 0 426 Connection closed; transfer aborted. 995 The I/O operation has been aborted because of either a thread exit or an application request. when the client is used in Active Mode, there's an error (client side) every time: 500 Invalid PORT Command. i am not able to get the exact PORT command used by the Client.     - IIS and SUS Problem Installed a new server (Hardware upgrade) that replaced a server that was a Domain Controller(thru dcpromo), that was running SUS, installed SUS on the new W2K server that is a Domain Controller with the same Name and IP address, also is a DNS server (just like the previous one). The Browser display just says "The Page cannot be displayed" HTTP 500 Internal Server error - interner explorer. It states Server Application Error, The server encountered an error while loading an application during the processing of your request. Event System Log = Warning Event ID 36 The server failed to load application '/LM/W32VC/1/ROOT/SUSAdmin. the error was "No such interface supported" I have uninstalled and re-installed, even ran Repair option, still no luck.     - Problem with forms going form 2000AS to 2003 Hi, I am managing a website. We used to run Windows 2003AS, and all of our forms worked great. Then, someone installed 2003 Server on our server. Now, none of the forms work, and we cannot get any .asp applications to run either. We have tried messing with the smtp servers and stuff like that.     - Problem Configuring Custom Error Pages Hello, I have a folder under the Default Web Site called BRNBackup (which I use as a testing site locally). Anyway, on the folder properties, under Custom Error Pages, I changed error 404 to URL and the URL to /404.asp. For some reason, when I test the site in IE and enter an invalid address, it does not go to the custom page I entered. What can possibly be wrong? Does it have to be a Virtual Folder or a New Site?     - IIS5 WWW based 'Windows Explorer' I'm looking for a Windows Explorer type of interface for my IIS5 Win2k Srv. setup to allow a AD group acct. access to files if/when the FTP side is down. Up/download, delete, moving, rename (all based on NTFS permissions). Current setup on the local drive: <Virtual Folder> - Files folder (read/browse everyone) - Upload folder (full access for group, read/browse everyone) I am currently testing out Fileman (IISWorks.com) that fits the bill but is a little more overhead that I was hoping for.     - Unable to manage remote IIS servers from MMC Recently I've been unable to manage IIS from mmc (right click My Computer and select manage) for remote machines only. I can connect to the remote machine and view event logs and other data but on clicking the services and applications node I'm informed "Error connecting to brk-web-svr-002. Unexpected error 0x8007011c. Do you wish to attempt to connect in future?" and given the choices yes or no. I can then access all services but the IIS section does not appear. This occurs for all remote machines although I can manage my local IIS service and manage the servers from other machines. It used to work a few weeks back but I regularly do windows update so that may have broken it. The servers are all on the company domain as am I, either lan or wan. I can ping them, view them in Network Neighborhood and use shares on them. I can VNC onto them which is what I'm having to do at the moment. I'm a member of Domain Admins.     - My web site not responding to outside users Other computers cannot get to my web site - message is web site not responding. I've done the following 1. Created a simple web in Front Page 200 2. Installed IIS 5.1 under XP Pr 3. Created virtual directory in IIS pointed to my web, set it as the default, recalculated we 4. Got dynamic DNS cove3.no-ip.info from no-ip.co 5. Disconnected my router to remove it as a source of the proble 6. Tried both Port 80 and 8080 setting for my web to see if Cablevision was blocking Port 8 7.     - virtual-IIS failover for an upgraded 2003 cluster I'm upgrading a test cluster environment to MS Windows 2003 successfully except for 2 components. Node B in the cluster is taken down and the all the services failed over to the other node except for IIS and Oracle Failsafe. I have some idea about Oracle but, dont know why IIS will not fail over?     - Authentication & access control Every couple of hours, the authentication and access controls for the exchange OWA component (Exchange 2003) changes from basic to integrated windows authentication. I have repeatedly changed it back and later found it switched back. Is this a known IIS glitch?     - ASP Cache - File server Hello! Im trying to install a file server, x numbers of webservers will work to that. This works perfect - once! After that I have to enter a username/password to be able to read asp-files. There are no problems with reading images and .html-files (Not included in ISAPI-cache?) If I disable the cache function then everything works perfect, but I suppose this will affect the performance alot so that is not what I want...     - File download with IIS6.0 Hi there, I'm having trouble with my first IIS6.0 on Windows Server 2003. The web site works fine: all ASP pages are processed and displayed normally. The problem is we are not able to download any files from the site (pdf, zip, doc, ...) When you click on a link pointing to one of these files (or if you write the file's absolute URL in the address bar of IE) you get the normal Open or Save as dialog. Whichever option you choose, the next window is an error message stating that the file cannot be downloaded. The strange part is that everything else is working fine, it is file download what fails, exclusively. Is this something that needs to be enabled in IIS6.0? Do you know anything about this issue?     - Problems with IIS Hi all I'm using IIS 5.1 on XP with Visual Studio 7.1. I debugged all my apps till yesterday without problems. After shutting my machine down and restarting it now I'm unable to debug any of my apps Error while trying to run project: Unable to start dbugging on the webserver. You do not have permissions to debug the server. Verify that you are a member of the 'Debugger Users' group on the server Looking into the IIS console surprised me a little bit: Each application lost it's application name but the Remove button was there! So I removed the 'hidden' name and created it again. But this didn't solve anything. I also tried to start a complete new application - same error Me logon accout MYNAME is member of the group DEBUGGER USERS. I als thing I didn't remove any right for accounts on my machine Starting without debugging works fine! How can I solve this issue - it's really frustrating!!     - IE won't get page with no form data I realize this might not be the correct group, but then perhaps the solution may exist in an IIS setting. I've a an .ASP page that has a form that actions back to itself. When I get to the end of the sequence of tasks necessary, I want to be able to go back to the "virgin" state. When IE6 (and maybe other versions and brands of browsers) has the page's URL resent to the server, it's as if all the form variables are still attached - which they probably are. Only by clicking the Back button (or the Back Dropdown list) can I get back to the "virgin" state - the state that has no form data attached to the HTTP request.     - cgi file uploading hi. has anyone else discovered any problems with uploading files via HTTP? i'm running a CGI script on IIS 5.1 which accepts the form data from a simple HTML page. The form contains a variety of controls, including a file control. The form action is set to post, and the encoding type is "multipart/form-data". The CGI script essentially echos the input data. That the script handles the "multipart/form-data" format alright and the data looks like all the documentation i've seen about "multipart/form-data"; however, the uploaded file is strangely absent from this data. The tsweb-app is installed on a different Windows-2003 server, so 2 servers are involved. I manage to make a Terminal-client connection on our company-lan. I can make a terminal-client explorer connection on our company-lan. I even can make an SSL-secure connection from my home to our company bij typing https://companydomain/tsweb But after typing the Terminal-server name or ip on screen, there's no response. I have read all documentation for troubleshooting web publishing and still no go when connecting externally. Is this an TSAC IIS issue or an ISA server issue as ISA is running on the server connected to the net.     - Switching domain to different site I've got several sites set up in IIS. I created a new site in order to test a replacement for my default web site. Once I had tested. I changed the IP of the default to another address and the IP of the test to the live IP. after doing this the new site would not come up. Switched back and the old wouldn't come up either. I get "Page cannot be displayed" for both. The only thing that's different from the other sites that I have on this server is that the domain name is my Windows AD domain. Any ideas?     - .htm page spouts false Read Only message Hey there, Migrated an IIS 5 on Windows 2000 site to IIS 6 on 2003 Web Edition server. Everything is working great, EXCEPT: Have a UNC share mapped to a share inside the intranet which is part of the main site, not a separate site. They simply (used to) open the share, and using their Modify NTFS permissions on the .htm file, save a word doc AS a web page and updated the page. Now after the migration, I had to reinstate their NTFS permissions. Did it, on the share, on the file. When they go to 'save as' the doc as a web page and replace the existing .htm page, Word XP spouts a 'This file is Read Only' message and rejects the save. Does the user now need access permissions in IIS 6 to the subdirectory in order to change the web page? Didn't used to in IIS 5.0, 2000. The file is NOT read only. Definitely not. They have all the NTFS they should need to save over the file. I can only think that with the increased security in 6 and 2003, that now they need access as an Author to change the page, or some other kind of access that wasn't needed with the past OS and IIS 5.     - Change default URL from http://"computername" to http://FQDN I have IIS 5.0 running on Windows 2000 Server but I noticed when I use the web based FrontPage Server Extensions 2002 Site Administration it shows "Site Administration for "http://web" where web is the name of the PC and the URL at the top of the browser shows http://web/_vti_bin/... Where do I change the default URL to be my full qualified domain? The default web page seems to be working. If I type http://"mydomain.com" it brings up my default page that's on the server but if I enter http://"mydomain.com":2099 I get redirected to http://web:2099 I checked all the tabs in the IIS management console on the server but didn't find a place where I could enter a default URL for the server rather that it using the computer name. I'm trying to create a subweb called unite but in the web based administration page after I clicked on my website and created the subweb it is showing it's URL as http://web/unite instead of it's FQDN. When I uploaded a website using FrontPage and made a few changes I tried to use the Recalculate the Web feature under Server Health in the web based administration page it changed some of my links to http://web/unite/... from the FQDN version I had used. Basically after having tried several other methods I have put a .htm file in the root of a site and have set this as the default document. Then I set the file to re-direct to another url, and ensure that the client is sent to the exact URL.     - IIS 5.0 Install Path Hello all, I am trying to use the IIS migration tool from the resource kit to import IIS websites from NT 4.0 to Win2k (IIS5.0). every time I attempt a test import it creates a complete path from the source machine to the target machine. One reason maybe because the source path is E:\Inetpub\wwwroot\ISWEB. I tried to create this structure and it still migrates to c:\Inetpub\wwwroot\<source server name>\inetpub\wwwroot\ISWEB. I want to try and change the default installation path of IIS on the Win2k machine to match the source and that may help. But since I am adding IIS as a windows component, i do not receive an option to change the installation path. Any ideas on how to modify the path? Do i have to do it post install? The problem is that Crystal Enterprise 8 does not support Windows 2003 Server. The Crystal Enterprise instal on the 2000 box works fine with IIS in-hosue.     - IIS 6.0 problems We've recently started porting our web service application to IIS 6.0. To minimize the behavior changes, we've put it into its own application pool, which never creates replicates. Also, since the application maintains intenral state, we don't want the pool process recycled, so we've turned off automatic recylcing and pinging for this pool. At low load levels, it all works fine. But when we raise the load, before too long these things happen: 1. The application stops responding. Further request to comminucate with it hang. 2. The CPU utilization on the machine goes to 0. 3. The following appears in the application log: Source: W3SVC-WP Category: None Type: Warning Event ID: 2262 ISAPI 'C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\aspnet_isapi.dll' reported itself as unhealthy for the following reason: 'Deadlock detected'. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. There is no description of this error at that location. I don't think there's any actual deadlock, since the same application works fine in IIS 5.0. (All this version of it does is route messages between web services on different machines.) Rather, I suspect that at high load, latency or request queue sizes get large enough that ASP.NET considers the application to be broken. A few questions, then: 1. What parameters is ASP.NET using to decide that the application is unhealthy? In IIS 5.0, I'd look into things like responseRestartDeadlockInterval and responseDeadlockInterval, but the IIS machine.config says: When ASP.NET is running under IIS 6 in native mode, the IIS 6 process model is used and settings in this section are ignored. Please use the IIS administrative UI to configure things like process identity and cycling for the IIS worker process for the desired application I can't find anything in the IIS administrative UI that seems related, though. 2. The behavior seems odd to me. In IIS 5.0, when the worker process seemed unhealthy, ASP.NET killed it and started a new one.
