I am running IIS 6 on Server2003 with Sharepoint installed as well. What is
happening is that I can go to our internal site via a shortname and my
network credentials are passed via NTLM. But if I enter in the FQDN of the
address I am prompted for network credentials. How do I get around this so
users do not have to enter in credentials?

Example:

http://intranet works fine
http://intranet.mycompany.com prompted for credentials

both resolve to the same website. How do I get the bottom one to not ask
for credentials?

Thanks

This is an IE issue. You need to add the FQDN to your Intranet list.

Tom, that worked great for me. But will all users need to make this change
on an individual basis to avoid this issue?

The change has to be applied on the client. If the end-users need to do
that manually, or if you can control all your clients from a central
location depends on your situation. If you have an AD domain you can
probably control this via a policy.
