I recently downloaded IIS 4.0 off of the Microsoft website
for my Windows NT Exchange Server 5.5. When I try to run
the install.exe file like I am told to do, it works just
fine. But when it gets to the setup part of installing,
it comes with multiple errors like cannot copy one or more
files, or the mmcndmgr.dll file cannot be registered or
modified. Has anyone ever reinstalled IIS 4.0 and got it
to work successfully. I'm having serious trouble with
this.

Alwasy worked fine for me. I'd tell you I never got any of those
errors, but I have no clue what errors you're getting.

If your error messages are the following;

Unable to complete the registration of C:\WINNT\System32\mmcndmgr.dll due
to an unknown error. Error code = 0x800401f0

and

Setup of "Microsoft Management Console" failed. The specific error code is
0x783dd88. Setup will continue but component may not function properly.

Then try the following

Rename mmcndmgr.dll and mmc.exe
Install MMC 1.2

Installing NT 4.0 Option pack (NTOP)
Apply NT4sp6a and reboot
Apply NT4 SRP and latest IIS SRP (Q29944 and Q301625) which can be found at
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/tools/nt4exist.mspx

For future reference you can find the recommended IIS4 install procedure at
