I haven't had to reboot the server for installing any version of .Net
Framework (which includes ASP.NET), so I can say that it does NOT
necessitate a reboot post-installation.
However, if files needing to be updated/installed were locked somehow on
your machine (such as it was in use), then you can expect a reboot of some
sort is necessary to have the update happen.
So, I would prep your system to minimize the chances of that happening.
Temporarily disengage server-security scanners/products that may interfere
with installation, minimize the number of processes/applications active on
the machine, and do the installation during off-peak times, and you should
be fine.
