I have not been able to view any of my sites on my local machine. When
trying to I simply get blank browser pages. I am using IIS5.1 on Windows
XP Professional. When selecting Administrative Tools -> Internet
Information Services I notice a red stop sign that says Error beside the
icon for Default Web Site. To the left of the icon it says "(Stopped)". If
I try to start I get the message: Unexpected error 0x8ffe270 occurred.
The entry in the Event Viewer -> System says:
Type:Error Date: 24/08/2003 Time:7:08:43 Source:WS3VC Category:None
Event:115 user:N/A Computer:Worx
I tried to look to see if something else on my machine is using port 443
(the SSL port) but did not find anything.
I then decided to create another user on my machine with full Administrator
privileges. This user was able to start the Default Web Site and
subsequently view the sites that exist on the machine. When I logout the
new user and come back in as the Administrator I. too, can view the sites.
However, if I reboot and then come back in as the Administrator I encounter
the same problem all over again.
Any suggestions
